We walked into this place and it looks amazing. Great decor and atmosphere. After we sat the waiter came over and walked us through various options of whiskey and mixed drinks. Unfortunately, his response to almost everything we ordered (including his recommendation on whisky) was either they didn't actually have that anymore, or he wasn't sure if they had enough of that to make a drink.
After we finally figured out our orders and placed them we received our drinks very slowly and only one at a time, mind you only two people of our group of 6 ordered cocktails. Everyone else ordered whisky.
After five of our group had our drinks we continued to wait for the sixth to arrive and when we asked, he said that the bartender in the middle of handling our order actually made the drinks for two other tables of four people each first and was going to be making our missing drink shortly.
The waiter was pretentious and unapologetic about the lack of items on the menu being in the bar, or that we waited almost 20 minutes for our last drink. I want to love this place cause of it's location and that they are a whisky bar, with on the menu a great selection, but this experience was just tragic.
I will update this review if I go back and have a better experience. I understand that when I went, they were open for less...
Read moreMagnificently friendly and helpful staff assisted us in making our choices without being pushy or snobbish. If you want to speak with people who love what they do and have an intimate knowledge of whiskeys and cocktails, come here!
They have a surprisingly robust selection that's really well curated, and you're bound to get a thorough description of anything you want to try prior to ordering it. If you're coming here, don't be shy - try something nice. The prices are really reasonable, so it actually makes a lot of sense to go for the pricier bottles if you're curious about what they're like.
Lastly, the location is really great. Parking's plentiful, although you'll pay more when there's an event happening nearby (no surprise downtown, though). You'll be able to chill out in their super comfy chairs or couches and watch the world from the third floor of a beautiful space. Take something there if you want to be able to hear one another speak, but they also have DJs so it's a great venue for music as well, depending on the...
Read moreCozy Atmosphere! This place is in the middle of it all but low key. Love it because it wasn't overcrowded like some of the other trendy spots only steps away from this place. You must climb a steep flight of steps to access space, but once you're in it feels like you've arrived to an old friends home. The space is dimly lit with lamps and decor items placed in the spot. It has various seating configurations from intimate 2 person tables to a cozy sofa seating area as well as a small bar. You can enjoy a game of chess too while sipping your whiskey cocktail. The drinks were awesome, but boozy, so sip slow! I ordered the Henry C. Weber- a charcuterie board that was amazing! It was large enough for 6 ppl to sample from. The only downside is took way long for it it arrive after ordered. But the items on the board made up for the wait. We went on a Friday night which featured a DJ spinning late 80's and 90's R&B tunes. This was a nice treat. Whisky Parlor is a place to go sit, sip, eat and enjoy...
