Lumen is definitely a pillar of modern elegance in Downtown Detroit! The first thing that catches your eye is the stunning floor-to-ceiling windows. The natural light pours in, casting an elegant glow throughout the dining area. It's a breathtaking sight that sets the tone for the rest of your dining experience. The space is designed with modern touches that are sleek without feeling cold or sterile. The vibe is lively and upbeat but isn't too loud. Having to shout across the dinner table is one of my least favorite aspects of dining in some places. Lumen has unique heated chalets lining the periphery of the building. I haven't dined in one yet, but it's on my bucket list. These cozy little chalets offer a private dining experience that's perfect for a romantic date or a small group. They're a great way to elevate your dining experience and get some great Instagram pics. Lumen shows mastery in their cocktail menu as well. The cocktail list is expertly crafted with something for every palate. From classic favorites like the Detroit Sour to more adventurous creations like the Hex on The Beach the cocktail menu is impressive. But if cocktails aren't your thing, don't worry. Lumen has an extensive wine list that's sure to satisfy even the most discerning oenophile. Lumen's food menu is a perfect fusion of classic and modern flavors. I'm impressed how they were able to tie both fares together. The Everything excited to try them when I previewed that menu at home. The wings are crispy and flavorful, drenched in a tangy dill ranch. The cheese celery salad that accompanies it is an unexpected twist that adds a fresh burst of flavor and crunch to the dish. The Honey Bourbon Salmon is a recent (I think) addition to the menu. On past trips to Lumen, I ordered a different salmon dish and was bummed it disappeared, but this new addition is equally as tender and flavorful. The salmon was perfectly cooked and glazed with a sweet and tangy honey bourbon sauce that's simply irresistible. The wild rice pilaf is a perfect complement that added a vibrant flavor. Lumen is a must-visit destination for anyone looking for an elevated dining experience in downtown Detroit. The combination of stunning design, expertly crafted cocktails, and delicious food make it a true pillar of modern elegance.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Lumen, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The moment I walked in, the ambience greeted me with a relaxed and inviting atmosphere, setting the stage for a delightful evening. First and foremost, the food at Lumen is simply outstanding. I had the pleasure of trying their Honey Bourbon Salmon, and it was a culinary masterpiece. The salmon was cooked to perfection, tender and flaky, with a glaze that provided a delightful balance of sweetness and smokiness. Each bite was a burst of flavors that left me craving for more. But the culinary delights didn't stop there. The Crabcakes at Lumen were absolutely phenomenal. They were generously filled with succulent crab meat, delicately seasoned, and perfectly seared to a golden brown. Each bite was a heavenly combination of textures and flavors, leaving a lasting impression. To complement the meal, I ordered the Caesar Salad, and it was a refreshing accompaniment. The crisp romaine lettuce, tangy dressing, and perfectly shaved Parmesan cheese made it a classic Caesar salad done right. It was a harmonious blend of flavors and textures that elevated the entire dining experience. One of the highlights of my evening was the outdoor seating area, where I had the pleasure of enjoying my meal while listening to a live concert happening next door. The relaxed ambiance, coupled with the fantastic music, created an enchanting atmosphere that made the dining experience truly memorable. The attentive and friendly staff at Lumen added to the overall charm of the restaurant. From the moment I walked in until the end of my meal, their exceptional service made me feel welcomed and well taken care of. The staff's knowledge of the menu and their genuine enthusiasm for the restaurant further enhanced the overall dining experience. In conclusion, Lumen is a culinary gem that deserves every accolade. With its outstanding food, from the delectable Honey Bourbon Salmon to the divine Crabcakes and Caesar Salad, and its relaxed yet vibrant ambience, dining at Lumen is an experience that will leave you satisfied in every way. Whether you're looking for a memorable evening or a delightful meal, Lumen is the place to be.

(Last visited 3/31/2022.) Hanging out in Michigan and I love getting friends together whenever I come home. So I reached out to some folks to see what good restaurants were around that would also be able to accommodate a bunch of us. I heard great things about Lumen, so here we are and here's how things went! Atmosphere/Appearance: This place is beautiful. It's set right on the corner of Grand River, Cass Avenue and Plaza Drive is this gem. The exterior is modern, chic and almost feels Egyptian in some way. There's also a large outdoor section that can be utilized in the summer months. Inside is just as beautiful and intimate. The lighting is low, the music is soft, yet upbeat. The space is open and looks like a restaurant that belongs in a downtown like Detroit! Service: I can't remember who took care of us, but I don't remember having any issues whatsoever, even with out large party. Food: I kept it light today so I had the Everything Bagel Wings that were a smidge on the smaller side, but I guess that's what you get when you go organic. Lol. They were delicious and FULL of salty, savory, garlic-y, onion-y flavors! Along side them I had the "Frites" which are like a truffle-parmesan fry. I love how the truffle and the parmesan flavors complement each other so well. Next time I'll come for dinner and try more of a entrée instead of appetizers. Value: This place isn't cheap, as you should know from how I described the restaurant up above. The wings will run you $16.00 and you'll get 8 of them. The frites were $9.00, but for a total of $25.00, I was definitely satisfied. Drinks... are another story. Lol. In conclusion, I loved this place so much. It gives me great lounge vibes and it's my kind of place. I'm looking forward to checking this place out again in the near future!
