We had a reservation made 2-3 days in advance for 8 people at 8m. They took my name and phone number said I was all set. One the day of our reservation I get a call at 7 pm asking if we are still coming because we never put a deposit in. I said I was never asked for a deposit, otherwise I would 100% put it in. I said yes we are still coming she also said don’t worry about it we will see you at 8. I said awesome. We were already at monarch club downtown so not too far away. We get there and the GM laura lora not sure how to spell it tells me that I failed to put a deposit and they cancelled my reservation. I explained to her that no one asked me and that they just called an hour ago to confirm if I was coming. If it was that crucial why didn’t they ask when confirming. I would have put it down. She tells me we sent it via email. I don’t check my junk mail emails often. I also didn’t give an email only my name and phone number. If you found an email and didn’t foreshadow I need to pay a deposit how am I held responsible. D prime dropped the ball 3 times. First time was on the initial phone call not asking for a deposit to book. Second one was calling and hour before the reservation to confirm and still not taking the deposit. Third, is with laura when we were there at 7:56 pm whole group and she tells me she cancelled our reservation and can’t get us in until 9:30-10. It’s not my problem your hosts and managers don’t communicate with each other. Why would you cancel when I just confirmed? Why not call back and say sorry but we need a card on file to keep it held. I have no problem paying a deposit. I was explaining to Laura how angry and upset I was and told her there was 2 tables cashing out she should push them together for 8. She told me she has two tops to accommodate. But she also had to accommodate us. She then told me “do I need to call security.” Meanwhile, you can check the cameras I didn’t scream, I didn’t cuss, I didn’t get physical. I was just standing my ground and repeating what went wrong and telling her I don’t accept her solution of giving me the cocktail lounge when I booked a table. She threatened me by calling security. They showed up. But did nothing because I wasn’t out of line. I just wasn’t accepting her solution. It’s embarrassing to call security on someone falsely for no apparent reason. I’m sorry Laura might not have restaurant and hospitality experience in a REAL restaurant judging by how she handled the situation. I work and have worked for many fine dinning restaurants all over the state. Hospitality wasn’t even existent here. They think because they are in a casino they have people walking in they don’t care to be hospitable. It’s fine, I get it but that’s why restaurants keep changing at this location and management as well. So on top of this horrible experience for my sisters birthday. They didn’t offer to buy us dessert or any appetizers. Laura didn’t even apologize, she kept saying it was my fault for not checking my email to put a deposit. An email that I never supplied them with! Honestly whoever is reading this review go to a restaurant downtown like selden standard, Olin, wright and company, lelias, somewhere where they act like a restaurant vs something in the casino where they treat you like a number. They don’t have to build clientele they have it walking through the casino doors. But I’m telling you if this building was free standing it would have been closed down based off the hospitality. Mind you we spend over $1000
Diamond our server was great. She had nothing to do with...
Read moreThis was a very disappointing experience for my husband and I. Words can't even explain how sad I am that I decided to patronize this restaurant to celebrate my anniversary. I couldn't even sleep last night, constantly thinking about the 178$ we wasted at this restaurant. Our reservation was at 7pm to which we arrived on time and was seated promptly. We ordered our drinks and an appetizer. The drinks were two Bombay Sapphire and the appetizer was the chilled cocktail shrimp. The drinks were made to perfection and the appetizer was simply so-so. I must say we've had much better chilled shrimp cocktail from restaurants not classified as upscale. We ordered our entrees shortly after we placed our drink and appetizer order. We waited, waited, and waited well over 45 minutes until I finally asked our server why our wait was so long to be served our food/entrees. As we waited, we watched as other patrons who were seated after us, and served their meals. When I enquired about our entrees and why there was such a long wait, our server told us that because my husband requested his steak medium well and the other customers ordered their steaks medium rare, my husband's steak takes longer to cook. I've never heard of such a thing and what a poor excuse; especially after waiting over a half an hour to 40 minutes. I guess everyone that ordered a steak after my husband ordered his steak, was medium rare. My entree consisted of a simple side of grilled shrimp "Oscar Style". By the time our food arrived, my husband and I were annoyed and ready to leave. We both became very frustrated after watching other people come in, be seated, served their food, pay their bill and leave. During our wait, we did ask to speak with the manager on staff. Once the manager, Chardavia Fuqua, approached our table and I explained my concerns to her, she showed no empathy and was very nonchalant toward our issues. She did not offer to accommodate us in any way nor did she offer any form of compensation for our wasted time and effort.
She basically asked us did we want to move forward with keeping our meal and eat there, have the server box it up for us, or would we rather the kitchen trash it. After being in total shock by her response; we opted to have the server pack up our entrees as a carry out. Once we arrived home and unpacked our food I became even more disappointed to the point I was literally in tears. My husband's steak was over cooked with mostly fat. My grilled shrimp was scorched and their version of "Oscar Style" was 3 crispy (raw) stalks of asparagus and 6 pieces of lump crab meat placed on top of the shrimp.
I'm so disappointed in myself for choosing this restaurant as a place to celebrate something that meant so much to my husband and I. I just keep replaying the entire night over and over in my head. It's almost as if I'm traumatized. I will never consider this restaurant again to celebrate a special occasion. If and when I'm ever asked about my visit, I will definitely share me...
Read moreI walked into here to personally make my reservation last Wednesday, for last night at 9 p.m. Hostess that made the reservation assured me it had been set & informed me to be there within 10 minutes of reservation time, or it would be cancelled. Arrived there 10 minutes prior to the reservation, only to be told that my reservation wasn't set. Was eventually seated for dinner, 15 minutes later. It took an an additional 30 minutes to place order. My drink arrived in a dirty snifter, with some of the drink running down the side of the glass & then seemed to be burned onto the side of the glass (why did the bartender feel that it was ok to send out an order that way, & why did the server actually bring it to me like this??). I alerted the server & he brought me a new drink, with a significant amount of my drink now missing. Finally ordered the Swiss Onion soup (2 1/2 stars), 14 oz ribeye steak cooked to medium & the Caesar salad. The ribeye was cooked closer to medium well & was bland. It took a while for the server to check on my table & honestly felt very neglected during my dinner. Maybe he assumed I wouldn't tip him & it seemed he was working to make it a self-fulfilling prophecy. I informed the server that my steak wasn't the right temperature & that I could barely cut into it. He grabbed his manager & she eventually came over & asked what was wrong. I informed her about the lost/cancelled reservation & about my steak being overcooked. She asked if she could get me another steak. I told her yes & that I was very hungry. She brought out a new steak that was cooked correctly, but it was still very bland. Had to flag down the server, yet again, for another drink (no water refills or asked if another drink was desired). Was given a complimentary dessert that I supposed was supposed to smooth things over. For the price point of this restaurant, the service was poor. $242 & felt invisible & like an inconvenience. Wasn't overly demanding or acting diva like. I just expected my service to match the price point. I liked this place better when it was Wolfgang Puck, because the service, quality of food & portions actually lined up & my experience was far superior. I won't ever come back to D. Prime. If you're considering it, please reconsider your choice & go somewhere where they're committed to giving the full dining experience & don't make you feel like an...
