i didn’t consult the internet for hours before visiting, walked up at between 09:30 and 11:00 (check my messages). but it was absolutely before open at 11:00. despite being closed, the open sign was lit, two employees were dressed and standing talking, and the front door was unlocked. i thought it was a breakfast place driving by so i was confused when all of the above happened, then the girl at the front counter said “oh we’re actually closed” with her hands behind her back. I thought they were joking at first, and then I started to laugh. They just stared at me, didn’t even say sorry or anything about the front door being unlocked. never coming back to try it lol i’ve never experienced such poor customer service before in the midwest. 😂
just in case i’m by no means a Karen i’ve lived in the town a decade been a manager at several local places and been paid handsomely and i’m probably the easiest most bubbly customer. i’ve been a server too long i know what that’s like too. to then be stared at like im from saturn or something 😆 i thought it was a test
after reading their reply its apparent i passed said test lol i would have absolutely loved to haver seen the cams and the subsequent aftermath 🍿😂they got snippy with me i only have the screenshot of the first half because they removed it later it’s too bad. lol apparently not able to hold decorum or respond in a professional manner they said that the camera footage did not exist or else they would have used it?? idk. just sounded like a small tantrum. i’ve done it too it was a long time ago i get it. but dang who hurt you
too bad they cannot take actual money or constructive criticisms 👍✌️(they literally cannot accept cash at all)
oh yah i had forgotten to mention i had 2 children under 10 with me so that set just the greatest example 🤩🤩
it all just made me laugh the silly thing is i was never upset in the slightest. lol i just don’t got time for places that make customers uncomfortable or awkward! 😂👎

Read moreDerby is lucky to be home to one of only four Waffle Bus locations in the United States, and this modern fast-food gem is nothing short of marvelous. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere grabs your attention – bright red walls with sleek white and stainless steel trim give the space a bold, trendy, and contemporary vibe.
The menu is where Waffle Bus truly shines. It’s creative, fun, and different from your typical fast-food stop. Think crispy chicken tenders, sliders, waffle fries, and waffles that are both comfort food classics and fresh takes on favorites. Their shakes stand out as a highlight, blended with the cereal of your choice, making every visit a nostalgic but innovative treat. And if that’s not enough, the milk and cereal bar seals the deal as the perfect finish to your meal.
The dining room itself is spacious and inviting, with a massive wall-to-wall TV showcasing guests and reviewers enjoying Waffle Bus – a lively backdrop that adds to the fun experience.
Ordering is hassle-free, whether you’re a first-time visitor or a regular. Self-serve kiosks make it easy to take your time without pressure, or you can swing through the drive-thru for quick convenience.
Overall, Waffle Bus in Derby is a modern twist on fast food that feels fresh, innovative, and exciting. With its one-of-a-kind menu, stylish interior, and customer-friendly ordering, it’s a must-visit spot that puts Derby on the map for...
Read moreFor starters, this place was busier than Texas Roadhouse on Valentine’s Day but for good reason! The Waffle Bus has given Derby something we’ve needed for a while and that’s a good, quick serve chicken place. The atmosphere is very cool and airy with high ceilings and a massive display board. Since I was taking my order to-go, I got ahead of the line by placing my order through the website as opposed to ordering at the kiosk. I would highly recommend doing so if you plan to get takeout! The food itself was what I expected. I got the spicy tender basket and added two original tenders along with mac & cheese. The original tenders are very reminiscent of a certain well-known chicken place that only serves fingers. They don’t try to hide this as one of their sauces is called HurriCANE sauce. The Waffle Bus tenders did seem slightly larger than Cane’s but the breading is nearly identical in my opinion. The waffle fries were well-seasoned and paired well with the tenders. The spicy tenders were also very good, slightly less spicy than what I would consider Nashville Hot though. The mac & cheese was creamy and balanced the heat of the spicy tenders well. Overall, I was impressed with the quality of the food and experience. Often times when a place is constantly inundated with customers, the quality of food and service suffers. This wasn’t the case with The Waffle Bus which says a lot about the...
