In a word, MoMo’s Pasta is absolutely Wonderful and Outstanding! Ok, two words.
I have to wonder if the writers of the negative reviews were maybe confused and meant to be leaving a review of that other place, Momo’s Italian kitchen. We went to it, once, several years ago, and the fact that it is very close to my mothers home and that we have never gone back, and never shall go back, says it all! DO NOT CONFUSE that other place for this magnificent restaurant! Adding to the confusion is the fact that the other place is on Forest near Greenville, while this, the great restaurant that you are looking for, is on Preston at Forest.
Momo’s Pasta is the opposite of any negative review. It was outstanding in every respect! First of all, everyone who is avoiding carbs, Momo’s pasta has a lot more to offer than pasta! I had the veal chop, which was beautifully cooked and absolutely delicious! They serve several veal scallopini dishes, chicken dishes, and there are a number of seafood dishes as well.
On Saturday night, August 7, my wife and I were so happy to be there, celebrating both of our birthdays, that after we had the “pink bread” and a drink, we had already decided we would be back! We had such a hard time deciding what to order from the huge menu that we informed our excellent waiter, Arturo, that we were going to need “people bags”, before we ordered, because we were going to go nuts! And we did exactly that!
We ordered a very nice bottle wine offered at a very reasonable price (we went to and from via Lyft…we originally called Uber, but the assigned car which was 5 minutes away from home, was still not moving on the map after 15 minutes….but I digress!).
We each had a salad, delicious! (Am I abusing the word “delicious?) I had the Insalata Al Momo, which had nice pieces of diced lobster, and my wife had the special salad, garden greens with refreshing chunks of cubed watermelon and a sprinkling of balsamic, which was indeed special!
We ordered a pizza with Italian sausage, which was delicious, and we boxed it up immediately after we each selected the smallest slices.
We also ordered, intending to share and sample: In addition to my veal chop, I ordered the Tagliatelle Al Cacao, which was amazing, and my wife had Chicken Marsala, which technically wasn’t on the menu, but since they serve Veal Marsala, and several chicken items are on the menu, we figured the chef would easily accommodate us, which he did.
We were unable to talk ourselves into ordering risotto too, but both of us had our eyes on the Risotto Arragosta (Lobster). We had done such a poor job of controlling ourselves already, that we thought we had better leave something to try next time! That also includes the Risotto Al Funghi!
We then closed the evening with a Tiramisu and the vanilla-cinnamon gelato, with crumbles of Amaretti cookies and a shot of Godiva Liqueur. Unbelievable!
We have enjoyed our left overs two nights running! However, we wish we had ordered an extra pink bread to have with it. And maybe some spaghetti and meatballs with chunky marinara. Maybe some extra salads too. I’m looking forward to the Insalata ala Caesar, the Insalata Gorgonzola, the Insalata al Fantasia, and the Spinaci al Balsamico. All this week we’ve been telling ourselves to restrain ourselves from finding a night to go back this week! After all, before we left, we made reservations to bring my mother here next week to celebrate what would’ve been her 71st Anniversary. I know we will be...
Read moreFirst time reviewer but I felt compelled to review this place.
Edit: if you want 4x the quality and half the price go to gallo nero on Greenville. The chicken parm is legit some of the best I’ve ever had
For a setting 7pm Friday night about 24 covers(heads) and only 4/maybe 15 tables are sat with 2 people at the bar. So not busy at all
Atmosphere was okay, waiter was decent but a little short. Overall service was meh nothing bad nothing great.
Bread and oil to start Bread was soft and luke warm, it wasn’t even bread more like naan or pita, oil was decent. Water was filtered and ice cubes were clear(good tasting, best part)
No appetizers ordered, straight to food
Plates ordered veal Parmesan and shrimp momo Wait time 8 minutes(red flag as it should take longer to cook)
Plating- small plates with small portions crowded, 2 strips of veal parmasean with steamed frozen vegetables(zucchini squash green beans and brocolli) and peas with white creamy sauce
Shrimp momo was the same sub the Pasta and shrimp for the veal
Taste- sides Vegetables tasted like steamed frozen veggies, not inherently bad but they were not great, best part of the plate(not a good thing we barely ate them)
Peas with sauce- worst part of the plate, sweet and over powering honestly creamed corn but worse
Veal parmasean- came out warm not hot, no chunks in the sauce(also weirdly orange like dyed) and sweet think chef Boyardee(sorry for spelling I don’t eat it), breading was soft and soggy not crispy, and tasted like crisco or pam not butter or olive oil. Parmasean was more rubbery and cooled than it should have been. Small portion maybe 6-7oz. Cost 22.95 over priced for such low quality
Shrimp momo- warm not hot. Shrimp was rubbery like pre cooked frozen shrimp. Sauce was meh, sweet with no real flavor. Just creamy.
Glass of wine ordered house zin-to be honest tasted like a cab not a zin. Tasted ok but $9 for a glass of ok wine.
Bill 22.95 x2 entrees 9.00 wine 1.65 service fee (check) what even is this
54.90 - 65.80 total+ tip
Overpriced and fastest 40 minutes with very little to the meal.
It’s been 20 minutes since my meal and my stomach hurts from the food without having more than a bite of the sides and the main dish.
Do not recommend, would recommend anything else, burning a $20 bill would be a...
Read moreMy 2 sisters and my friend are visiting from Philadelphia and they found a "Reverse Happy Hour, Hookah Tuesday's" flyer on Instagram for this location so we decided to check it out! The venue was nice, the DJ was awesome but the service was awful. To make a long story short, we asked for the reverse happy hour menu and they stated that although they had part in posting the flyer to the Instagram, that there was no reverse happy hour but that we could get well drinks for $5.
I was a little annoyed as this is my birthday celebration but we decided to stay because we drove from Desoto, so we ordered food, drinks and hookahs and they dropped our checks right away. I would say no more than 3 minutes later, before we could receive our food or our hookahs the waiter walked up behind me and said "Are you going to pay now or what? If you leave it open I need a card right now to hold it." Taken aback, my response was, "Excuse me?" My waiter then pointed at me while laughing and said to one of his coworkers, "No entiende Ingles?!" and laughed. I looked back up and said "I actually do understand and speak both English, and Spanish, please close the check." He pretended that he did not know why I was saying what I said, took the book and darted away from the table. After returning my check book, he never returned to check on us, to offer water or anything and we were there for 2 hours, whereas all of these events occurred within the first 20 minutes of us being there.
I will never return or recommend this establishment to any person. I think that it was rude to assume that I would not know that he was disrespecting me in another language, right in front of my face. I also wouldn't bother shooting my concern up the ladder either, because Im almost positive that it will fall on deaf ears. Spend your dollars where you will be respected, Mo Mo's is...
