After not being helped for the first 15 minutes I sat there (even though 2 different servers helped the booth directly across from me), I was finally greeted and my order was taken--coffee, water, apple pancake and bacon. Even though it was 9am on a Friday, the food took forever. When it arrived, I was shocked by the plate-size apple pancake, which is a traditional German Dutch pancake (not a traditional pancake). I was not a fan, as it was soft in the center and a bit doughy. I told my waitress that I didn't like it but offered to pay my bill, as I had an appointment to get to. Not long after, the manager arrived at my table to find out why I didn't like it and offered to remove it from my check. Although I took the blame since I had ordered it, he did remove it. My server kept calling me "sweetheart" and "darling" but did so with a completely straight face and without a smile. She brought my pancake without the bacon, but eventually returned with the bacon. Then I asked her for a to-go container as I had to leave. She said she would get it but took a while to come back with it and my check. Then she asked it I wanted a water to take with me. I said, "sure," but she never came back with it. Overall, a mixed experience on my first time at the Original Pancake House. I gave the food a 3 and the service a 4 (the manager that came to me brought the score up from a 1 for...

I called in an Order for an apple pancake at 7:38 AM, and the hostess told me to take 15 to 20 minutes (I know from experience it’s typically 20 minutes because this is my favorite thing on the menu…). When I walked in the door I could tell immediately that the restaurant was short staffed, so most likely I was gonna have to wait a couple more minutes. Not a problem. Both girls behind the takeout counter assured me the order was on its way, but Come to find out they had just placed the order. It took a total of 50 minutes for one apple pancake. I walked back towards the expo and she said that it was still cooking and that the kitchen was backed up, which was clear to see. About 10 minutes later she handed the manager my order and he bought it out to me (I was still standing 10 feet away) But I let him know that I had called at 7:38 (According to my phone records), And pointed out that was now 50 minutes later. All he did was say a lame “I’m sorry.”

It was not until I got out to my car that I realized that My order was not even placed until 8:09.

The real issue here is the fact that The girl who took the take-out order was not upfront with me. All she had to do was say but she forgot to place it. If I had known up front I would’ve just cancelled the order.

Sadly, customer service...

Just like to take time out to share my experience , the staff took a common and simple mistake and turned it into an awesome experience . My server was named Kim she was so awesome attentive and professional she was very knowledge about menu items she helped me decide on the Hacienda Benedict ( was looking to try something different but familiar ) . So e trying was going great than the meal came and I kinda made a face because the sauce broke ( I'm a chef I notice these things 🤦🏽‍♂️lol) . Kim was so attentive she saw my facial expression and asked what's wrong . I was willing to roll with it things happen you know , but she immediately took the plate back and said I'll be back . During all this I guess the head manager got wind of it I believe his name was Andrew , came over and apologized . I said no big deal but he's like we strive for excellent service and customer statisfation. He personally brough my plate over and apoligized again and asked Kim to bring me a fresh cup of coffe( on the house) anyways , Andrew and I had a lengthy conversation about the menu and the history of the place . Very informative and pleasant we trading a few kitchen war stories in the process. But I just like to thank them both for turning a simple mistake into a...

Wow, why have we been sleeping on this place. We last went there for our commitment ceremony breakfast 13 years ago, and have been missing out ever since. Went there this morning for my husband's birthday breakfast. Food was fantastic! I had a short stack of blueberry pancakes and my other half had a short stack of pumpkin pecan pancakes. Then we split an order of scrambled eggs and bacon. Everything was perfection! The pancakes were really light, and I mean that in a good way. I didn't have the heavy feeling I often have after pancakes. And the flavors were on point. The eggs were fluffy and the bacon. Well, I normally like my bacon crispy, but I now appreciate the benefit of a nicely cooked thick slice of bacon. And the icing on the cake (or the whipped cream on the pancake) was the service and staff. Amber the manager seated us and then checked in on us later introducing herself and even asking for our names!! We definitely got the feeling they wanted us to return. And our server Hunter was so friendly and helpful. When we were struggling to make a decision (we can be picky!) he came up with just the right suggestions. And on top of it all, the prices were reasonable. Just overall a wonderful experience and I'd highly recommend The Original Pancake House.

I’ve never heard of the original house of pancakes before my trip to Dallas. I’m a huge ihop fan for comfort breakfast food, so I wanted to get a sense of why the original pancake house isn’t as widely popular. I was first *shocked* by the calorie counts of the dishes. Pancakes with 1000 calories?! There were several dishes with close to or over 2000 calories. That was my first warning sign. I ended up choosing the spicy quesadilla which honestly was amazing. The eggs and sausage blended together well and the spicy sauce was yum!! The guac, sour cream and tomatoes were a perfect compliment. This dish also came with 3 pancakes. I was excited to try them. However, the server didn’t warm me that the batter is sourdough based. As a result, I didn’t enjoy the pancakes at all! There was a bitterness with an unpleasant after taste. It was only edible to me with tons of honey, so I ended up only eating one. While waiting for our food to come, I noticed a waitress taking about 8 partially eaten pancakes back to the kitchen. That should have been another sign. My husband’s dish was bland. It is possible to have a healthy dish with flavor, but this restaurant did not know how to do that 🥹. Anyway. I would give a lower rating but the quesadilla was amazing.

I'm on the fence. I've been going to this place for 40 yrs. I visit as many locations as I can. I don't know if it's just cut backs or what? My omelet looked deflated. They don't offer American cheese. The syrup is like water & it had a funny taste. After talking to the people at the table next to me....i ended up trying/tasting the syrup from they're table. Taste way better than what they gave us. Ruined our pancakes with the bad syrup. Not to mention our pancakes were about a size & a half bigger than silver dollar cakes. Conpared to what I'm accustomed to, they weren't appetizingat all. Just small thin sponge cakes. The manager came to the table after complaining about the syrup & she even agreed that they taste different. She replaced the pancakes & even agreed that my omelet looked skinny & deflated but didn't deduct anything off the bill for the inconvenience & frustration. We ended up taking everything to go. This place doesn't represent the quality, serving size & taste of the brand. It was my 1st time at this location & they only got 3 stars because i know the brand so well. I might give them another try.
