I used to love this place. Lately they have hired a couple of new guys on. It's been them I've interacted with past few times that I've gone in and it's soured my experience. The first time, there was an elderly lady that came in that wanted to sit outside, but the outside area had never been set up which is different from when the other staff work there. Anyway she went out there to set it up by herself and she struggled with the umbrella so I helped her. Staff noticed but did nothing, and there was no one else except for a few seated customers who had already been served there at that point. The second time I walked in there was a really long line of people. There was only one guy helping customers. He told the next customer to wait and that the other guy that was behind the counter wasn't working he was just making himself something to drink before he left. It just comes across as really unprofessional. My third interaction I was actually disappointed because I was hoping that the other staff was there. those two new guys have a habit of not greeting you when you walk in and so then you just stand there awkwardly and silently until they walk over to you and stare at you blankly until you talk at them about what you want to order. Read moreMaking an addendum to a previous 5-Star review. This place has been our go to place for a long time. We live downtown and it has been our preferred coffee shop in the city.
We were fortunate enough to have the same excellent barista almost every time we went. She is fantastic and has a great personality and makes a great cup of coffee. Unfortunately, she isn't there anymore. We've experienced two different young ladies the last two times we've gone. I hate to say it, but zero customer service. Almost to the point that we felt like we were bothering them for even being there. It was definitely weird...
I think the lack of customer service reflects in the coffee. The last two times we were there, I had grounds in both of my Highlanders. So disappointed. We went from going multiple times a week to we haven't been there in quite some time.
The old adage about putting your emotions into your food also seems to ring true with coffee. I'm sure we will visit again, it's too convenient not to, but our most recent experiences have been extremely disappointing.

Anyway, I used to liked the atmosphere, and nice selection.
However, I don't know if they hired new employees or I just didn't see them as often as other staffs though. Not sure if she was having a bad day when I came, but her attitute was like she doesn't want to work... FYI, she has her nose ring(?) on. There must be a couple of female staffs, so I wanted to make sure.
It was not just one time unfortunately. Okay, the second time.. when she saw me, she was giving me her "annoyed" face. I've never done anything wrong. 🤷♀️🤷♂️🤷 Anyway, since then, another employee took my order instead.
