Mickle Cajun Kitchen — Restaurant in Dallas

I have been a customer of this place for over 2 years . The gumbo used to be great ! Purchased a pint and cup last week . The gumbo was a different recipe. Decided to give them a try again this week and I asked a ? To an employee who told me he was the owners son . He cooks the food . I have only seen this man here his son for the last couple months . Normally it’s the owner . Which lets me know there was a change in the receipe because he told me he cooks the food. The owners son was not so friendly and made me very uncomfortable to ask any question as a long time customer. Mr mickle I have spend hundreds with you and even sent people here . Customer service was at all time disappointment. Whoever had been making that gumbo recipe before bring them back . This one is not it

Mickle Cajun kitchen is by far the spiciest and tastiest gumbo I've ever had. I've tried the State Fair gumbo, and every "Cajun" restaurant and have always been just a little disappointed. Either in the texture the ratio or the flavor had never been what it could be. The spice level is perfect, it burns but there is so much flavor, you get a good ratio of chicken and shrimp and sausage in every bite, it's by far the heftiest one I've come across. They do a chicken tender sandwich and boudin links that are 🔥. Turkey legs too but I haven't tried yet due to my eternal gumbo fixation.

The staff are always wonderful and if I could eat this everyday I would ( I tried, made it 3 days in a row before the rest of my body had a mutiny 🤣) Forgive the pic I had started eating already before I remembered I should actually...

Will not visit again

I tried this place and was simply disappointed. Serving size was small. I ordered the chow knew white meat and crawfish effete it is suppose to be 2 sides but was only really one. Two teaspoons of rice and one teaspoon of crawfish effete. The fish plates was suppose to be two filets more like kids plates. Rice was undercooked and hard. I also ordered a piece of sweet potato pie- the potatoes were still hard and it was more smashed sweet potatoes. No crust and was not even shaped like a slice of pie. I wish I would have taken a picture but as I took a spoon of it and tasted the whole uncooked potatoes...I threw it away. Total waste of time, effort to drive over there and last but no least money. Ordered for a family of 5... everyone was disappointed.
