This review is based on several recent visits. To put it simply, this theater is need of new management. Years ago this theater was great, but now its just a mess, very literally! No matter what time of day you are here the theater has piles of trash and garbage everywhere. You would think that when the theater first opens that bathroom areas would be clean, and the popcorn stations would be straighten up as well. Nope, please see my attached photo. This was taken just after opening, and was in the same condition if not worse 3 hours later. Same with the restrooms. Its no wonder many reviews have mentioned rodent issues in the theaters. Other issues we have encountered recently were trash left in our seats from the previous the showing. I do not mean pieces of popcorn and candy left behind. I am talking half eaten buckets of popcorn, water bottles, candy boxes, and napkins left. The chairs were still even reclined. It was very clear the theater had not been cleaned since the last show. There was also a group of 12/13 year old boys constantly on their phone making phone calls, and playing music loud during the movie. When someone from our group went to get a manager, or staff member to have them removed, no one was found or available to come. Lastly, on our most recent visit something was seriously a foul with the popcorn butter. It was cold and tasted and smelled rancid. I brought this to the attention of the gentlemen at the concession stand. He said the heater for the butter was off and gave us new popcorn. He did turn on the heater, but did not change out the oil/butter. He didn't even check it. Another patron who was near me commented on how awful the butter tasted and through her popcorn away. I am not surprised to see in another review someone mentioned their family becoming ill. This place used to be so much better. Its clear staff is not trained properly, nor is there any accountability going on. It is theaters like this the are just ruing the movie going expierience. No wonder so many would rather...
Read moreBy far the worst movie theater I've ever been too. We went to see an R-rated movie and a group of about eight kids were talking, yelling, laughing, and playing on their phones throughout the entire movie. Three of them were probably 8 y/o, one was about 5 y/o, and three were probably 13 y/o. Nothing was done to stop them. It ruined the experience for us. We ended up leaving 30 minutes into the movie, as did several other groups of people.
To make matters worse, when we left to get reimbursed, the manager took about 15 minutes to come out, she looked at us, didn't speak, and then said "fine" to an employee who asked if we could get reimbursed. Incredibly rude.
Prior to this experience, we saw another movie here and we had a similar experience -- noisy little kids in an R-rated movie. Nothing was done to stop them from entering the theater and nothing was done to intervene and quiet them down. I guess we didn't learn our lesson the first time.
In sum, the management does not care about the age of the movie goers; they will let anyone in to see a movie. The kids in the area most likely know about this, so they take advantage of their negligence and flock to the theater to see movies their parents otherwise would not let them see.
Additionally, it's expensive for the quality of the theater. The seats are uncomfortable and the screen quality is subpar in comparison to other theaters in the area. The employees also seem miserable.
I highly suggest going to ANY other theater in the area, such as Braintree's AMC which has fantastic, comfortable seating and where the management truly cares about the quality of the service.
Stay away from Dedham...
Read moreI bought Lux Level tickets for my partner and I yesterday as my past experience with the Lux Level was always top notch and enjoyable. We hit the service buttons on the seats as generally that's what you normally would do to order. After 20 minutes went by, my partner got up to check to see if anyone would be coming with a menu only to find out that they no longer have waitstaff that service the theaters. Instead, you need to go to the bar to order drinks and food. This change in service is not listed anywhere on the website nor does anyone make you aware of this when you arrive. Insane! We each missed parts of the movie due to having to get up and get beverages and food. Insane! Also, I am not sure why the bartenders are needing to check IDs in order to claim the cocktails that you order when our IDs are checked prior to coming upstairs to the lounge as it is 21+! I fully regretted buying these seats and should have just settled on regular seats below. To add to the frustration, someone below was playing music and loud audio from their phone. My partner told one of the attendants in which I assume they did not do anything as the noise continued. Overall, this was a terrible experience. I fully understand that everyone is short-staffed in today's economy however this is false advertisement. The Lux Level should be shut down and converted to something else as the whole point of it is to be full service. Otherwise, you are just paying to be in a fancy section without perks. If you want a cocktail, you can simply order from the bar in the lobby and bring it with you once the movie starts as stated on a banner. You all...
