Nice little Adventure Lab close to home and had a chance to observe a Flame Skimmer (Libellula Saturata) there in the little pond at the Delbert Hunter Arboretum and Botanic Garden. Not 100% sure if this is an Adventure Lab Tour or a review but I did enjoy it. I've been here before but this is the first time observing a Flame Skimmer Dragonfly (Libellula Saturata) I've seen regular-colored Dragonflies but not a bright orange almost goldfish coloring type of Dragonfly. There were some elderly folks there too and they said it was something they hadn't seen before either. It was interesting watching it stay still on a plant like it was trying not to move and not to be seen but I didn't bother it too much, I finished my Adventure lab and went on my way.

Beautiful!! We jogged here early one morning which was perfect. The paths are covered with wood chips, which is easy on the old joints. There were some interesting signs talking about the historical significance of the area, not too many. Nice to learn about it. The paths make some natural loops, we were able to get in about 2.5 miles with a couple loops.

I love to walk the nature paths. I learn something new with each stroll. Fact Kiosks abound !! Labeled plants w/descriptions, Types of native and invasive plants. Even history- ie; Where the many different tribe's of Native Americans had originated, how they all lived before the treaties. (Many tribes were condenced to the Gronde Ronde Reservation.) tells what languages each spoke, types of foods each ate, where and when they would hunt and gather, types of dwellings they lived in. There are many facts on our area!! It's a great way to uphold, and value our history. Even the loggers who made the flumes that sent logs from Val Setz and Black Rock area down the Rickreal creek to the Old Mill are honored and vividly depicted with facts and photos so informative, right there and real. An experience Great for all generations, old, new and yet to come. A must see when visiting...

The arboretum is great one of the best parks around anywhere with the many trails, plaques telling what kind of trees they are and the river that runs all the way through with many access areas but they need to get rid of the disc toss game baskets and ban that from the park it causes too many problems and friction between players and people walking through I've seen too many incidents and some rowdy obnoxious teens purposely tried to hit me and my pet sitting under a tree while aiming at trees instead of the intended basket it was a very...
