What a shame. I have been coming to this location since it opened, but it's time to leave. Why I am leaving: 1.) This place is dirty. There have been mixed reviews, but I can tell you, it's dirty. It didn't used to be, but now there is trash around the place that doesn't move for a few days at a time - no one is cleaning it up. The women's bathroom has been disgusting on numerous occasions - urine on the toilet seats, and I am not joking that one time there was smooshed feces on the floor in one of the stalls. Seriously?! The toilet paper is always out, and there is usually an average of at least one stall out of order & blocked off with yellow caution tape. If the place is in that kind of disarray, I can only imagine how often they must be cleaning down the equipment?? 2.) Equipment "needs service" for days/weeks at a time - last week while on one of the cardio machines, I counted 7 machines in my near vicinity all marked "service needed or out of order" - they have been like that for a while now. 3.) Poor mix of equipment - while they do have an insane amount of cardio machines, it's not the right mix of equipment for their members. They have tons and tons of recumbent bikes that are never more than 10% utilized and a TON of treadmills that also go relatively underutilized - maybe

I have visited this gym only twice -- first when I inquired and signed up (HUGE mistake; I asked if I could get a guest pass but they were hesitant so I thought since this is the gym closest to where I live, I'd give it a try) and second time when I set an appointment for their "free" personal trainer consultation which turned out to be a horrible experience. The person that did the orientation was nice at the beginning and very enthusiastic in educating me about my "health and fitness". After 1 hour of talking, we then went to the machines so he could show me how to use them. Man, worst experience ever. I have done personal training at my previous gyms, Baylor Tom Landry being the last one, and that was a very positive experience and made me want to do more work out routines. However, my experience with Jerome at LA Fitness is something I would not want to happen ever again. He was adamant that I do several repetitions at the machines when I already told him more than once that I wanted to stop. Finally, I just stood up and stopped whatever he was asking me to do because my legs started to hurt really badly. I could not walk straight for 2 days; and could not bend my knees when going up and down (worse) the stairs). At the end of the session when I told him I'm not sure if I'm joining, he became aloof, borderline rude. Then he said, "Well, you won't really need to look into your budget if you don't think you'll join anyway". Yeah, you're right. I'll take my money some place else. Save yourself the trouble and do not join. I called the corporate office right away and requested to cancel my membership. They apologized incessantly. In less than 2 minutes, I got a call from the branch membership manager apologizing as well. My mind is set. 2 visits (and $185 for initiation fees; 1st and last months fees) are enough.
LA Fitness -- Please learn how to respect your members. You will not be able to keep your members if you treat them the way I was treated. I'll come by next week and talk to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI came the gym with a lot of spectations, they told that I had a free "assesment", I came and the trainer me was very nice, try to upsell me the personal trainer package, but I couldn't afford it, besides I just want it to go (I usually don't) make a routine out of it. The trainer kept insisting, I left him finished, because I knew that was his job, but i already knew my answer, when I said no to him, he brought his "manager trainer", he pushed me so hard to get this package, fiercely, making fun of me not knowing to use the treadmill (I leaned over too much and was pushing the emergency stop), saying "I thought you want it to change and lose some weight", I told him repeatedly that I wanted to, that maybe later on i will take the trainer, but not now. He pushed so hard and made so many discounts that I told him I was going to tried it for a month, he agreed. They were supposed to take an amount for the package, instead they took the amount plus $99 (this was 3 days after I signed up), I went that day, waited for him like 30 mins and nothing, the initial trainer that was trying to sell to me, told me that it was a "registration fee", (although I was already registered in the gym) but that tell him to canceled it for me. They never mentioned that fee. They didn't canceled it neither. I went again, the trainer manager dismissed me, told me that he cannot do anything, told me to call corporate, I told him I would call my bank so they would cancelled the transaction, I called corporate they told me that they would fix it. Nothing happen. I called in 3 occasions, either they hanged up on me, tell me they would fix it and didn't do anything, and so on. I had to called my bank and made a claim, after that I called again 2 times and they finally fixed. All these happen in 15 days. I had to wait 15 days, to get my money back. Apart of that I...
