This is a new review since this was our first visit under the new ownership. My previous review was 5 stars as this was a go-to restaurant of ours since Crabby Dick’s opened many years ago. Tonight our family went to the restaurant like we always do but things went downhill fast. We arrived to a fairly empty place. After we said we were a party of 9 we were asked if we had reservations. We said ‘no’ since we never needed them before. They take us to a round table that only had 7 chairs. We said we are a party of 9 not 7. We got blank stares. They brought over two more chairs to try to stuff us at the table. We said this is not going to work. They were then very confused on what to do with us. This has never been an issue before. They said a lot of the restaurant is closed off due to not being very busy. They put us back into the waiting area to try to figure out what to do with us. They then offered us a table of 8 but no one could sit in the end due to waiter/waitress walking past. We said just split us up into a party of 5 and 4. Then they put two tables together that would fit 6. It was beside a table for two so we kind of stole that table as well. After that frustration it took about 15 minutes to see a waitress after the hostess just threw down the menus and silverware. We ordered 5 bowls of cream of crab soup and 2 cups of cream of crab as appetizers along with our drinks. We get our drinks and after about another 15 minutes Jaylea came over and said that our soup is delayed because they have to make it. It is 530pm how do you not have enough cream of crab soup? 15 minutes turned into 20+. Our meals came out shortly after we were done with our soups. Everyone’s food came out except for mine. I was informed that my Admirals catch was taken by another waiter/waitress and that it would be about 10 minutes for that to come back out. At this point we just wanted to eat and get out since we were there for almost 2 hours. We saw numerous parties coming in and leaving due to no hostess attending the entrance. Jaylea was excellent given the hand she was given. The food is still good but management is horrible. The hostess seemed annoyed that we even came through the door. You can do better. We used to go here multiple times a year, sometimes my in-laws would go here multiple times during the week they are in town. Looking at recent reviews our visit was...
Read moreDrinks to start seemed to have no spirits in them. We know….we drink! I ordered fish and chips which were burnt to the crisp with grey scaly skin in between the fish and the over fried batter. The fries were squishy. My boyfriend had crab and shrimp over linguini. It was just ok served in what seemed to be a Campbell soup variety of either crème of shrimp or crab. Who knows. When we stopped eating a few pieces of popcorn just before dinner luckily, I looked into the basket and there must have been 100 unpopped raw popcorn kernels that were hard as a rock or like pebbles!!!! If I had taken a hefty handful i probably would have broken a tooth or many teeth or crowns!!! I actually had that problem a week ago from a bag of what seemed harmless, Skinny Pop!!!! So I was very aware of my popcorn!!! When the waitress finally came to the table, we told her first about the scaly skin in the fish and chips composite and she simply laughed and said “yea some are like that”! Wow. Then I poured kernels out onto the table cloth and asked for the manager to another waiter. He said he would tell him what I needed. I showed him the inedible condition of the raw popcorn and how that could pose danger to anyone!!! He agreed and said “the popper is at fault sometimes it doesn’t pop all of the kernels”! Well then why do you serve such dangerous food!!! Someone could choke or break dentures or anything! A child could get into trouble as well eating raw popcorn! We won’t go back! We wanted to love it enough to buy one of their rude tshirts but we won’t be doing that ! Love the shirts btw! Stay clear of popcorn and fish and chips and be sure to bring a flask for adding spirits to your drinks if you go but I would double think that until they replace the popcorn machine and get a better...

As a lifelong Rehoboth Beach resident, Crabby Dick's has always held a special place in my heart. Over the years, I had drifted away, but the recent change in ownership has breathed new life into this beloved establishment—and I couldn't be more thrilled!
From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt rejuvenated. The new owners, Michael Murphy and Nick Burke, have not only revitalized the menu but have also infused the place with a genuine commitment to the local community. They took the time to sit with us, sharing exciting plans like introducing "Local Days" with special discounts, and bringing in live entertainment on Thursdays and Sundays. Their passion for giving back is palpable.
Now, let's talk food—because wow! The crab cakes are nothing short of spectacular, bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked. The wings are a delightful surprise, crispy and seasoned to perfection. The seafood sampler offers a generous and delicious variety, showcasing the freshness of their offerings. Even the broccoli, often an overlooked side, was so tasty it became a highlight of the meal!
A particularly charming addition is their new dog-friendly menu, crafted by Jeff Mullen. It's heartwarming to see a place that welcomes our furry friends, making it an ideal stop for travelers heading home with their pets.
Crabby Dick's has truly returned to its former glory and then some. Whether you're a local or just passing through, it's a must-visit spot that promises great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and a team that genuinely cares about...
