We were really looking forward to trying this place, but unfortunately, our experience was frustrating from start to finish. We were seated right away, but that’s where the good service ended. It took 10-15 minutes before anyone came over to take a drink order and even then, she wasn’t our server but noticed that we didn’t have any and asked if anyone had been by considering she had already served drinks to tables that had been sat after us. Drinks arrived quickly, but then we waited another 15 minutes before a second server, who also appeared to be the bartender, came to set up the table with plates and pizza holder - only for us to let him know no one had even taken our food order yet. He looked surprised and returned about 5 minutes later to take it.
We ordered two pizzas and buffalo wings. The server let us know the wings would take 25 minutes since they’re baked from frozen and said he’d stagger the order with the pizzas. The wings took 37 minutes to come out; my son was now keeping track. And they weren’t that great. I get that being baked, they aren’t going to be crispy, but the skin was chewy. When they were dropped, the server told us the pizzas would be out shortly after. After we ate the wings, we waited another 30 minutes with no sign of the pizzas. Again, kids were keeping track. At one point, the server came by to take the dirty plates and chicken scraps and he realized we hadn’t had our pizzas yet. Meanwhile, tables seated after us were getting their food, and even nearby customers noticed and commented on our wait.
We finally flagged down the first server, who seemed genuinely surprised we hadn’t gotten our pizzas yet. The second server returned a few minutes later, apologized, and said the kitchen was busy. My wife said it was all a cover for him forgetting to put our pizza order in. Having worked in restaurants years ago, I agreed. One pizza came out a several minutes later, and the other followed about five minutes after that.
The pizzas were just alright. The cheese was fine, but the Chicken Parm pizza was overcooked - not quite burnt but certainly crispier than the cheese one was. The overall service was extremely disorganized and inattentive. Other tables were being served at a normal pace, so the “busy kitchen” excuse didn’t really hold up. The server had offered to comp one of the pizzas and when we finally got the check I noticed that we had been charged for a total of 4 extra drinks, including a beer I didn’t order. I brought it to the servers attention and gave him the discounted certificates we were using. He went back to adjust the bill. After several minutes, I went up to bar with my card because I just wanted to get out of there after nearly 2 hours. I was told that everything was all set since the bill was less than the certificates after the drink removal. Needless to say, I didn’t get a chance to leave a tip because he didn’t take my card. On our way out, the first server, who had only taken our drink order and got the other server for us, genuinely apologized for our experience. Needless to say, it was a disappointing experience— we...
Read morePretty good spot for a pizza!
I'm not gonna be stuck-up about the review because I'm from NYC - this place so far has the best pizza I've had in the Cape Cod area.
As soon as we walked in, we were impressed how spacious it was. The music was energetic and the decor matched the theme. Like a typical pizza joint in NYC, there's no table service. Just walk up to the counter and order either by slice or a menu item made to order. Staff at the counter was friendly, too.
We got the Knockout Pizza, which was one of their specialty pies with pepperoni, mushroom, meatball (beef), and garlic. The crust was just right, the sauce had a slight kick to it or probably helped by the red pepper shaker, and both the pepperoni and the meatball were tasty. If there's something that could be improved, then it would be that they could layer the toppings a bit better rather than sprinkling a bit of each and they could make sure the whole pie had plenty of sauce, as there were definitely spots that were missing everything but cheese and bread. Think getting a pie in a non-dollar slice pizzeria in NYC - they layer it so well with toppings that you could practically use it as a polka dot pattern fabric. Anyway, small thing that's easily fixed.
Lastly, we enjoyed their soda fountain options. The carbonation was not perfect, but they had some unique flavors and really did help hit the spot in this...
Read moreKnockout Pizza has got to be one of the best pizza places on the Cape, hands down! They’re pizza is made fresh and the dough used has been completely perfected since their opening days. There is always a selection of sliced pizzas to choose from for walk-in customers, but if the preñase slices aren’t doing it for you, it is easy to call ahead or order in person a specially made pizza with pretty much any traditional topping that you want on it. In addition to the fantastic pizza at Knockout, they also provide a selection of wings, garlic knots, buffalo bites, and pepperoni bites, all of which people love. If you crave refreshments then Knockout is still the place to go because of their specialty soda that can’t be easily found anywhere else on the Cape and their selection of canned beers for customers to enjoy. Overall, Knockout Pizza is a great place to go for a slice, a whole pie, and a fun day or night out...
