We had the BEST dining experience here. From the moment we walked through the door, we were impressed with every aspect of this establishment. As we were waiting to be seated, the General Manager/Chef took us on a little tour of the upstairs. He was friendly, knowledgeable and checked on us several times during our visit. The cocktails were fantastic, especially the lavender lemon drop. I had the elk chop and mac n cheese. Both were phenomenal. My boyfriend had the prime rib. They were out of mashed potatoes (we were there late) and due to gluten and dairy allergy, he passed on the other side options. Much to our surprise, the chef special made him fries. We both had a wedge salad, and I gobbled down the incredible bread that had amazing butter. Our server was also fantastic. It's a beautiful restaurant, with incredible food and top-notch service. We will definitely be back on our next visit to Virginia City.

Took our out-of-town parents to the sawdust last weekend and had a great experience! We made reservations the week before, definitely recommend doing so especially as tourist season kicks off. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, comfortable seating, and great lighting. There was no music in the Delta or restaurant that day so I’m unsure of those noise levels, but it was pleasant for us. The staff was very attentive, the food was excellent and the options were great for someone like me with dietary restrictions. we will definitely be back!

Absolutely phenomenal! Not only do they give close to Michelin star service, the food meets every standard for a high quality steakhouse. We had heard good things but the actual experience blew us away! Steven, the GM, and everyone else (Christina was our server) was so attentive and generally wonderful to be around. We left so full from the table side caesar, crab cakes, ribeye with mushrooms and whipped potatoes, and bananas foster for desert.

We had a reservation and as a local I highly recommend you make one- feom April till Dec Virginia City is hopping! This restaurant was so beautiful- they recently restored the building and when you step through the doors you feel as though you stepped back in time. The Victorian decorative details are spot on! The service was phenomenal! Desiree, our server, was attentive, friendly, and helpful. The food was so delicious- truly a treat! My husband and I shared an appetizer of crab cakes while I sipped a Mulled Blackberry Bourbon- we then moved on to main courses of prime rib and grilled sea bass. And the to top it off- we shared the best cheesecake either of us have ever had. Most of seating are very comfortable booths. We sat by the piano- it was in self-play mode and was the perfect touch. It was fun watching nearby diners enjoying their experiences as well. The ladies at the next table were grinning widely as their Ceasars salads were meticulously prepared tableside. Another set of diners ordered a flambe dessert, which of course was prepared tableside as well. They looked as though they loved the show! Also- we checked out Delta's saloon next door- it was renovated as well- long bar, some casino games, live band, billards, air hockey, and many other activities- with plenty of space and seating. I can see where you could spends hours in this spot only. As a local, I am thankful that the owner(s) thoughtfully restored each detail- a true tribute to Virginia City's past and future. Looking forward to visiting...

We went in tonight with a large group. This place is new and they are working SO hard and doing their best. I completely recognize that! There’s just a few kinks that need to be worked out.

We had the King Crab Leg and it was incredible! My husband got the Rib Eye and loved it. Baked potato was amazing and so were the mushrooms!! Honestly, best mushrooms we ever had! I shared the Filet with a friend. We asked for medium rare, and it came back medium. I felt it was fine and I ate it anyway. The butter on top is a unique blend, but there wasn’t a lot of flavor itself to the meat.I added a bit of salt and pepper to mine and it was a lot better!

I have another friend that was with us that said the same thing…..meat had no flavor. Just bland.

We tried the crème brûlée for dessert and it was more like a very vanilla pudding with cream. It was good, just not a normal brûlée.

For 3 people, our meal after included gratuity/service fee, was $315.00

These guys are new, and they are working really hard….I have a feeling if I come back in 6 months, little changes will be made, and it will be top notch!

All in all, we really enjoyed it! just needs a little work on the flavors!

Service...

This place is an experience from the decor and ambiance to the presentation and the preparation technique, all the way to the flavors and the authenticity of the food sources. It would be impossible to capture it all but I can highlight some of the things that stood out. First, the ambience stays true to Virginia City history. I could imagine mining moguls from the silver boom sitting in a room similarly designed and luxurious. Second, the food technique should be the standard for fine dining. The steak being sous vide and then grilled made the most tender meat I have probably ever had. It literally melts in your mouth. Lastly, the quality of the food speaks for itself. To put it simple, I want a steak to taste like a steak. I hate when frills and toppings overshadow the meat. I love when I can taste the quality of the steak. That was what I got, and what I appreciated most! If you are looking for a fine dining experience, venture up to the Sawdust. 10 out of 10...
