Hooters — Restaurant in Destin

I entered this restaurant at approximately 10:35 on the evening of August 30, 2024, so I can only vouch for the quality (of lack of) for this time as opposed to lunch time.

Let's begin with the service:

SERVICE - AWFUL

It took several minutes for me to be seated, as no one noticed me except the bartender. Eventually, she realised no one else was going to seat me so she came over to help. This was just the first of many issues with this restaurant.

After I was given a menu, I had enough time to look through the entire menu twice and read some emails before the waitress came over and asked what I wanted to drink. I ordered the Twisted Texas Melt with fries with a glass of water. Once my food and drink came (I was mistakenly given tater tots instead of fries AND overcharged for them), I was ignored for remainder of my time here until I was given the bill.

To be fair, there only seemed to be 2 active waitresses on the floor and a manager, so this place seemed short-staffed. However, there were not many customers at the time and most of the tables were empty. After I received my food, the waitress did not check on me even once -- which meant no refills or inquiries on whether I wanted to order anything else. She just merely gave me the bill after she remembered I was there, which was 30-45 minutes after I had finished eating.

Apparently, I wasn't the only who was disgruntled with the service. The table next to me summoned the manager to lodge a list of complaints about the service, so I wasn't alone with my opinions.

FOOD - DECENT

The Twisted Texas Melt wasn't bad. The cooks did their job. I have no complaints, but I don't think the burger was worth $15 plus tax.

I would've ordered more to provide you with an elaborate review, but I was never given the chance, since I was practically ignored during most of my time here.

ATMOSPHERE - AWFUL

Upon entering, my first instinct was to walk back out. Several of the tables still had rubbish and uneaten food from the previous parties.

One of the girls sat me down at a table with an empty beer bottle from another customer. There was also some rubbish strewn about the floor, and it didn't seem like the restaurant had come off a rush either.

The bathrooms smelled awful, and the floors seemed sticky throughout parts of the restaurant. The building appeared to look aged, and the opening/closing times outside are outdated.

If these things don't bother you, you can always watch the sports on the numerous television sets. At least that part was functioning like normal.

PARKING

This is the best feature of the place. The restaurant is located in front of Wal Mart, so there are no shortage of parking spots. Also, with the few customers, you're always guaranteed space.

CONCLUSION

If this restaurant was the classic example of dining out, then I would never eat out again. This has been the worst experience I had in quite some time. If you're in the Destin area, there are many superior restaurants to choose from -- DO...

If I could give lower than a one star I would. I started going here about a year ago just for the hotdog and fries, nothing special. Well as the months wore on the food and the service would get progressively worse.

My second to last visit, I was seated, and then repeatedly bypassed by three different servers as they seated people all around me and then waited on them, even though they came in after me. After roughly 10 mins without someone even asking me what I wanted to drink, I just get up and leave. After I get home I called the manager to complain who apologized. Ok, one last chance.

I visit today, 23may2016, for what is to be the last time and I had by far the worst service I've ever had at a restaurant. The waitress takes my order, Pepsi, cheese sticks, hotdog and fries. She comes back with my Pepsi, then returns about 5 mins later with my hotdog and fries, after that I never see her again, so I didn't even get everything I ordered. I end up finishing my drink not even a quarter of the way through my meal which sucked, so I had to eat the ice cubes to quench my thirst since I was never offered a refill...by anyone.

Finally after finishing my lukewarm hotdog and soggy fries, I'm sitting there, plain as day, waiting...and waiting some more. After easily 10 mins I make eye contact with one of the waitress who asks me if I need anything to which I reply, the check. She brings me my check which was luckily missing my cheese sticks, just like I did, and then takes what felt like an hour, but was probably more like 5-7 mins to tell me the manager has to cash me out since my disappearing waitress is outside.

So finally the manager comes over with my tab, and just plops it down on the table with a "here ya go" comment and simply walks off. No inquiry as to what happened, no apologies for the horrible service by his wait staff, no, we gave you a discount for your troubles, no explanation as to why my waitress decided it was a good time to go MIA without having someone cover her tables. Just a "here ya go"...Well "here you go" Hooters! Your service is horrible, your food is bad and your wait staff is a joke and they desperately need to be reeducated on proper serving and waiting techniques.

I won't be coming back to your establishment and I hope this review stops people from visiting you as well, you don't deserve their...

I was so excited to go to a Hooters in Florida as I work at a few locations in the Chicagoland area! I took my boyfriend there with me and we had a blast! Instantly we were greeted by our lovely Hooters Girl Kimmy (she was so positive and upbeat! Not only that she was extremely helpful the entire time! Kimmy was also very attentive to every question we had throughout our meal!) We ordered the fried pickles (my choosing I absolutely love them!) as well as the mozzarella sticks (my boyfriends choosing since he’s not a huge pickle person!). The appetizers came out super fast! While we were waiting for our first dish we placed our entree order which I got the smoked Texas BBQ wings (dry rub) while my boyfriend got the naked wings with the garlic- parm (sauce based) along with the amazing curly fries with a cheese cup! note to anyone getting fries the cheese cup makes it so much better! Not too long after we finished our appetizers the entrees came out and they were fantastic! I have never had smoked wings as we don’t carry them at my locations but I was extremely impressed with how they tasted along with everything else! Besides the food I also got a t-shirt to add to my hooters shirt collection:) I would love to thank Kimmy for making this trip so amazing for our first time at a Florida location! Keep doing what your doing girl because you were amazing! For those reading the reviews please take this one into consideration when choosing where to eat as this is a location you can not pass up! (As for the negative comments you may see, please keep in mind every restaurant will have their ups and downs if it stinks the first time around it can only go up as everyone there seemed so hard working they’re human just like everyone else they’re allowed to have a mistake here and there! Again I would like to say a huge thank you to our server, Kimmy anyone that comes to this location should definitely...
