Having recently moved to the Stapleton area, we were looking for a new place to have breakfast, so we walked to Etai's Bakery Cafe. I am glad we did.
I ordered my regular/standard breakfast of eggs, toast, and fruit. I wish I had ordered potatoes, instead of the fruit, as the eggs were a little runny. I used the toast to help soak up the runny yoke (I'm guessing water was used to help cook the yolk), which is ok. Next time, I'll know better. Anyway, my breakfast was fine, nothing spectacular. My husband had the huevos rancheros, which he said were very good. His breakfast looked better than mine, next time I'll have to give it a try.
This restaurant serves breakfast and lunch. They have salads, sandwiches, rice bowls, sides, pita sandwiches, and of course, breakfast items. Their baked goods look great, and they are. We also split a cherry pastry too, yummy!
The interior of the restaurant is clean. There is a small ramp, which you walk down, to go to the counter to order. I like that the order counter is not directly inside the door, there is space to walk around, or grab a table and wait for other people in your party to arrive. They also have juices, smoothies, and coffee. The interior is bright and friendly, come on in, relax, and leave your worries at the door, type of interior.
The staff is friendly, and will answer your many questions, all taking their time to give you give service. There is table service, as they give you a number type counter, so the person who brings you your food, knows which table to take the food too. The coffee was good. I should have asked what brand they use, next time. Parking is on the street, or in the parking lot across the street, and around the corner.
All in all, a good experience. We will go back, as it was a pleasant...
Read moreI have celiac disease and have always felt confident eating at Udi's since they are a gluten free brand. One would assume that they train their staff to be very diligent at keeping track of their orders since they serve both regular sandwiches and gluten free sandwiches. Last week I had lunch here and ordered a gluten free sandwich. I was brought my lunch and had already eaten half of my sandwich when I realized they brought me salad and I had ordered sweet potato fries. I stopped a waiter and told him and asked if I could get the fries instead. He was very rude and almost insinuated that I was trying to pull a fast one on him or something and said he would have to go and see about that. I watched him walk up to the kitchen and pull my receipt and the he came back to tell me that I was served the wrong sandwich. I asked him if the bread I was given was gluten free to which he replied no and I of course started to panic and told him that I have celiac disease. He apologized, however he didn't seem to understand the seriousness of the situation nor did he seem to really care. Consequently, I was vomiting for nearly 48 hours, the inside of my mouth broke out in ulcers which didn't clear up for 5 days, and I broke out in a horrible itchy rash that is all over my knees and elbows. This was a terrible dining experience and probably my last dining experience at Udi's. I hope that this review encourages you train your staff to be more diligent about their job. There are serious consequences to people who suffer from celiac disease if they are served...
Read moreMy family has dined here a handful of times the past few years, previously Udi's, good food, and no major complaints. But we stopped there for late lunch a few days ago. It's been awhile since we dined there and we always got the turkey sandwich with avocado and jalapeno bread (dont recall the exact name) it's a great sandwich and basically worth what you pay. First issue, wanted to try something different and the cashier seemed irritated that we weren't ready to order, even though there wasn't anyone else waiting to order. Maybe because i didn't want her suggestions of only the spicy foods on the menu. I love spicy, but not every day in every way. Secondly, i ordered the kids slider cheeseburger for my toddler, it came to the table way too pink in the center and my kid ate some of it, only to have mysterious GI upset that only the doctor could pinpoint to the undercooked burger. And lastly, their liberal point they're making by having two unisex bathrooms is really annoying and was uncomfortable for my wife. She took our daughter to the restroom after a gentleman had came out, only for urine to be all over a seat ( i guess since it doesn't have an adult urinal for men?). She was grossed out by basically having to use a dirty men's bathroom for herself and our child.
All in all this is a great place for dirty trendies. I'd rather go to Chipotle across the street or even Noodles..which has fair service as well, but is more family friendly with same-sex bathrooms. Sorry Etai's, you lost...
