I took my wife here for her birthday with a few friends, and what a delightful surprise! Despite the stellar online reviews, I'd heard very little about this place, making the experience even more special.
Upon arrival, the valet was quick and efficient, and we were seated almost immediately. The initial impression of the main dining room was that it was a bit too vast and open for the intimate celebration we had in mind. However, a quick stroll through a charming courtyard led us to the stunning greenhouse dining room. With its bright, airy atmosphere, it was exactly the vibe we were hoping for—a perfect setting for a celebratory dinner.
The evening was a journey of culinary highs. We started with cocktails: the "Wheels Up" and "First Crush Martini" were both fantastic (a solid 9/10 each). Our second round was a bit more of a mixed bag; a delicious glass of Ridge Vineyards "Three Valleys" (9/10) was excellent, while the Tequila Fix (5/10) tasted a bit watered down and unbalanced. We finished on a high note with a wonderful, unnamed glass of Cremant (10/10)—a perfect end to the drinks portion of our meal.
For starters, the bacon-wrapped dates were an absolute showstopper (10/10), a must-try. The Brussels sprouts were also quite good (8/10), but the fried chicken and caviar (6/10) fell a little flat, needing some more seasoning despite being cooked perfectly.
Our main courses featured highs and a few minor lows. The shrimp and smoked bacon pizza (8/10) was a hit with my wife, though she wished for more sauce and a better distribution of bacon. The pork pappardelle (8/10) was solid, but we both felt the sauce could have used more depth of flavor. The wood-grilled bavette steak (9/10) was cooked beautifully, though the accompanying potatoes were surprisingly under-seasoned.
We finished with dessert, celebrating with a delicious Deviled Afogato (9/10) and the toffee cake (8/10) on the house. My wife enjoyed both but noted the affogato could use more texture and caramel, and she wished the toffee cake came with ice cream.
The final piece of our evening was the service, which was a true study in contrasts. Our server, Kevin, was fantastic—he had an impressive grasp of the menu and offered spot-on wine recommendations that elevated our meal.
However, the pacing of the evening was unfortunately quite slow. Drinks took over 15 minutes to arrive after we ordered, and the wait for both the main courses and even the desserts felt unusually long. While Kevin's expertise was a highlight, the overall flow of the meal felt disjointed.
Despite the slow service, we had a truly memorable birthday dinner, with the stunning greenhouse setting and several standout dishes more than making up for the minor inconsistencies. We will definitely be back to explore more of the menu and enjoy that incredible...
Read moreWe dined at Sixty Vines in Uptown Dallas a couple of weeks ago on a very busy Saturday night, and I can confidently say it was one of the most memorable dining experiences we've had in quite some time. We were a party of four with a 7:30 PM reservation and were warmly greeted by the host team upon arrival. Despite the crowd, we were promptly seated at a high-top table near the front of the restaurant. Right away, our evening took a special turn thanks to our server, Justice, who was absolutely phenomenal — truly one of the best waitstaff experiences we've ever had (and we've dined out A LOT over the years!). Before we even ordered, Justice invited us to take our glasses and join her on a private tour of the restaurant — yes, a tour! She walked us through the concept behind Sixty Vines, the wine-on-tap system with wines stored in sleek mini kegs, the thoughtful décor, and even showed us the private event spaces (which are gorgeous, by the way). This kind of attention and personal touch — especially on such a busy night — was above and beyond. Justice also explained the menu thoroughly, expertly guiding us through the wine pairings and dishes with confidence and passion. We started with several appetizers: the wood-grilled shrimp, crispy zucchini, and beets — all absolutely delicious and beautifully prepared. A nice bonus: much of the menu is gluten-free, which, while not essential for us, was still great to see. For mains, our group had a bit of everything: Fig & prosciutto pizza – fresh, crisp, and bursting with flavor. Pork chop – touted by Justice as “the best pork chop in Dallas”… and my husband completely agrees! Juicy, tender, and full of flavor. Salmon – cooked to perfection and equally impressive. New York strip – tender, flavorful, and expertly cooked. We also sampled a few wine flights, and every selection was on point — one more enjoyable than the next. To top it all off, Dan, the general manager, personally stopped by to check in and chat for a few minutes — again, a lovely gesture on a packed Saturday night. It’s rare to feel so genuinely welcomed and valued as a guest in a restaurant of this size and popularity. Final thoughts: In a city with no shortage of great dining options, Sixty Vines stands out for its unique concept, incredible service, and consistent quality. We’ll absolutely be back — and we’ll be asking for Justice again! Thank you, Sixty Vines — and thank...
Read moreI had a reservation this past Saturday at 9:15pm and when my party arrived, we were told the table wasn't ready yet and we said sure no problem we understand considering it was Valentine's Day weekend. 9:15 turned into 9:30 then 9:45 then 10:00 and we were not seated until 10:05pm and this was after asking the hostess and manager two times the status of our table. We were seated in the back part of the restaurant - almost what felt like a greenhouse which had a quaint vibe but we were neglected the entire night. A waiter did not come to take our drink orders until we called for one and then those drinks did not arrive until 30-40 minutes later. Ordering food was even worse as that took even longer and again our table was neglected. It took so long to come to the table that we asked for our food to be packaged to take home and this was around 1130pm. All of this occurred without even an apology.
The service was terrible, the food was bland, and yet the bill was still expensive...all to get nothing.
This is the second time this has happened to me at this location. The first time I was seated right in the front during lunch where it was not busy at all yet the wait time and service was also extremely poor. I hate writing negative reviews and thought I'd give this a second try but this was the worst dining experience I've ever had. My family also agreed and was so disappointed. We had all flown in from the East Coast to visit a family member and were shocked at the atrocious service.
I would never EVER return to this location and would highly recommend dining at ANY other place. It's a shame because it's in a beautiful area, the restaurant is aesthetic, but the service and food are a complete and utter waste of money. If I could give this place -1000000 stars, I would. Save your money and save the headache to dine at a place that is truly a wonderful...
