This first visit in 5 years. I deleted former review as would been incorrect. My companion and I enjoyed a wonderful lunch their on Tuesday 8/14. As my vision is very bad now at 72. I have hemianopia a condition in which the visual fields of both eyes are cut by half. The first very important impression was of general cleanliness of dining area. Later the same can be said for facilities. It seems if bath or dining area not clean I wonder about the cooking areas and kitchen help. I will return as for $24 with 20% tip we had good service and excellent meals. There are restaurants unnamed I will not return as facilities in total did not seem sanitary. No alcohol and indoor did not notice TV. If Spices was near full I think it would be uncomfortable to me with age impairments but food with thevisit. Service can seem slow but food was presented hot looking fresh. After several more visits the Denver omelette , hash browns pancake are delicious the maple syrup is provided warm. Be sure when ordering to express how cooked you want meats or eggs. Has outdoor eating area on West side. Noise level is low enough that normal conversation...
Read moreMy favorite breakfast spot in Denver gets overlooked for trendier establishments. It's also easy to overlook this place given that the building it's in is packed with other businesses and just when you think you've found them all, there's another.
The entrance to Spices is on Humboldt. There's some outdoor seating and indoors exist both tables and a counter. Grab a menu when you walk in and order and pay at the register. They'll bring you your food, wherever you choose to sit. I've never had a bad meal here.
Some key things that I love: The classical music. They always play classical and I love it. The hashbrowns. They are hand shredded, never frozen, and always amazing. The crowd, or lack thereof. I want this place to do well, so I won't complain too hard if this changes, but so far every time I've visited it's been really pleasant and chill. The service is always friendly and fast.
We used to live in walking distance and now we don't at all. I'm happy they've survived the pandemic this far. If you haven't tried this place, do it. You'll get a nice meal in pleasant environment and that's a...
Read moreI had to post a review to help other people out from making the mistake that I made. Unfortunately the reviews may confuse others into believing this place is good in any way, which it is NOT. Staff was friendly but that’s about all the praise I can give. It was pretty dirty, flies inside and mice running around outside on the patio area. I can forgive that since they keep the doors open but the food gets no forgiveness at all. The chicken sandwich I ordered was terrible, no seasoning on anything and the chicken was as dry as sand from the Sahara desert. I also tried the corn chowder which was watery and bland, I felt like I was in the Middle Ages while I ate the few bites I could force myself to swallow. I have been in food service my whole life and I am currently a chef so I don’t get on here to beat anyone up. It was just excessively bad and I feel like people need to know before they go in and spend their money. Some adjustments need to be made at Spices or these reviews will...
