What a complete disappointment! I would give zero or negative stars if it would let me! I have been a Limousine/party bus/executive shuttle driver in the city for YEARS! When clients ask where to go for fine dining(and they ALWAYS DO), I always recommend your establishment. A few days ago, when a client asked a good place to bring her friends to celebrate a 40th birthday, my answer was quick. I told her to make a reservation. THANK YOU FOR MAKING ME A LIAR! You’re entire staff was a COMPLETE EMBARRASSMENT TONIGHT! I brought a group of 13, with reservations. They rented our executive shuttle, and being that they all own businesses and are executives in Detroit, the drive was about 20 minutes. They did not have time to drink, they did not have time to party. It was not a party bus and your staff embarrassed them, refused to serve them a group of 13 ordered only four shots for the ladies, one for the birthday girl included while waiting a very long time for their dinner they tried to order four more while waiting and were told that they could not order more until after their dinner was served and they had eaten. Are they children? They were actually told, “BECAUSE THEY WERE ON A “PARTY BUS”. Your rude employees tried to shame my clients because of their race, it was so blatant! Did you not think their money was good enough? The restaurant was practically empty(on a Friday night)They spent $1000 on dinner and four shots. And you rudely had them leave, you’ve ruined her birthday. They rented an executive shuttle just so they could seat 13 and you treated them like they were garbage. I will never recommend you again and when clients call ask me to take them to you I will tell them no and I will tell them why. Trust me, they listen to my recommendations and where to go in the city. Nice job, you racist jerks! You’re on the wrong side of history! You should all be ashamed! Just know I will be posting this all over social media and like I said, in my profession people listen to my recommendations. I will take them to Pío. The food is so much better, the prices are better. I only have been recommending you because of the adjacent park that my grandson likes to walk through. I hope no one visits your establishment ever again and your business tanks! There is NO ROOM FOR RACISM IN THIS CITY OR ANY OTHER....

Lumen is definitely a pillar of modern elegance in Downtown Detroit! The first thing that catches your eye is the stunning floor-to-ceiling windows. The natural light pours in, casting an elegant glow throughout the dining area. It's a breathtaking sight that sets the tone for the rest of your dining experience.

The space is designed with modern touches that are sleek without feeling cold or sterile. The vibe is lively and upbeat but isn't too loud. Having to shout across the dinner table is one of my least favorite aspects of dining in some places.

Lumen has unique heated chalets lining the periphery of the building. I haven't dined in one yet, but it's on my bucket list. These cozy little chalets offer a private dining experience that's perfect for a romantic date or a small group. They're a great way to elevate your dining experience and get some great Instagram pics.

Lumen shows mastery in their cocktail menu as well. The cocktail list is expertly crafted with something for every palate. From classic favorites like the Detroit Sour to more adventurous creations like the Hex on The Beach the cocktail menu is impressive. But if cocktails aren't your thing, don't worry. Lumen has an extensive wine list that's sure to satisfy even the most discerning oenophile.

Lumen's food menu is a perfect fusion of classic and modern flavors. I'm impressed how they were able to tie both fares together. The Everything excited to try them when I previewed that menu at home. The wings are crispy and flavorful, drenched in a tangy dill ranch. The cheese celery salad that accompanies it is an unexpected twist that adds a fresh burst of flavor and crunch to the dish.

The Honey Bourbon Salmon is a recent (I think) addition to the menu. On past trips to Lumen, I ordered a different salmon dish and was bummed it disappeared, but this new addition is equally as tender and flavorful. The salmon was perfectly cooked and glazed with a sweet and tangy honey bourbon sauce that's simply irresistible. The wild rice pilaf is a perfect complement that added a vibrant flavor.
