7/24/25 Walked in to the bar area and waited for 10 minutes to get a beer finally from the young lady running to go orders, plenty of employees and not really that busy...drank the beer 15-20 minutes employees walked back and fourth never looked at me or asked if I needed anything! Finished the beer the girl that served me the beer eventually came back around and asked if I had been helped. I told her no and was totally pissed off as people came and left. I've been coming here VERY often and Sonny's is now OFF my list. Ill go to Brian's BBQ and they have a nice salad bar! Sonny's BBQ just lost a long term loyal customer....bye!
(Sonny's Owner) - No I do not wish to send you an email thats out of view from people spending their hard earned money on the failure of your staff tonight. Ive been going to this DeLand store for a very long time [corner of 17&92] and tonight was a complete failure on this stores employees with exception to the woman that served me the beer, your employees looked at me, saw me and two of them know me from being in there so often yet was overlooked while being looked right at!!! The one fella that knows me because of me being in there so often (and tipping very well) completely just blew me off... Teetering on 6'9" Im kinda hard to overlook. Ive enjoyed my time there but even decent things often come to an end, I'll be going to Bryan's BBQ from now on....love...
Read moreEverytime I order from here it is extremely difficult to get extra sauce or at least a equal ratio to meat being paid for. I spent $40 on a gallon of sweet tea, turkey dinner, and sonny sampler. I was told the sampler only gets 3 sauces... I'm sorry but this is a BBQ restaurant... which means people want BBQ sauce on their food. Since alot of the food at sonny's comes smoked without ANY sauce on it like the chicken, sliced pork, brisket, etc... that leaves us, the customer, the one with having to add BBQ sauce to our BBQ food from our local BBQ restaurant. With $40 spent on 2 dinners, I would say that the price of your sauces should be already calculated in what you charge. I used to work for Sonny's over 25 years ago in Tampa. The purpose on why they stopped putting the sauce on the food was to give customers their own choice of sauce. Which means you have to provide it in order for a customer to put it on themselves. I would think that in this day and time I would not want to make the customer this upset over BBQ sauce. Especially if it was paid online and someone else is picking it up. Not good, not good at all. Read morewe will not be coming back here anymore after this experience. we waited for 5 minutes at hostess stand before being seated. this is not the first time this happened. anyway, server was ok, meal was fine. didn't get coloring book/kids meal for our child but didn't bring it up. what did it for me was when we went to pay we gave our bonus bucks which was a gift from my parents for Christmas with gift card for a very large amount they purchased. when they got the gift card they said the bonus bucks came with it for spending more on gc and it was just like a gift card just called bonus bucks. since Christmas we have used up the gift card but had bonus bucks left for 20$ so we went to use them and server said they were expired. I said we were never told there was an expiration date and she could sell I was upset so went to check if they could honor it and came back with manager who said they could not use them because it was expired and didn't hsvr a code for it and walked away. I have worked in customer service retail and food service and I know that it is more important to make the customer happy and there is always a way to override or comp something, he just didn't care. sadly we will...
