I can only give 2 stars because of the nice ladies at the restaurant. But for the food that I got just an hour ago 4 pm on March 15 well I can only give actually a half star, but Google does not have that, we ordered the chicken Mexicana and the chicken Ranchero for take out, the sauce on both meals is hard to find and I am really sorry to say that from both meals the chicken is very dry, I suspect that the chicken was pre made and just heated up, the rice was okay and the refried beans taste like they come out of a can although they claim they make it all fresh. And totally no salad or guacamole that had to come with my meal. Again the 2 stars is for being nice towards the service and owner, but paying 25 dollars and an extra 5 bucks tip is now in the trash can. Usually we go to our local Cancun on marketplace, but since I read an article in the local Grand Ledge paper, about them being so great, I wanted to give it a try and don't get me wrong I am not spoiled about getting good food, but these 2 meals are an embarrassment. Trash any comment to me whatever you want but I don't think it's worth going back again for me, be my guest and try it your self,,,..... I am really not trying to be so harsh on them and understand that they just are for a short time in business but an honest opinion is asked for so I am not sugar coating it. Sorry guys you need to do better,,, update,,, April First, I understand that this is a small family restaurant, and they try to...
Read moreWe used to really enjoy coming here and have visited many times over the years. The food is decent.
Over our last few visits, we’ve encountered a very rude and argumentative waitress. As it turns out, she's actually the owner. Instead of welcoming guests, she picks arguments over small things like how you refer to menu items. For example, correcting customers over a simple wording choice isn’t just unnecessary—it’s unprofessional.
One of the most off-putting policies is the “one basket of chips” rule. For a Mexican restaurant, that’s already a strange limitation, but what really stands out is how rudely it's enforced.
Today was the last straw. My wife has strict dietary needs and cannot consume sugary or artificial drinks, so she brought a Zevia (a health-conscious soda). The owner insisted it wasn’t allowed per the health department, which is simply untrue. If it were outside alcohol, sure—but this was a non-issue turned into an uncomfortable debate. I tried to explain, and instead of showing any empathy or flexibility, she doubled down with, “Well, it’s my restaurant.”
And that’s exactly the problem. It is her restaurant—and her rude, combative attitude has ruined it for us. We’re a regular party of 5–6 people, not a $10 tab. But we won’t be back, and we won’t be recommending this place to anyone else.
When you’re in the service industry, how you treat people matters. We’ve lost all respect for how this business...
Read moreEdible but inauthentic. Be prepared to season your own food. Perfectly safe food served quickly and competently, but not the place to go for die-hard fans of Central American food.
First, the place has a thrown-together look that the excess of flourescent light does little to help. Nonetheless, it is clean and well-maintained. The service staff are also friendly and prompt, doing their jobs well.
The food, it must be said, was also prepared safely and to the correct consistency. However, the flavors were nowhere near correct when they were present at all.
Chips and Salsa- watery salsa too bland to be helped by salt and chips fried too hard
Birria Tacos-utterly flavorless but for an overabundance of cumin. Meat cooked to a good tenderness but devoid of flavor, cheese totally tasteless. Decent tortillas, but the consomme tastes like cumin and grease.
Okay selection of Jarritos tho. And again, the food is fine, just not quite the...
