DO NOT GO HERE. Let me start off by saying I once was a server at a similar type of restaurant. With that being said they were very under staffed for a Friday night. Everyone was running around frantic and once you finally got a table the service was horrible. While waiting for a table I got a Cosmopolitan at the bar. This is a pretty generic drink which any bar tender that I know, knows how to make. Awful drink. Decided to just drink it because the bartender looked like she was about to cry. Finally got our table and the server saw I had a cocktail and never asked if I wanted water and quickly asked “what do you want” to everyone. Insanely rude. Not even at a fast food place would you get treated like that. My mother decided to order a cosmo too. Well let’s just say it tasted just as bad as mine but was garnished incorrectly and was almost a red color (which it is suppose to be a very light pink) Anyways after the bread finally was “out of the oven” we cut it and it’s half frozen still. It took about 10 minutes for me to get her attention, and I tell her the bread is still cold. The fastest she had ever got back to us was to bring us some new bread. She slams the bread in front of me and says directly to me in a loud rude tone BE VERY VERY CAREFUL THIS IS GOING TO BE SUPER HOT. And walked away. If she would have stayed long enough I could have told her we still hadn’t gotten our appetizer. When my husband finally flagged her down to remind her of the app, she ran to to the back and came out with it. COLD. Then our dinner came out right after so even if it wasn’t cold we wouldn’t have been able to enjoy it anyways. Three steaks ALL COOKED WRONG. The only meal that look appetizing was my three year olds chicken fingers and fries. Couldn’t get our servers attention to have the steak that looked completely raw cooked to be medium, like my father asked. I had to find the manager and she wasn’t even apologetic. The server never came to the table to see how everything was. It was the worst experience I have EVER had in a restaurant. The cooks are horrible the service is horrible and the management is horrible. NEVER GOING TO THIS...
Read moreI just love Longhorn after giving up on Outback. There is no comparison as long as we visited the Sheridan Drive location. Our friends were staying in Davie and insisted that we meet up there. What a mistake!! The server we had disappeared after taking our order and was non responsive while we flagged down his colleagues for more water, butter, and other items that were not provided when we originally requested them. The idea of going out to eat is to be served and not having to cook. I ordered the Wild West Shrimp which were horribly greasy and bore no resemblance to our multitude of experiences at the Sheridan Drive location. When our server stopped by and we shared our issues he was adversarial and uncooperative as though we were bothering him. Not the experience you want in any restaurant. The dish I ordered was the Combination of a Half Rack of Ribs and Chicken Parm. The Chicken Parm was prepared quite well, hot and tasty. Unfortunately the Half Rack of Ribs were literally drowned in excessive amounts of Sauce which I have never experienced in my 40 Plus Years of being a Chef and cooking Ribs. The meat was mushy and definitely not "Fall off the bone tender".......such a major disappointment. The Baked Potato was so hard and dry that it must have been sitting there "Aging" for a couple of weeks. I asked for Butter while it was somewhat warm but by the time I received the butter the Potato was D.O.A. Another disappointment. Our Server finally showed up toward the end of our meal inquiring "how was everything". IF he had bothered to come to our table (which he was doing with everyone else around us quite consistently) he would have known that we had issues with his service. What a waste of hundreds of dollars. Our friends to whom we raved about Longhorn were totally unimpressed and ticked at us for selecting "such a terrible restaurant". This was definitely an aberration of our usual experiences at Sheridan Drive. We are treated like Gold there and everything is always PERFECT. That should be the case for every single location...
Read moreLonghorn is what it is. Chain steakhouse fare—predictable, decent value for the money. You know what you’re getting: a reasonably cooked steak, maybe a baked potato, and a salad that’s at least trying. That’s fine. No one walks into a Longhorn expecting greatness. But there’s a line between “predictable” and “off-putting,” and this place managed to trip right over it.
The problem wasn’t the food—it was the smell. That stale, musty funk that hits you the moment you walk in, clinging to the air like a bad memory. But worse than the smell was the waiter. Greasy hair flecked with dandruff spilling over the collar of a half-buttoned black shirt, exposing what looked like eczema, psoriasis, or maybe just a seriously angry blemish. Hard to say. Harder to look at. And yeah, I get it—waiting tables is a brutal job. Long hours, low pay, and the constant hum of human misery disguised as customer service. But there’s a difference between being tired and looking like you rolled out of bed directly into the dining room.
It makes you wonder about the management. Are they just not paying attention? Or worse, do they know and not care? If this is the level of attention to detail happening front of house, what’s going on behind those kitchen doors?
I’m not asking for white tablecloth service here. But basic hygiene and professionalism shouldn’t be too much to expect. Someone, somewhere, should’ve pulled this guy aside and said, “Hey, maybe wash your hair before a shift.” That’s not harsh—that’s common sense. But common sense seems to be in short supply here.
Longhorn doesn’t need to be special. It just needs to not make you question your life choices while eating a steak. Apparently, even that’s too...
