I was very excited about this. Drove 40 minutes to visit. Worst place to visit.. ESPECIALLY on the first day of beautiful weather. The staff at this place need to be reconsidered. I have been to a place and dealt with such crappy employees in a long time. That is including bar and “hostess”.. Few things to note: bathrooms are not very clean and not even functioning. You sit in a line to use a bathrooms that you have to stick your hand in the back of the tank to flush.. (both men and women’s bathroom) because they didn’t fix it. You guys should of had a maintenance guy there immediately to fix that. But no.. just another disgusting location that is about the money and not too much the experience. Lucky for the dogs they cant just poop in the grass and leave it... as well as their owners because no one walks around cleaning the facility. Their gate.. yes ONE gate where EVERYONE comes in and out of.. AND TWO sides entrances are combined... I suggest keeping an eye out because people let dogs out left and right due to the crappy locking mechanism the gates have which aren’t fixed or replaced.. My dog was let out and i also watched others get let loose left and right.
No one tells you that you don’t have to fill out the FULL paperwork to go in there.. that’s because the gal at the front didn’t care to even be there and don’t giving anyone directions...while allowing the entrance to turn into a cluster of dogs on a leashes wrapping around one another. Bring a pen just in case because they lack the intelligence here to put more than 1 pen for 15-20 people at a time... and then act like ya a burdened them by wanting to pay and just go inside because you wanna just pay to GTF out of that entry! Hope it isn’t windy either. One clip board.. on a picnic table for everyone... it’s incredibly frustrating with the dogs.
This place was a joke. CRAPPY service at the beer stations.. People don’t pick up their dog poop.. might wanna wear shoes that are slick below.. you will step in poo. Not very clean.. at all and I’ve been to public dog parks owned by the city!! WAY CLEANER! WAYYYYYYYYY CLEANER!
The whole experience facility wise and employee wise was awful. Lots on work needs to be done with this place for efficiency and a a good experience. It was nice to meet people and see the dogs.. don’t get me wrong there.. but this place is trash. Hey.. owner.. you should visit your “dog park” and see what’s really going on and you need to fix or definitely re-evaluate your layout/maintenance of your facility... oh.. maybe hire more people?! Just a thought. I could of gone to MANY other nice, clean, cluster F* free locations in Castle Hills vs this place... and for FREE. GOOD LUCK! I’ll never be back and will be sure everyone knows what to expect when they go. Especially when you finally nice out in the DFW.
If I could give you guys a 0 start rating.. you’d of had it a long time ago. Shame because it was a place I wanted to tend to more often but I’ll just take a hard...
Read moreI’ve been coming to Mutts for over a year now, and have convinced 3 of my friends to become members. So as much as I genuinely want to give Mutts a 5-star rating, it would not be an accurate representation of this business. Here’s where my conflict is:
Pro: It’s a dog’s heaven in uptown Dallas. There’s tons of space to run and play off-leash. Plus, they have good drinks and wifi for those of us on 2 legs. Con: It’s not always very well kept up. I’ve seen chairs break under people 3 different times. The wood underneath the water hose area is rotting and unstable. In various spots underneath the mulch is jagged rocks that tear up dogs’ paw pads whenever exposed.
Pro: They have REALLY good drinks for really cheap prices. Like $4 drinks during happy hour and $3 mimosas on weekend mornings level of cheap prices. Con: Some drinks (like ranch waters) are served in glass bottles. Glass bottles in the dog park just creates safety concerns for me.
Pro: The location! Right in West Village, Mutts is a great, convenient spot for anyone in Uptown/Oak Lawn/Knox Henderson. Con: Though they have a HUGE parking lot, you may not be able to find a spot on Saturday or Sunday because people going to the Rustic’s (next door) weekend brunch use the parking lot. Plus, there aren’t lines everywhere, so people make their own spots…. Even if it’s blocking someone in… and it normally is
Pro: They have a lot of rules in place regarding what dogs are/are not welcome. These include that the dog must be more than four months old, be spayed/neutered, and be vaccinated. Con: They don’t ask for proof of any of it, it is simply honor system. The only thing they are truly strict about is that male dogs are neutered, and that is only because it is visually apparent when this rule is broken
Pro: All of the bark rangers and bartenders are super sweet and helpful (shoutout to Autumn and Alan) Con: Management doesn’t hold to their word or maintain bans on aggressive dogs. I have literally watched a dog start 2 to 3 fights before it was asked to take a break in the parking lot. After about five minutes it was allowed back in, where it just started fights all over again. This is not the only time I’ve seen this happen with the same dog, and yet this same dog is always allowed to return, and is even a regular.
Overall, I really do love Mutts, and I’m going to continue to bring my dog here. I love that I can work or have a drink while my dog can play. However, I love Mutts more for the business model than for how the business is run itself, and there’s many changes that I really wish...

I was with a group of about 10 couples. We all have golden retrievers and live in the area. So this is an easy place to come for a party. We were celebrating the birthday of 2 of our Golden's. Since this place opened we have enjoyed the confines. It was a very sound idea and for a while as it was operating with not allowing aggressive breeds in to the dog park. That obviously has changed. You will have pit purest that tell you" my dog is not aggressive" yet that's what they all say and they always seem to end up biting at my dog. No. I don't hate pits! Lol. They were designed to be attack dogs. They're lions! You can't expect lions to simply not hunt? Can you?
As I was playing with my golden, a pit ran across the field and bit my golden on the leg while he was peeing. As I looked around for the owner, he was no where to be found. Of course not. What responsible dog owner takes his eyes off their street fighting pit. (Still don't hate pits) Many pits are great pets. Many are not.
About 10 minutes later that same pit locked his jaws into the chest of a great dane. The most vicious attack I had ever seen. For 45 seconds the pit had his jaws in the great dane. There were several men who were punching the pit as hard as they could to get him to release its jaws. If this was my golden, he was have easily succumb to his injuries. The great danes owner was screaming in terror. It was horrid. Finally, the pit couldn't take the beating and kicking her was getting from the men. He finally released the great dane. The great dane had deep puncture wounds in his chest and was bleeding a ton. If it had been any other dog, it would have been dead.
They're just too many aggressive dogs in the pen. This place really appeals to the liberal dog owners and rescue dogs mainly. That's okay. There's nothing wrong with that. I'm sure Mutts is not hurting for business. The service is great. The executive team that owns this establishment is great. The food is great. However, it's just not safe anymore.
We all decided that this was the last time that we would visit Mutts. If you're in the Highland Park area, I would just suggest meet at a nearby park. No need to have you or you dogs...
