I’d like to start with all the good things about this place before I address my issue. The staff was very friendly, the sugar cookies are delicious, and they have great little selection of some grocery items there too. The lunch sandwiches look like they would be so good but we stopped in for breakfast. My family and I stopped in for a couple bagels before we started our day. I never been here and saw the first picture of that lox bagel on their Google and immediately had a watering mouth. The bagels looked extremely fresh and homemade which is very hard to find. We go in and order which was fine. I asked for the bagel triple toasted and said I don’t even care if it’s burnt just please make it extra dark. I also asked for my cream cheese on the side. I am someone who LOVES a bagel burnt. I am not kidding when I say that. I’d rather have it basically black than not toasted enough. We get the bagels and they are extremely thin and only from the outside, they looked nothing like that homemade bagel I saw in the picture. I go to get up and get the side of cream cheese that was forgotten but to my sad surprise, the cream cheese was on the bagel. I am extremely picky about how much cream cheese I put on my bagels so that was one strike. Then I’m just staring at this PALE and basically “raw” bagel. I consider them “raw” if they aren’t burnt. They don’t even have a toaster on site and use a panini press. so don’t know how they expect that signature crunch of a bagel from a panini press? I bit into it, no crunch just cold and chewy. Second strike. Third strike, the bagel literally tasted IDENTICAL to Thomas Bagels from the grocery store. We were so disappointed we literally threw our food away without even taking another bite. I was so upset that this was our experience. I was really looking forward to starting a new Saturday tradition but the search continues for the perfect bagel. I will again say, the pastries are delicious and the other menu items...
Read moreI went to Buckies on 12/31/23 hoping to get a handful of bagels for new years day morning (trying to plan ahead as I wasn't sure what kind of breakfast places would be open on New Years Day). I got to Buckies around 2:30 p.m. I asked if I could get 6 bagels to go. The worker behind the register seemed confused and then attempted to put the order into the computer. Eventually, when I was about to pay, he said they can't just give bagels to go. I asked, "why not"? The worker said, "Because there is no button on the computer for it, so the cooks won't know what to do". There was no line behind me, so I asked if the worker if he could just walk back to the kitchen and explain to the chefs that we just want 6 bagels in a bag (not cutting, no toasting, and no cream cheese/butter). I was willing to pay whatever they charge for a bagel w/ cream cheese/butter, but simply just wanted 6 bagels in a bag, and if possible with cream cheese on the side. The worker was totally baffled by my request and said he cannot do that. It is very hard to believe that a bakery that sells bagels could not accommodate a simple request for 6 bagels to go especially since we were willing to pay the price for a normal "eat in bagel" for take-out purposes. I was disappointed by how inflexible the staff member was being. Just because "there is no button on the computer" should not prohibit a simple order for bagels. Can't comment on the food, since we did not get any, but based on the service and customer relations, we will not...
Read moreWe went in Thanksgiving morning around 10:30. We asked the woman working the counter what time they were open to (knowing it's Thanksgiving and many places were not open). She told me 3pm. I returned to the place at 12:10 with my two other kids. We were ordering at the counter and when a woman in an apron and blonde pony tail came storming out of the kitchen barking that the kitchen was closed. I was so taken back by how rude she was, I replied "ooh I'm sorry, I thought you were open until 3". She barked back "I told you on the phone, the kitchen closed at 12". I replied saying sorry but I did not talk to you on the phone, we were in earlier and asked. She then proceeded to rant that it is Thanksgiving and I should know better. Yes, I'm well aware it's Thanksgiving. But you are in the service industry and chose to open. I stupidly asked if she knew of any place that may be open on Thanksgiving and she was rude again. We found Rory's market down the street to be open, and the kitchen was open, the workers friendly and the food was way better than our earlier...
