My first visit today will be my last.
I travel to Europe often and I always offer tea to friends when I visit. I found Steep Tea after searching Denver for places that stock tea made by The Tea Spot... For those who don’t know, The Tea Spot originated in Boulder. They carry a variety of flavors. I could have ordered from The Tea Spot but Steep Tea was closer to home.
I found three of the five tea flavors I wanted to buy. One flavor had trouble dispensing. When I asked for help, an employee noticed that the dispenser was completely empty so she went to the back to get a new bag. I had some powdered tea in my bag... I asked the lady if I can get fresh tea from the new bag. She immediately grabbed my bag, dumped out the powdered tea and poured some new tea leaves into my bag without saying a word. It was done with a touch of attitude. Extremely unpleasant and awkward.
I’m sorry but if I’m buying these expensive tea leaves as presents for my friends in France, I don’t want to give them a bag with crushed powder leaves. I should have left without buying anything, but I don’t have time to look for a new place. I spent $70 for three bags and passed on buying a drink for myself to try.
I am giving three stars because the new cashier had a friendly and welcoming attitude. If this cafe hires more people like him, I will consider buying...
Read moreAugust - Went in last weekend for a pickup and noticed something. As soon as I walked in, the lady behind the countertop was busy with stuff and had her back turned. Eventually, she turned around and acknowledged me, saying she was finishing up. I recall waiting maybe a solid minute in silence to actually be serviced. After she was done and knew that I was just there for a quick pickup, she pointed at the bag of food and told me I just grab it and go. I did and left.
Here's the thing. I've worked in the food industry, so I know well enough how some employees can be towards customers or just during a bad day (it seemed slow, btw). She gave the impression of either having a bad day, taking issue with my lack of a haircut, or just making it clear she didn't want to serve an Afro-American. Keep in mind that she (probably) could've easily asked if I was there for the pickup while she did whatever she was doing.
That all being said, the food was deliciously great and surprisingly filling. I'd really like to go back, but the potential racial matter's a gamble, especially if they know it's me when I place...
Read moreSo my fiancé and I were just driving around trying to find a good place for a late breakfast that didn't have a wait that was more than 30 minutes---what were we thinking?
Anyway, we on a whim drove past Snooze on Colorado which looked like it was having a block party but it was just their wait line and we drive around the corner to Steep. Never having been there I told myself I'll at least grab a tea or something---I was seriously completely surprised! And sad at the same time that I had not noticed this hidden gem sooner.
I am a vegetarian and not doing research on a place before I go there is somewhat of a risk but omg they had something good for EVERYONE! I've always missed my pop tarts since no longer eating meat and words don't describe how pumped I was that they had VEGAN "popsters". SOOO good!!! And don't get me started on their breakfast EMPANADAS...I was in heaven...amazing, surprising and glorious breakfast heaven. We ended up getting another breakfast empanada before heading out and my fiancé loved his smoked chai that they make in-house.
GO. Now! 350,000,000...
