Let me first start by saying my extremely unpleasant and subpar experience yesterday at this GameStop location was entirely due to one employee who from my understanding doesnāt normally work at this store (for whatever thatās worth). I went into the store yesterday afternoon to pickup a couple of ps4 games for my nephew. I walk in go to the ps4 section and pickup up a used COD Black Ops game with a $49.99 sticker on it. I also grabbed a Sonic game for like $20. I get to the counter and a Asian/Pacific Islander looking gentleman greeted me and let me know he could retrieve the games for me but he couldnāt ring me up because heās not a regular employee at that specific store. While waiting to be rung up the man behind the counter obnoxiously kept trying to sell me more games and protection plans etc. no matter how many times I said no this is all I want today. Anyways a young lady who also appears to be younger Asian/Pacific Islander was the one on the register to ring me up. So she rings me up and my total is like $109 I paid not paying attention then I realized wait the games stickers were $49 and $20. So the gentleman who got the games looked in the bag and took out the COD and low and behold there was a COD for ps5 brand new in the plastic and his excuse was he assumed I meant to grab COD for ps5 not a used ps4 one when I clearly brought two USED PS4 game cases to the counter for purchase! I said no I wanted the used game off the shelf that I brought it was for ps4. So now he brings the game and the girl begins doing my return and starting the process over with what I thought was the right game now , this whole time the man is still attempting to sell me other games I didnāt ask about or have any interest in! So now the young lady finishes ringing me up and my total is still like $101 and Iām like maāam no that doesnāt add up how does $50 + $20? = $101 even with taxes? She then takes the game out and this time itās a brand new ps4 game in the wrapper I said no I picked up the used one that you have on the shelf for $49 she then became visibly nervous and didnāt know what to do and she then said āoh sorry we donāt have any used onesā yet they clearly had it on the shelf and when I brought it to the register the gentleman never asked me did I want used or notified me that they didnāt have any actual used ones š©. Not to mention he put a ps5 game in my bag assuming thatās what I wanted when I clearly brought a ps4 game to him, 2 of them actually! When I called them on it they laughed awkwardly and said āgood catchā. Yea it was a good catch Iām glad I have a brain anyways I would never set foot in this location ever in life just based off this one random manager, or owner that I encountered at 2220 S University Drive Davie, Fl. Today is august 15, 2023 and I arrived at the store at 12:30PM, expecting it to be open as per the regular operating hours. However, it's now been 40 minutes past the scheduled opening time, and the store remains closed.
What adds to my dismay is the fact that I can see an employee inside the store premises, who appears to be aware of the delay but has not taken any action to open the store. This level of disregard for customers' time and expectations is both disheartening and unprofessional.
I value my time and the shopping experience, and this incident has left me with a negative impression of GameStop's commitment to customer service. I came in today 12/10/2024 excited to try out GameStopās new PSA Grading service and was very unhappy with the way the employees handled my business with them. I donāt even know where to start, first is there lack of knowledge on how to use their own system for processing cards to get sent out for grading, second would be how their lack of experience when it comes to processing cards to get sent out for grading risks customers cards getting a decrease in potential value because of the terrible card handling system. The reason I mentioned the last part is because I came in with my card ready to be shipped in accordance with PSAās packaging standards just to be told by the unsure employee that āI donāt think it can be sent out like thatā. I even showed him what PSA has on their website for guidance on how to ship out cards to them and even still, itās like he listens to what I say through one ear and goes out through the other. GameStop of Tower Shops do better in giving your customers the confidence that we place our business in the right hands of reliable, knowledgeable and experienced employees.
