Capitol Park — Attraction in Detroit

Beautiful little park right in the heart of Detroit. It's right off the beaten path of Woodward and tucked away behind some of the more popular locales in the city. There are more and more restaurants and bars popping up in the area. It's also right next to one of Detroit's premiere steak houses. There is ample seating and plenty of places to grab a bite to eat and relax at a table and enjoy yourself.

In 1837, the site was the home of Michigan’s first state capitol building, serving as the seat of government until the capital moved to Lansing in 1847. The building was later repurposed as Detroit’s first public high school before being destroyed by fire in 1893. The land was then converted into a public park, and it has remained a civic space ever since.
