I was visiting Denver and was looking for an after dinner treat. It was too chilly outside for ice cream but I found Miss Molly's Bakery which was open late on a Saturday night. When we entered, we were greeted with a warm welcome from a smiling face and we took a few minutes to decide what to try, finally settling on a couple of whoopie pies and a molasses cookie. The chocolate whoopie pie was absolutely divine. The chocolate cake outer layers were soft and spongy, lightly sweet and not overwhelming. The cream was rich and sweet and the amount was generous. The molasses cookie tasted like it came straight out of grandma's kitchen and directly in to our mouths. The texture was just perfect, soft but with a slight bite. The flavor of the cookie was very spice forward and the added sugar on the outside gave it some extra sweetness and a pleasant slight crunch. To top it all off, this was probably the most reasonably priced food I had in the city while I was there. I had to double check that everything had been rung up because the price just seemed too low for what we received. This is a wonderful spot to grab some handmade baked goodies at a price that can't be beat. I'll definitely be back if I am in...
Read moreMy wife and I had recently left The Museum and I wanted some pastries. We were driving down Colfax and I saw the sign for Miss Molly's Bakery across from Bonfils Theater. We circled the block, parked and proceed inside. The Bakery was very clean and spacious. I regret that I didn't get the name of the gentleman behind the counter, because he was delightful! There was a display case full of goodies! Lemon pies, coconut pies, turtle cheesecake, red velvet cheesecake, peach cobbler cheesecake, cinnamon rolls and I know that I missed some. I didn't know what to get so I got a cinnamon roll,a lemon pie, and a slice of peach cobbler cheesecake. I ate the cinnamon roll tonight after I warmed it up and Baaabbbyyyy, I was not disappointed!! It had the perfect ratio of cinnamon and dough. The dough was excellent, it wasn't overworked and tough nor underworked and chewy. It was perfect. The filling wasn't CINNAMON with a hint of sugar but a nice cinnamon/sugar combination. The icing was too much for me, however I don't like icing on anything so we won't count that against them. I'll review the others later on. If the cinnamon roll is any indication, I'm looking forward to them.
Update: The Peach Cobbler...
Read moreFirst impressions are everything! My first time here, I arrived 10 minutes after opening time, doors locked, although I did see two employees baking in the back. There was another customer waiting outside as well, I had a nice visit with him! 15 minutes later (other customer already left) a person showed up and opened the door. She didnât acknowledge me at all. I asked if they were indeed open, all she said was yes, leaving me standing outside. The lights were still not turned on, but I went inside anyway. Behind the counter now, that same person completely ignored me while she went about messing with things, her back toward me. I asked again, âyou guys are open, right? She said âyes.â She turned back to what she was doing, leaving me thinking she really just wanted me to leave!! She finally turned and asked,âdo you want something?â â yes! I want 10 blueberry, lemon muffins!â After paying, I decided to let that person know just how horrible her treatment of me was! It was as if she truly would have been fine and actually seemed as if, she were inviting me to simply walk out!! Unfortunate, because the muffins are amazing!! However, the way I was treated, Iâll...
