When we walked into the Bar, it was very dark, old world, wooden, and had a speakeasy vibe to me. Something like a private country club back in the '40s or '50s. I liked it, it was very nice. With online reviews talking a lot about one of the menu items, we HAD to try the Lobster and Blue Crab Mac & Cheese. I am a sucker for good food, and this sounded great. Our server was very kind, and attentive. For our drinks, I had an Old Fashioned and I am not sure what my wife had some fruity type drink. She said she liked it though, so that is good. My drink was, okay, but not great. Someone got very heavy-handed with the bitters and it was a struggle to drink. But, for a free drink, I did not want to be one of "those people".
The Mac & Cheese took maybe 20 minutes or so to come out. It is served in a bowl with a 3-4" rim, which is a bit much. It makes the dish look much smaller than it is, as you are left staring at what appears to be a half-empty dish. That is just a personal observation though. Well, the dish fell flat. It was a very slow night and on a weekday, so I can assume the kitchen is being run on a skeleton crew maybe? Not sure, but, this Lobster and Blue Crab Mac & Cheese was missing part of its ingredients. There were 2 whole claws of what I assume was Blue Crab, though, I did not find any lobster, nor any English peas. The truffle flavor was there, so I was actually served Truffle Mac n Cheese with Blue Crab and mushrooms. Not terrible, but for the price point and scale of this establishment I was not expecting it to fall so short on delivery. It was not served hot, it was tepid and one of the two claws were soggy. When I bit into it, I got a burst of what tasted like melted ice. You know, like when you have a glass of ice water, drink all the water and then 10 minutes later take. a drink of the melted ice. It has that slight freezer taste to it. It was not nearly as enjoyable as I was hoping...
Read moreMy husband and I stopped down into The Library Bar for a quick drink before dinner during a recent trip to Dallas, and we’re so glad we did. The atmosphere was cozy and elegant. We sat at the bar and were lucky to be served by Jason, who was friendly, attentive, and clearly knows how to make a great martini. He made us each a wonderful cocktail based on what we were in the mood for. It was the perfect start to our trip. Also a nod to the hotel. We were truly impressed by the exceptional service we received. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel warmly welcomed and well looked after. Everyone we encountered—from the front desk to housekeeping—was friendly, professional, and attentive to even the smallest details. Their thoughtful hospitality really made our first visit special, and we’re already looking forward to returning. Thank you to the entire team for such a...
Read moreI’ve been to The Library many times and have always felt comfortable there with a great atmosphere and excellent live music. Unfortunately this past Monday night my experience was the exact opposite. Arrived about 10:30 and specifically went there because their website stated they were open until midnight. The bartender was rude and condescending and referred to me as “boss” and my guest as”baby” several times. We each ordered a drink and around 11:05 he announced last call so we ordered another and 5 minutes later he told us we had to leave because they were closing even though their website stated they were open until midnight. Pointed that out to him and he sarcastically replied he would tell his manager. The bartenders there have always been attentive and personable so I’m not sure when this guy started but I won’t be going back again...
