Anthony's Pizza & Pasta — Restaurant in Denver

Just stopped in for a few slices of pizza. On prior visits I had no issues, but today was different. Multiple employees standing behind the counter, one in a denim vest tapping on a tablet, but no one greeted us or acknowledged our presence. There were no other customers in line, just two seated and already eating, so we waited about a minute before I asked if someone could take our order. The employee in the vest appeared annoyed by this as if we were an inconvenience and said he was already taking an order with the tablet. I replied that that was ok but he could’ve at least told me it’d “be a minute” before I had to come to him. He was further annoyed by this and rudely said he’d take my order then. I told him it was ok, he seemed to have other things to do. As I began to exit he snidely waved to me and nada a snarky comment, so I asked for his name (planning to complain about his rudeness), he refused and ducked behind the wall. Another employee, also refused to give me the name of the one in the vest. When he came back, I again asked for his name to which he replied “What’s yours?”. I told him my name and with attitude he said he’d tell Garrett to expect my call and that he would be telling Garrett that they were busy. I reiterated that we were the only people standing there. He gave more attitude, and we left. All of that because he couldn’t simply look up and acknowledge a guest standing 2 feet in front of him. I don’t spend a lot of money there, maybe 1-2 visits every month or so, whatever I was spending however the ceases today. Hopefully, Garrett soon moves on from employees like this with...

The first time I came to Anthony’s I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. Wasn’t good at all. The dish it’s self was very bland and the meat balls were so dry that I had a very difficult time chewing them. They were like week old horse droppings. You’ll know what I’m talking about if you ever shoveled old horse dung. Im not a complainer and I don’t like to send food back so I just held my tongue and finished what was edible. I didn’t want to judge off of just one experience so I came back today. This time around I ordered the chicken Parmesan. Again, very bland pasta/sauce. The chicken was awful. Breading was soggy, not crisp. I was able to tolerate half the breast but the other half was so hard that I couldn’t even bite off pieces. I would chew on rocks before I would ever try eating this dish again. I had to send it back and ask for a refund. I’m no chef but I get the feeling that Anthony’s food dries out in the freezer by the time they get around to serving it. On a positive note, the staff was friendly, apologized, and refunded my money. I’m not writing this review because I am against the place or mad at any of the staff; I just want them to be aware of the quality of food being served and consider how many people may be getting a sub-par meal and not saying anything about it. I love this pizza, but the interaction i just had with the manager just now made me need to leave a review.

I ordered through Grubhub, and the order was cancelled. Thankfully, after jumping several hoops with 6 or 7 chat reps, i was able to get a refund. But it's past 8:30 pm, and I'm hungry!

So I called the store and spoke with a nice young man who couldn't help me, but was quick to get me a manager. I believe she pronounced her name like Shraka? They were busy, and i know i didnt get the spelling right, but whomever is manager right now, 8:39pm, 10/15/19, she is wonderful. She completely understood all the petty B.S. i was going through with grubhub, and totally made up for it. She went above and beyond to make sure i got my meal in the end, and i thought it was worthy of a shout-out.

If anyone from Anthony's corporate office reads this, the manager i spoke with was patient, polite, and clearly a problem-solver under pressure, as the restaurant sounded very busy over the phone. She did a commendable job, and I'm extremely satisfied with the staff and service.

As a side note, not only was the pizza delicious, but the delivery driver was super friendly, very polite, and ALSO went above and beyond after discovering a mix-up with the drinks we ordered, making sure we were satisfied. I wish every restaurant had this kind of considerate,...
