This would be a 5 star review, however; I do not feel welcomed back and it would be a disservice to rate a place higher that you do not even feel welcomed back to.
The prices were great, the sushi was great, and our waiter was more than awesome. He alone would get a 5 star review, and we would come back if we felt welcome back because of him, however we do not for these reasons. Me and my girlfriend arrived at around three o' clock. We sat outside on the patio as there was only one other table sat outside. We started our order off with a mimosa each while we looked over the menu and decided on what we wanted to order. Our waiter came back out to see if we were ready to order, we were not quite ready and asked for another 5 minutes or so. We decided what we wanted and we placed our order after our waiter checked back with us again. We got our food in about 15 minutes, when our food arrived we were about halfway through our first drink. Our waiter came back to check on us in the middle of our entree', our first drinks were finished and we said we would just want one more mimosa each, he was more than accommodating to our request and brought us our second round of drinks in about 5 minutes give or take. We finished our drinks and we finished our entree' after about 30 minutes of eating, chatting, and giggling with each other about our days events. A different waitress came and checked on us this time, she asked if we needed anything. I said sure another drink would be nice, she said and I quote "another one?" In a rather judgmental and rude tone. I said yes please. She asked my girlfriend if she wanted another one and naturally she said no because of the way the waitress had just judged me for ordering a third drink in a matter of an hour and 30 minutes of being at the restraunt, even though its not really a strong drink because it is literally just champagne and juice, not even a cocktail, also rather small because the glasses are narrow. Our waitress left, I asked my girlfriend if she was sure she didn't want another drink, she was reluctant because of how we were just clearly judged for no reason, however she did want another one. We were polite, kind, and personable the whole time, the judgement was unnecessary and rather rude. The bartender from the bar inside brought me my drink, my girlfriend asked him for another drink, and he said "sure no problem" in a polite, cheerful way. How you should respond. However, when he brought my girlfriend another drink he also brought the check. We were clearly being asked to leave, we have absolutely no idea why. We were spending money, laughing amongst ourselves about our day, we may of been giggly, however not intoxicated in the slightest, were we drunk, I highly doubt we could of made the 1.5 mile walk back home to our apartment in Uptown unscathed and capable of typing this review as I am right now. This is actually quite upsetting as this would of been a place we frequented quite often due to the good food, and how personable and funny out waiter was. We have been looking for a sushi spot that compared to our previous one in our hometown since we moved to Dallas. Unfortunately this is clearly not a spot we are welcomed at for who knows what reason other than you can't have three weak mimosa's in an hour and 45minute time span. I would understand if we had paid our bill and just sat there sipping on a drink for almost two hours, however, we were not even done and would have ordered some eggrolls to eat with our last drink. So don't go there during happy hour, they don't want you to be happy. I assume they just want you to only order two drinks at the...
Read moreI recently dined at Sushi Axiom in Dallas, TX, and my experience was extremely disappointing. Here are the major issues I encountered:
Unnotified Alcohol Tax: There was an undisclosed alcohol tax on our bill. After visiting the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) website, I found that such charges must be clearly disclosed to customers either on the menu or at the start of the service, which did not happen in our case. The waitress was unaware of the alcohol tax details and repeatedly said, “I don’t know,” without attempting to resolve the issue. Unhygienic Conditions: The cleanliness of the restaurant was severely lacking. The dining area and restrooms were filthy, which violates health and safety standards mandated by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). The restrooms, in particular, were in a disgusting state, posing a significant health risk. Poor Service and Unjustified Gratuity: The service was atrocious. Despite requesting our food to be served together, it arrived in staggered intervals, ruining our dining experience. Our waitress, although smiling, failed to refill our water and soda, and the table was never cleaned. To make matters worse, a 20% tip was automatically added to our bill despite the poor service quality, which is both unjust and exploitative. Managerial Misconduct: When we questioned the alcohol tax, the manager responded with aggression, raising his voice and displaying unprofessional behavior. This conduct is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the establishment’s management.
Given these serious issues, I am filing formal complaints with both the TDLR and TABC. The restaurant’s failure to maintain cleanliness, lack of transparency regarding pricing, and the unprofessional behavior of its staff are serious concerns that need immediate attention.
Based on this experience, I believe even giving Sushi Axiom one star is generous. This establishment does not deserve any stars due to its appalling service...
Read moreWe were visiting Dallas for the first time and a couple different people recommended we go to this place. We were very excited and went there on Sunday for their all day happy hour. My husband ordered the quail shooter and the Pacific roll and they were awesome. We also got some edamame to start. I then ordered some Gyoza pork pot stickers and they arrived totally burnt on one side. I didn’t see the burnt part at first and I went to eat the first one and then I had a burnt taste in my mouth the rest of the evening. I also ordered chicken fried rice and the chicken was way overdone and so was the rice. I eat chicken fried rice a lot of places and this particular one was inedible. The server felt bad and took those items off of our bill and brought us a free glass of wine and he apologized up and down. Server was Steven and he was amazing. I feel so bad because I really wanted to love this place. The food I had was horrible!!!!
6/29/25 update: decided to go back and try this place again since it’s only a block from all of the gay bars where we hang out when we visit. We went on Sunday for their all day happy hour and we sat at the bar. My husband got two different sushi rolls and they were great. Before ordering an entrée, we decided to order the Gyoza and it never came so after about 10 minutes we ordered our entrées and then the entrées arrived, but we never got the gyoza so we told them to cancel the order. I thought I would try the chicken fried rice again and the rice was good this time but the chicken was way overdone and very dry. The young male bartender was not very busy when we were there, but he seemed to get distracted easily. We asked for more water and he said he would bring it right away and then never did so we had to remind him again. Same with the wine. He said he would bring us two more glasses of red wine and then he didn’t so we had to remind him like five or 10 minutes later. Not...
