This review is so long overdue and I want to apologize to CASS and MATT for taking so long to honor the moment you so generously shared with me. About 3 weeks ago I was having a rough day. I was preparing to go out of town, my car was being repaired and I had a rental in its place. On this fateful day, I was living my life trying to be as productive as possible before leaving town, and I got a flat tire. I won't out the rental company here, but I tried to call the rental company, and when I spoke to a representative to get help through their service line, they were rude and unhelpful and I was super frustrated and literally deflated, physically and emotionally.
I happened to be near this Anthonys, and I went inside to take a moment for myself to regroup. I ran into CASS who was so kind, attentive and gracious. I told her my scenario and without hesitation she asked MATT if he was available to help me, and without questioning, MATT changed my flat tire right there and then.
I was so grateful I offered to pay them, or buy their dinner or something. They literally wanted nothing from me and were just so eager and willing to help out of the kindness of their hearts.
The universe can be a funny place, but on this particular day, I was graced by two angels who took the time to care for me, without asking anything in return, and I truly believe if these are the kinds of humans working here, the food is blessed with their kindness too.
Pizza is a fundamental joy maker, but when the people who make it and serve it are literal angels, it tastes that much better. Thank you CASS and MATT for legit SAVING me that day, and my apologies for taking so long to write this review to show my complete an utter gratitude for such a simple act that changed the trajectory of my whole day, and ultimately, my whole life. Please consider giving these humans a raise, or at least the acknowledgment they deserve for being genuinely amazing humans. Anthony's is lucky to have you. I will never forget that and I thank you from the bottom of...
Read moreWhen I picked up my pepperoni pizza ordered online & discovered pepperoni UNDER the cheese, it was unappetizing to me. I was very surprised because if you order a pepperoni pizza by the slice in the very same store, you get it done the New York way (pep "on top") & its great.
So I handed back my untouched pie & asked them to do it over with pepperoni on top. Seems to me a reasonable request to expect product consistency. Website makes no reference to putting the pepperoni under the cheese. An easy ask, an easy fix one might expect.
Instead I got an argument from the manager Dan, who was interested only in a monologue about how they do things - which is...to sum up..if you order a pepperoni pie you get the opposite presentation than if you order a slice. Their attitude is - If you aren't happy about this 180, too bad!! I'm amazed at how rudely he treated me and my friend. Instead of listening he adopted a combative defensive attitude, revealing that if he ever knew anything about customer service, its been long forgotten.
Truth is, I'm not into spending $25 on a pizza & instead of getting something good to eat, I get a lecture from a bully "manager".
All Dan had to do from the get-go was say "I'm sorry let me do it over for you!!" & perhaps suggest to management to add something on the website to alert customers to this 180 situation at the point of ordering. Judging from his reaction, this is not the first complaint he has had on this topic.
Don't shoot the messenger / customer!! It seems to me that management & staff would benefit from a trip to New York and learn that its NOT the New York style to put pepperoni under the cheese. Is that even the style anywhere ??
Too bad as Anthony's USED to be my favorite pizza place & I was loyal to it, & and often overruled my family's preference for Blue Pan, who bends over backwards making sure you are more than happy. I'll be going there from now on. They make a great pizza plus they know where to put...
Read moreThis is the first terrible experience I've had in 12 years of ordering from Anthony's at 700 Colorado Blvd. Both the food and service have really gone down the sewer. First, I have ALWAYS gotten breaded chicken on my pizza for 12 years, even though it's not on the menu. This time they refused, saying repeatedly they couldn't do it. Strike one! I requested a new take-out menu; they don't have any. Strike two! The foreign delivery guy was preoccupied with some lady on his phone WHILE HE WAS AT MY DOOR! Huh?? Strike 3!
As for the food: The Farmer's Salad is now mostly lettuce. The grape tomato (1?) is cut into many microscopic pieces so it looks like you're getting more. The toppings (meatball and GRILLED chicken (since they wouldn't give me breaded)) are shredded and spread out so it looks like there's more. There is LESS. Too many spots were plain cheese, even with TWO toppings!! Even their Sicilian pizza - which used to have tons of cheese - is now more dough than anything.
A very disappointing, sad experience. After 12 years, this will likely be the last time I order from Anthony's. They have really changed for the worse. I am so, SO disappointed they wouldn't give me my breaded chicken after 12 years of gladly accommodating me. (Geez, my middle name is Anthony!) Ciao, Anthony's. Maybe you'll learn from this and go back to being a people's restaurant instead of the selfish money-maker you've become.
I recommend trying another pizza place, or you're headed for a huge letdown - in food and service - at a huge...
