I’m very surprised to see so many great reviews of this restaurant. The service was very slow and our waitress had an attitude the whole time when asked about the delays.
The bartender seemed very overwhelmed and our drinks came out painfully slowly, one at a time and they were serving other tables in between. By the time we received our very last drink -mind you a glass of Prosecco, so nothing to prepare… almost 20 minutes had passed from receiving the first drinks, and they already needed a refill, which took almost another 20 minutes. Their drinks presentations did not look like the ones they advertised online, no bubbles, no flames, etc. their glasses were dirty and had old residues and marks.
The food was grossly overpriced, out of the 6 of us not one of us found it tasty. The beans tasted bland, the octopus was cold, the meats were very fatty and veiny. The only dishes that we enjoyed were the appetizers: croquetas de birria, croquetas de camarones & the guacamole. But the main dishes were not good at all.
Come dessert time they informed us they only had 2 orders of Churros left available for the whole restaurant lol so we ordered those plus one ice cream. The churros were another tremendously dry, taste like frozen-package disappointment.
The waitress finally comes back and says that the restaurant offered a complementary glass of Prosecco after 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and asked if we all wanted a glass. At this point we figured why not. Well, she came back and said that she made a mistake and the complimentary glasses were only for ladies. She brought 3 flutes not even one third filled, each one of them had a different amount poured. And when we started drinking we noticed that they were completely full of smudges and one even had something that looked like an old lipstick stain.
We asked for the bill, which also took a while and came with a couple of errors, paid and left right away. The total bill for 6 people was $600+ and the experience was a really bad one, none of us will be...
Read moreI wasn’t going to write a review initially—I was just going to pay my full bill and leave—but the bartender insisted on taking the ceviche tostada off after I took one bite and was disgusted by the pungent fish smell. However, a server (I assume, based on his attire) came up to "explain" that corvina is supposed to smell fishy, almost as if I’d never eaten raw fish before. For context, I work at a sushi restaurant, so I’m well-versed in fresh fish, and I could smell the ceviche tostada from my plate without even taking a bite. Honestly, instead of getting a lecture, I would’ve preferred to just pay for the tostadas and move on.
I will say that, upon first impression, the restaurant is beautiful and has a high-end atmosphere. It sets the stage for what you’d expect to be a great experience.
I didn’t want to argue, and I will say the drinks were good. The Passion Ritual was great, though I did notice that my coupe glass was half full while my friend’s was almost completely full when she ordered the same drink. My friend also ordered the birria croquetas, which were served fresh and hot, but unfortunately, they tasted like unflavored mush in the center. The texture was off, but I could have dealt with that if they had any real flavor. On a positive note, the guacamole was fresh, and we did enjoy that.
The bartender was polite throughout the experience, but after we had paid and I thought the conversation was over, the same server returned to continue explaining how corvina should be fishy and offered to serve me the tostada with fried fish—which defeats the purpose of a ceviche tostada entirely.
I’ve been to many ceviche spots, including Bakan in Wynwood, which I highly recommend. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning to Tierra, but if you're looking for a decent drink and some fresh guacamole, it might be worth checking out. Just be prepared for inconsistent food...
Read moreWent to Tierra last night to celebrate Valentine’s Day ❤️✨ after spotting the restaurant while picking up sushi next door 🍣. Had a great evening, but it could’ve been better 🤷🏽♀️.
First, we were seated outdoors 🌿, which I think was a mistake. My boyfriend and I felt the real vibes, aesthetics, and mood were inside 💫, but unfortunately, they were full. They had live entertainment 🎶 that I could see through the glass, and the interior looked stunning—like a spot that could be in Brickell 🏙️.
Prices were pretty decent 💰, but my main issue was the food 🍽️. The menu had a lot of variety, and everything sounded delicious 🤤, but every dish was missing something. • The guacamole 🥑 was good, but not amazing—just didn’t hit a home run ⚾. But I did love that the tortilla chips were homemade 👌🏽. • The aguachile de pulpo 🐙 was decent. • The shrimp croquettes 🍤 were tasty. • Biggest disappointment: the snapper 🐟. It was beautifully butterflied, but all the flavor was in the top coating—inside, it was bland 😕. • I also ordered the ribeye tacos 🌮. They were the blandest thing I’ve ever eaten 😳. Chef, please do something about this 🙏🏽.
As someone from Caribbean or with a Hispanic background, you’d probably agree: the chef has the right ideas, but the food is just missing that je ne sais quoi 🧐 that makes you want to come back again and again.
On the bright side, it was ladies’ night 👯♀️, and they served free Prosecco 🥂! It was a nice touch and decent quality, but sadly… it was flat 😬.
Overall, a lovely place with potential, but the flavors need a little extra sazón to...
