Oiishi, located in the charming Preston Hollow neighborhood, is a standout destination for sushi lovers and those seeking a delightful dining experience. As soon as you step inside, you’re welcomed by a warm, inviting atmosphere that blends modern design with traditional Japanese touches. Soft lighting and elegant decor create a serene backdrop for what promises to be a memorable meal.
The menu at Oiishi is impressively diverse, featuring an array of sushi, sashimi, and creative rolls that cater to both adventurous eaters and those who prefer classic options. Each dish showcases high-quality ingredients, with an emphasis on freshness that is immediately evident.
To start, the miso soup is rich and comforting, setting a perfect tone for the meal. The edamame served with a sprinkle of sea salt is also a delightful nibble that arrives warm and perfectly cooked.
For the main course, the sushi is where Oiishi truly shines. The nigiri selection includes impeccably fresh salmon, tuna, and yellowtail, each slice beautifully presented. The fish is buttery and melts in your mouth, while the sushi rice is perfectly seasoned—just the right amount of vinegar for balance.
Service at Oiishi is attentive and knowledgeable. The staff, special mention to Feliza, is eager to offer recommendations and ensure that every aspect of your dining experience is seamless. They take the time to explain the dishes, making it easier for newcomers to navigate the menu.
Overall, Oiishi in Preston Hollow is a remarkable sushi restaurant that excels in both quality and ambiance. With its commitment to fresh ingredients, innovative dishes, and exceptional service, it’s a top choice for anyone looking to indulge in a fantastic sushi experience. Highly recommended for a...
Read moreThe food was excellent but the customer service not so much. I placed my order directly on Oishii Sushi's website, but I think it routes you through Door Dash. I placed the order around 6 PM for an 8 PM pick up. When I arrived I said I was picking up my order, and the hostess asked me to confirm my order. I had no idea what that meant, but she wouldn't give me my order until I showed her the text I got from Door Dash. I'm not sure if she understood the difference between placing your order directly on the company's website and a door dash driver picking up an order for delivery. I hate to go here but if I looked different (i.e. if I were white) would a confirmation be needed? Regardless, if I give you my name and I show up at the time the order is supposed to be ready, I shouldn't have to confirm that I actually paid for my order and am picking it up. Maybe that was a form of fraud prevention but it made me feel like I had to prove that I was who I said I was even though they already had my money. So if I didn't show her the text from Door Dash would they have just kept my money and my order? The process needs to...
Read moreWe had pretty underwhelming service here. After being sat for 15 min or so, we had to flag down a manager to be introduced to our server. There were 7 of us dining this evening.
Once orders were in, food came rolling out, but food came out in very random times, rather than all at once. A spicy tuna roll came out instead of a spicy salmon roll, then my curry chicken dish didn’t come out until most of the table had finished all their food, and my wife’s Philadelphia roll didn’t come out until after I had finished my late dish. We had 3 conversations with the server about the Philly roll before it came out.
The lackluster service could have been met with a conversation/apology with a manager or at least the Philly roll comped. But nothing was said, so I guess this wonky service is just the norm.
I try to leave mostly positive reviews, and I’ll say the sushi was good and the other food was fine. I really liked the spicy edamame appetizer. But I won’t be coming back because of the service.
Also, their pre-made tip options are post tax and 20%, 25%, and 30%. Just another thing to keep in mind if you decide to...
