Well I truly did not think that Towers Cafe could get worse…but somehow they managed to do so. This is my fifth semester of eating here and it is by far the worst one yet. I regret purchasing a meal plan. Not just the food, they changed the whole layout of the place and managed to make it more inconvenient considering the number of students who dine here. Only one drink station in the whole place actually works and has stacked cups. They took away the one in the extension, and a different one doesn’t have cups anymore. They took away the large salad bowls, and replaced them with little cereal bowls (but honestly considering how gross the salads are now I guess no one would want a big bowl anyways) The lettuce is sometimes decent, but most days it’s pretty brown and wilted even more so than last semester. At least I haven’t found a bug in my food yet but I have seen hair and bit of plastic in it. There used to be two soups to choose from daily and now there’s just one.

The ice cream machine still isn’t running and I’m not sure if they ever plan to turn it back on, probably not.

That being said, most of the staff in the cafeteria are polite and doing their best. I just think Sodexo...

As the school year winds down and I'm dealing with the sad realization of having to go back home and being away from friends, at least I can rejoice in the fact that I'll never have to deal with this terrible cafe ever again. By far, the worst part of living on campus is the horrible meal-plan system, with towers cafe being the penultimate of all the gross food served at this university. The cafe is employed by students who hate their jobs, and consequentially, don't care about their work due to horrible management that not only lacks experience, but lacks understanding for their employee's busy student-schedules. Despite being the only cafe open on weekends, their weekend options are somehow worse than what's served everyday, as it seems for some reason the management only cares about the commuters who use the cafe (what about us people stuck here on the weekends with literally nothing else to eat because eveything closes?) Never go to towers cafe, do NOT purchase a Wayne State meal plan if you don't have to, and if you do, get the smallest meal plan and buy...

I know it's the cheapest food for the biggest amount of people, but it is honestly ridiculous. Like others have mentioned, unless you come at peak mealtime hours, there's not much for you. 10-11, 2-5, 8:30-11, it's ridiculous. Many of us are required to have meal plans but still end up cooking or getting food elsewhere because the hall is so underwhelming.

This is not even to mention the staff and the service. The adult workers look like they hate being there and are frankly very rude sometimes. The students are always chatting, or on there phones. Personally, when I see someone who was just scrolling on their phone go and touch my food, I lose my appetite. There have also been times the staff has been too lazy to even do their job. There have been two times I've cane for omelettes in the morning and I've just been entirely ignored by the worker behind the counter. For a service we are required to pay $3,000+ a semester, this is absolutely unacceptable. Nobody expects the dining hall to be a 5 star experience, but it shouldn't be this...
