I've been visiting the 50s diner for some time, but I typically don’t dine in; I’m always in a hurry and usually just order food to take with me to work. On my last few visits, I was unaware that cash wasn't accepted. During my first two visits, I forgot this policy entirely. I placed my order with $20 in my pocket, only to find out I needed to use Apple Pay instead. I could have just chosen a sandwich to avoid the hassle, but the staff member insisted I walk back home to get more money. Fortunately, I live just two minutes away. The total for my order was $26, and since I only had $20, it felt like she was unwilling to let me take the sandwich and pay the difference later. After running home to grab the extra cash, I returned to complete the transaction.
The next day, I entered the diner while on a FaceTime call with my wife, discussing our meal choices. As soon as I walked in, an elderly woman, who I didn’t recognize, approached me rather assertively, demanding that I hang up the phone. I was taken aback by her tone. Given my extensive experience in customer service, I understand the importance of polite communication. Instead of instructing me to disconnect, I believe she could have kindly asked me to lower my voice or wait a moment.
Feeling frustrated, I wanted her assistance, particularly since she interrupted me for what seemed like a minor issue. I then interacted with the same employee from my previous visit, who downplayed the situation by saying the woman hadn’t yelled at me. At that point, I expressed my dissatisfaction and requested to speak with a manager, as I felt my concerns were not being taken seriously.
In conclusion, I would advise against visiting this diner. The overall experience has been disappointing, with food often served cold and lacking proper care in preparation. I have no intention...
Read moreWas in this area for a couple nights. I like trying local diners in aim of more authentic food. Big food chains breakfast is just too commercialized. After reading the Google reviews, and being closer to our hotel , we decided to try this. We saw a line out front and said well that should be a good sign. You wait in line until you get seated ( no they don't take names ) They also don't seat you until all in your party is there( Guess I understand where they're coming from ) . It took about 5 minutes (could be a little more ) before our server came to even say hi and / or get drink orders. We ordered our food since by the time she came we had already decided.. The food didn't take long to get to us and our server just seemed to be in robotic mode doing her job- not real pleasantries or such..was just going through the motions .. not once did she come by our table to check in..didnt see her again until it was time for the check..yes the restaurant was busy , but she passed by our table several times ( made us felt neglected as if we didn't existed or she didn't care much for black ppl but was just doing her job) She kinda just popped the check down on the table . Her service clearly didn't deserve an ounce of tip but since its customary for us to do so , we left the $3 & change .. this was the first time we felt sorry for leaving a tip.. She only deserved her paycheck but no tip sadly. The food was ok, but nothing to rave over . I had the eggs Benedict And my husband the hash brown omelette . This is popular local place , but maybe it's for something other than we had...it's ok not worth a long wait in line for in my opinion. Clean atmosphere, cash only but atm inside. If you like a tall glass of juice , then good deal for the average price . If there was a half star rating ,...
Read moreNever will set foot in this place again. We were looking for a diner to have breakfast while in town and found this diner on Google with good reviews. We were originally a party of 3 but they sat us at a 4 seater. Our cousin wanted to eat with us before we left and was in the neighborhood. We had not ordered yet and was waiting on the waitress to let her know about the addition; my cousin showed literally 5 minutes after we sat down. She walk by us with an attitude and called us liars. At first, I was like there's no way she was referring to us until she came to our table with a disrespectful and extremely unnecessary attitude saying it's not cool you guys lied. She proceed to call us liars and claims we tricked them. She talked to us with such disrespect we got up and left because there's no way we are eating at a place who treats people like trash. The waitress actually was encouraging us to leave as we grabbed our belongings. My poor mother had just taken her insulin for her diabetes and needed to eat. We had go to another spot. This place was not a friendly atmosphere and the waitress behavior felt prejudice, uncalled for, there was no inconvenience cause to the diner nor the waitress. If anything we were ready to leave a huge tip because we love to support spot like these. Never again! Unfortunately, I cannot remember her name but will never forget what...
