So let's start with the good stuff: Wait wasn't long at all and the server was awesome! The menu looked great, the food looked great and the restaurant fits it's theme perfectly. From here it all goes downhill so buckle up :(
We were seated with water and coffee, about 10 minutes later we order our brunch: Biscuits and Gravy & the Chilaquiles. A half hour later we are ravenous, our server comes over to apologize as some 20 top put there orders in before us so the kitchen is rather backed up. A quick survey of the tiny diner and sure enough, almost the entire joint was without a single plate! In all curiosity, WHY would you allow a 20 top at your establishment that barely has 20 seats in the main room! I mean I get it, but PLAN FOR IT! Soooo another 20 minutes go by and we start to see a flurry of breakfast pour out of the kitchen doors FINALLY ITS EATIN TIME! and boy does the food LOOK AWESOME! Sadly that's where it stopped being awesome. My biscuits and gravy was ice cold and I mean frigid! My girlfriend's skillet wasn't even warm to the touch (ironically had a hot pad around it), and the Chilaquiles were soggy & strange. Even worse still neither of our eggs were even remotely done, egg white oozed from it after a poke.
We were both beyond hungry and the poor server looked too stressed to bring it up. In fear of waiting any longer to eat, we ate what we could stomach paid up and couldn't of left any sooner. I bet everything would have been good, but what a let down for the time and price. It was such a bummer, if there is a next time, I hope it's for the best... Or...
Read moreUnbelievably delicious. I am a primarily plant based vegan and finding delicious vegan brunch in the city is nearly impossible. This place made it so easy. it wasn't exorbitantly expensive, it was super reasonably priced actually. My friend and I went and we had an absolutely fantastic time. Besides the food and the aesthetic of the whole place being wonderful and cute boots, our servers Jason and Liz were super helpful, super nice, just made the overall experience a 6-stars. I got the make your own potato hash and they substituted the eggs for more potatoes. Y'all. it was everything. Flavorful potatoes, perfectly cooked. PERFECT AVACADO!
Things to note.
If I don't tell someone about this diner I'm doing them a disservice. I cannot think of a single negative thing about this restaurant. We waited an hour for a table in a packed house. The house had coffee out for people waiting on a table, so I don't think this is a new phenomenon. Once we got seated, we got our mimosas and placed our orders. Owing to the rush hour nature of the day, we waited a while for food. The house refreshed our mimosas gratis and apologized for the waiting.
And then we got our food. Absolutely incredible meal. Our consensus was that it was the best breakfast we've ever had. So much flavor, so much good food, all made in house. We devoured it all. I don't think I stopped to breathe until my omelette was done.
Towards the end of the meal, who I assumed was the manager came out again, unprompted, to apologize again for the wait. He comped our meals for us. We bought a round for the kitchen (a great way to show appreciation, as someone on the other side!) and went on our way, with the resolution that we'd be back.
If you have time, please consider P&R for a brunch. You...
