Longhorn, as other family chain restaurants, for makerting reasons, are trying to keep prices lower and portions smaller. Today, they remind me of what I used to complain about in fast food restaurants, âwhy doesnât it look like it does in the menu picture?â
Ordering a rib eye steak, on needs to pay attention, did you order a rib eye, with your imagination of the days of a fat steak, yet get their thin, larger looking, vs thick smaller to they eye cut 12oz steak? Make sure if you wanted the 18oz steak, to get the âOutlawâ ribeye. The waiter may not realize the opportunity for the upsell, and avoid disappointment. Then again, the 7 dollars includes bone in, a ploy to increase its weight, and still keep within the lowered portion size. This is a steak house isnât it? Why canât I get a steak, if I want for 50.00 and get what I want? That should be an option right? Again this is my opinion. I hope they do not implement the waiterless checkout, ordering system that does not accurately and over charges tips at their Olive Garden Chain. This is a now device absent fast food Italian like eatery.
Here is the food news! My waiter was wonderful, with one exception. He was paitient, kind, and didnât get frustrated when my table full of 90âs aged women who complained about everything, even what they order, and denying they did. Iâd even one distant cousin complain over and over, why we needed appetizers, I was buying, donât eat them if you donât want, please just be greatful you were invited to me âBirthday Partyâ / excuse for my 97 year old grandmother to have a party with her cousins, as nobody I was friends were there. If I could enjoy otherwise, stop the whining. The waiter again, he paitients and checking on us, was wonderful. Itâs a good thing I left the tip, or he might have gotten some singles. They are used to going to Chinese all you can eat.
Next was a woman who said she was a helper, not the manager, whom I think should be a manager, itâs a shame the company doesnât recognize her, to loose her would be a big loss for this location. She should be a trainer if that! Ann was Extrodanary! She came and felt with all of my first generations child like complaining and simpering about this and that. She made them all happy and thus they were made happy, not a small feat, I could relax. Thank You Ann so much, ask for her if you go. If she is working, then you can be sure she will make your experience as if you were at a family owned and run restaurant. Ann really is the reason Iâd return.
Letâs do go now to the food, letâs skip marketing and portion size and pricing, and talk about food. The food was average, and it got this rating from me because the use of salt was so overwhelming, any spices used were lost in what might find in bar food, way over unhealthy use of salt, vs a professional use of aged meat, marinade and spices vs salt. Each appetizer, really for the average person, not myself were also overly seasoned with spices that create a chemical heat, such as the jalapeños in the shrimp, or making the wings spicy without the hot Sause. The lack of condiments, for everyone, catsup, A1, tobacco (me), not on the table, not offered. They one strange thing for the waiter to do, pour me a second draft, 2/3 full, explains the keg was to be changed, then saying he would top it off, as weâre leaving, he brigs a very small cup of beer to make it up. Give me the option, mam would you like another tap beer? Why a 3/4 full Pilsner, bottom of the barrel, out of two bottled bears, now a tap, so give them the bottom and return with a foam small glass to make up the difference, just not thinking. Can a waiter give you a beer for free? 150.00 bill and a free 3/4 cup of beer, would it have made you broke, giving it as a way of saying sorry our selection stunk and it took way too long bringing it, a beer a little at a time?
Personally, Iâm sticking to a six pack and making my own steak from a place that still has a meat department, fraction of the cost and I know the beer is available for the guests. If I go again,...
Read moreI had a great experience at this Longhorn location today! My boyfriend and I stopped by for an early ish dinner today & were greeted & seated promptly and warmly by our 2 young male hosts. Our server was Kyle and he was attentive without being pushy, uber helpful & accomodating-my boyfriend wanted a chicken sandwich apparently only on the lunch menu & almost had a mini panic attack before Kyle assured him he could still enjoy his favorite dish as desired!), and was always quick to bring us whatever we needed-sometimes before we even asked. I love not having to slowly sip my watery coca cola while anxiety builds that I won't be able to flag down my server before the sweet last drops disappear; there was none of that with Kyle! Food: obviously my boyfriend craves and loves their chicken sandwich-which was seriously ginormous. I got the 6oz sirloin, Mashed potatoes, and Brussels which were slightly extra but worth it in my opinion. The medium rare cook on the steak was PERFECT-wish I was able to contain my excitement to take a photo bc I've been to so many high end steak houses that can't seem to get this right the first time around. I'm a Brasilan, Colombian, and Cuban girl native to New York raised by an Argentinian....suffice it to say, I take my steak very seriously. The flavor of course was milder than my preference but as long as the steak is cooked properly, there's a packet of Sazon in my bag to appease my Latin taste buds, and the Worcestershire sauce Kyle suggested as an alternative to the A1 or Heinz 57 was spot on! Mashed potatoes were perfectly creamy and I appreciated the huge heap of melted butter in the middle I got to enjoy mixing in myself! Lastly the Brussel Sprouts...They're easy to mess up and these were spot on. Simultaneously soft and crispy, perfectly balanced sweetness and spice with the chili honey butter.
All in all I was super impressed and now understand why David loves it here. I have spent more on meals in...
Read moreThee worst experience. I ordered the lobster tail with asparagus, The asparagus was so overcooked you could literally mash it by picking it up with a fork, The manager Julie Smith had thee worst attitude EVER she felt it was necessary to explain to me how asparagus is cooked and how I should order it âL Danteâ when on the website it clearly says steamed asparagus not sautĂ©ed or overcooked asparagus. After wasting over five minutes explaining to me how I should order my asparagus she finally goes to get my asparagus re-cooked and gets mad at me when I asked her if I can get another lobster tail since that lobster tail sat there the whole time while she was explaining to me how asparagus is cooked and I wanted my food to be cooked fresh, she got mad and begin to raise her voice at me as if I was a child. I immediately know when âRaceâ is a factor in mistreatment and it was completely obvious that in this case this manager Julie Smith at this location 1562 S Federal Hwy Delray Beach FL 33483 was clearly upset that a Black woman was the customer. To receive trash as food and then belittled and yelled at by the manager Julie Smith because I recognized that the quality of a $20 meal was below average is flat out WRONG. Nobody should ever be treated the way I was treated by Julie Smith, she was disgustingly rude and obnoxious in her approach as a manager, I feel sorry for her employeeâs she more then likely belittles them and treats them less than. I will definitely be sharing my experience at this location with every social media outlet as well as family and friends. Maybe this location only wants black people in the kitchen and only Caucasians...
