I'm gonna be a harsher opinion amongst the 5 star reviews, but mostly because I think the areas that were lacking could be quickly improved and weren't due to an off service.

Gather lacks good service - staff isn't very welcoming and the atmosphere is the one thing that can help you shake off that feeling.

The food is good, especially if they have what you like available. On the day we went they weren't serving the potatoes which made up half the weekend brunch menu. I decided to venture out and to order the biscuits and chorizo gravy - the taste was incredible, but my food had come out cold. The Monty bagel was good but missed something to make up for the price.

In addition to the food we ordered, we got coffee and a chai muffin. The muffin was fantastic. The coffee took quite some time to arrive, but it was good, and I felt it was worth the price.

Overall, the food and experience was okay. Was my experience worth $67 for two people? I think not. But as the beautiful arcade gets filled I have hope that little places like this improve and bring in locals who want to appreciate its beauty and history.

Beautiful layout with cozy nooks and thoughtful decor. I want to give Gather a higher rating however my experience with the staff was odd. I'll caveat that my visit was on a quiet Tues morning and I was the only customer inside. I got a sense that the staff didn't want to be there. I received an order number for my table but had to come up and ask about my coffee and 20 minutes later to ask about the egg sandwich I ordered, each time having to interrupt a conversation between the staff or them watching videos on their phones while eating at the bar counter. My sandwich came out lukewarm so I assume it was hanging out in the kitchen for a while.

I'm no stranger to working at a restaurant on a slow day and being bored out of my mind. I'm also familiar with building a business and wanting to give the customer the best experience possible. Walking out and seeing multiple empty tables with dirty dishes while the staff were still just hanging out at the bar made me feel frustrated for the owner and the other employees that work hard to build a successful business.
