Serious Pizza? Nope, serious about not caring about their hired help harassing you. I used to frequent and recommend this place to just about everyone I knew, but NEVER again. Deep Ellum has went way downhill anyway due to all the nonsense for a few years now, which is just disappointing. This is a removal and repost of my review of this place - this happened years ago, but to my knowledge staff / owner has never changed and they refuse to respond to me, so this will stay here forever. However long this was ago, all you need to do is read the 1 star reviews on here to see that this place deserves it.
Story time: Some random security guard that they hired as help from down the street (from another business) felt the need to deny me entry, assault me, ask me while I was there, try and tell me the place was not a club, and other nonsense for absolutely no reason when I tried to enter the business - I don't drink, nor was I drunk or under the influence of anything, so this behavior was completely unnecessary and was nothing but harassment. I was blocked by this 'security' while other people were allowed to enter. I called the business and a counter employee came out, then just walked back in after not really caring about the situation, all b/c they had a line and they apparently didn't need my business or my money ever again. I used to be a regular of this place and the owner, nor employees could care less about them running off regular business. They are more worried about running off people that aren't causing a disturbance than doing what they should be doing, and not caring how they are permanently damaging their business.
I contacted the owner about this incident and he never replied to remedy the matter. Go anywhere else but here, like Greenville Avenue Pizza where there are no bouncers at the door to assault and harass you. I used to tell people to go to Pizza Lounge instead, but they unfortunately closed sometime in the last few years.
To management that may read this: I will continue to post this and repost this review, pushing it to the top of the recent reviews to shame your business until you close your doors, since you refused to give me an apology or an answer, even acknowledging said incident. It will continue to be renewed and uploaded over and over again as long as I am alive or until you close your doors. Also, you get zero business from me at your Fort Worth location and I specifically tell people not...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I were hungry. We wanted pizza. Good pizza. So we did what anyone would do – ordered a pizza from Serious Pizza in Deep Ellum. We had it delivered to our place, and gave very clear, simple instructions to enter our complex and deliver to our door. Spoilers: it did not get delivered.
I got a notification saying our pizza was delivered; along with a picture of the delivery... It was left on the SIDEWALK. That beautiful, aromatic pizza was just left on the sidewalk in front of our building. Funnily enough, it was left unprotected right in front of the gate which simply required that 4-digit code (just look at the attached pic). Any passerby would have their nostrils serenaded by the sweet smell of Serious Pizza... Any passerby would be tempted to commit pizza thievery that day. Would I blame them for snagging a free pizza from the street? No. No I would not.
And sure enough when I got there, the pizza was gone. I wasn't surprised, but I was definitely peeved. Peeved that my pizza wasn't delivered safely. Peeved that my tummy was still grumbling and unhappy. I went back to our home empty-handed, pizza-less, hungry, and my wallet $50 lighter. Was I happy to have paid for someone else's meal that day? No I was not. I wanted our pizza.
So now after that fiasco, my girlfriend and I are both hesitant to order from Serious Pizza again. Delivery drivers, please take as much care of the pizza as the chefs do in the kitchen. The pizzas deserve that level of care and attention.
Serious Pizza, what can you do to help a pizza-less man (and his girlfriend) during these trying times?
[UPDATE] The owner contacted me and righted the pizza mishap. I won't order delivery anymore, but the dude's a stand-up...
Read moreI ordered a slice and boy was it a disappointment in quality, price, and wait time. It was not eatable. I had to throw it away. They were understaffed with 2 workers, usually they have a cashier but the pizza makers were the cashier. Maybe they saw me waiting 1 hour for my slice and decided to rush it. I saw them open the oven and kinda look at my slice and extra 5 seconds, then deicded to send it uncooked to me. The cheese was raw, the pepporoni uncooked, the dough soft and gewy it was completely un-eatable. I have came here 2 years and know how it used to be. The 1 dollar they charge for jalapeno toppings in the past got you in house cut japaneos. They are now just using the same canned processed jalapenos as subway sandwich. Cheap, small, processed, and yet still charging a dollar after the change. This cutting corner trend has been going on as managers try to keep the money flow by raising prices and using cheaper ingrediants. Like malibu poke going from 3 table spoons of mango topping to one teaspoon of processed mango yet still charging the same. I could go on but lets talk about in-n-out and why its succesful. Consistency in the food quality. Did the in-n-out manager say ok guys we need to cut costs we are shutting down the onion station, from now on take one scoop out of the processed onion can per burger. They didn't, consistency in ingrediants, freshness, and food quality is the winning recipe for long term success like in-n-out. You get away from that youll be out of business in a few years after the reviews catch up. I recomend this place for kitchen nightmares TV Show. Serious has some serious changes needing to be implemented. 20 + years restuarant...
