I consider myself an avid foodie and I had been craving boiled crawfish. I decided to patronize this establishment for the very first time about a week ago, after seeing the banner advertising they had crawfish. It was a Friday evening so I walked in and went over to the register to place an order to go. I let the waitress know I was very interested in ordering crawfish and I also wanted to try something else from the menu as well. I specifically asked her if the catfish was fresh and she told me yes. My complete order was 2 lbs crawfish with a 1/4 lb of shrimp with the corn, potatoes, and sausage added extra and a fried catfish and shrimp platter. I sat inside to wait for my order. I noticed the bar was crowded with patrons having drinks but I didn’t notice anyone actually eating anything. When I got my order back home I was so very disappointed. Everything was wrong with the food. The boiled shrimp was smelly and tasted very fishy which for me is a clear indication that it was not fresh. The sausage in the crawfish boil was sliced very thin and the potatoes were a regular russet potato sliced in half which is not used in an authentic seafood boil. The fried fish and shrimp did not have any season at all and tasted like it was frozen and then fried. The fries were fried so very hard I could enjoy anything. For the amount of money that I spent on my order I was very upset. The next day I called to speak to the manager Megan and gave her my list of grievances with my order. She offered an apology and for me to come back and have a complementary lunch on her to make up for my unfortunate and unpleasant visit prior. In the back of my mind I am thinking, why would I want to come back to this establishment to eat anything else with the experience that I had the first time around. As the saying goes, the first impression is a lasting impression. Shuck N Jive is undeniably one that will not get my...
Read moreDerek was super cool and friendly. Another employee greeted us when we came in and gave us menus, he was very nice and welcoming also. Thanked us for coming in to try them out after I told him we hadn’t been there before but we found them online and their food looked good. We sat down and was looking over the menu for a few and wasn’t sure what to get. Didn’t even have to ask for someone to come recommend anything. About the time I looked up from the menu to see if I could get someone’s attention Derek came up to us. He sat down next to us and chatted with us like we’d been there every day. Recommend some things to us and got our order in right then and there. We loved the vibe of the place and the next time we’re back in Dallas we are definitely making a pit stop here again. I think my son and I are going to make it our new tradition to stop here if we’re coming to Dallas. It’s nice to have a change up from all the burger joints, Chinese and Mexican restaurants that surround our area. We had jambalaya, the trash can nachos, and the shrimp Cajun pasta (and added the mushrooms and broccoli) with a Caesars salad. Everything was delicious. I want to bring my husband back for...
Read moreNow, I'm a fan of Shuck N Jive, been patronizing this establishment over 10yrs... Today though I was beyond disappointed.... The service was terrible as well as the food. My date and I received cold food... The waitress, when told that the food was cold instead of immediately asking what can be done to please the customer she says, "Well I brought it out as soon as it was up." My date suggested that she just pop the plate in the microwave... Lol... She took the plate and said, "I'll see what the manager thinks about this." ...and brought him the same cold plate claiming that it had been in the microwave but yet the plate nor the food was hot. To try to keep the drama to a minimum I ate my food. Chips and queso with meat -- COLD. My Blackened Chicken Pasta the meat was hot my noodles were cold... ...I think she was upset with my dates actions that she was reluctant to come check our table... The manager we never saw! ....to add to it... I'm aware that they allow you to bring your dogs to the outside portion but to watch the waitress play with the dog and handle food is really a BIG NO NO! I was shockingly...
