Long rant because this was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Yesterday, my girlfriend & I went for Valentine’s Day & of course I understand Valentine’s Day is a busy holiday ! We made reservations for 9:15pm & we arrive at 9 pm to see the line all the way out the door of people who were waiting for 45mins-1 hour to be sat. We went to go talk to the hostess in regards to how we have reservations & the host didn’t speak English at all so he didn’t understand anything I was saying to him. Another customer had to translate for me because he didn’t speak English and got upset I didn’t understand him. Moving forward, we wait in line to be sat. In this long line we’re in they’re not even calling names or checking for reservations. Most restaurants, if you have a reservation and there’s a wait, they call out your name in THE ORDER OF THE TIME OF YOUR RESERVATION. Nope, they didn’t do that they were just letting us in, in the line we formed ourselves. People were cutting and being sat who had not waited in line. We waited an hour to finally get our table. As people who came AFTER us get seated. We finally get seated it’s about 10pm. they didn’t clean the table, the people got up & they sat us he wiped it with a napkin in front of our faces & said “here”. We just blew it off because we were happy to be sat. Again, we understand it’s Valentine’s Day & it’s busy. So, we weren’t rushing a server to come see us because we know they had a lot to do so we were being respectful. 10 minutes go by and that’s fine. 30 minutes go by & no one still has even came to say a word to us. I had to wave down a server myself and say “hey I’m sorry we’ve been sitting here for 30 minutes and no one has came to talk to us”. She was very polite and assisted us immediately. We order 2 waters, 2 alcoholic drinks, sushi, and 2 rice bowls. The time right now is 10:30. She comes back about 15 minutes later with our alcoholic drinks & 10 minutes after that we got our rice. So we still don’t have our sushi nor our waters. Time goes by, we finished our drinks and most of our rice. She didn’t check on us very often because she had other tables and it was hard to flag her down. so we had to address another server for our waters to please ask her can we get our water. Time now is almost 11. I finally get to her and ask for our waters and she brings them out at 11:15. But still no sushi. The most frustrating thing about this is EVERY PERSON in the room had their sushi BUT us. People who had just got sat got multiple rolls at their table delivered to them but ours NEVER came. As we had ordered it at 10:30 !!!!! My last straw was when the people right next to us got sat, got their drinks immediately within being sat for 5 minutes, got their food within 10 minutes and even got seconds all before we got our food we ordered almost an hour ago. Time now is 11:30 I had been here for 2 hours now waiting. I walk up to the server myself and tell her how people after us have gotten their food and others have gotten multiple and we NEVER received ours. I politely asked her to take it off the bill because I wasn’t going to be waiting another 30 minutes for it to almost be 3 HOURS I had been there for sushi. I get my bill at 11:40 and we leave.
Restaurant definitely needs better management and better organization when it comes to servers with their tables. Also DEFINITELY needs to manage their reservations better. They know they do not have that many tables so they shouldn’t allow 70+ reservations to be made for the same times if they know THEY DONT HAVE THE SPACE OR THE PROPER STAFF. Totally ridiculous how me and my girlfriend waited almost 3 hours just for our entire order and others had only been there for 20 and got everything they needed. Terrible first...
Read moreI felt truly embarrassed to have brought my friends to this place for their “Baku Experience”. It should be a crime the kind of scam they’re pulling. First coming in, place isn’t prepped to your reservation. Only a curtain separates all this from your “high end” dinner, so this is all you’re able to pay attention to as you wait. The only bathrooms in the place are single stall and on the other side of this dining room, so every person in the restaurant who has to use the bathroom comes walking through back and forth behind us. Still keeping high hopes it starts, we enjoy the created environment with projectors, your brought out a little potion cocktail to begin with, honestly was off putting for everyone, but drinkable. After that the rest of the drinks were fine, regular cocktails. First course are two little fried seafood balls, which are fine, not going to be a food critic on what wasn’t bad. Second course, the crab salad dish, had brought us up, very enjoyable, fresh, well done dish. After that nothing but down hill. Next was a bao bun, just meat and garnish in a sticky bun, meats just bland and salty, the girls didn’t want to eat them, it’s whatever for us guys. Then they brought out sushi rolls, they were disrespectful, like ordering the cheapest thing on the sushi menu tryna save a buck. No effort put into such a simple concept, and not even good at that. After that was the soup, you‘ll enjoy instant ramen better than this, trust. Every aspect of it there was absolutely no effort or care put in. Maruchan ramen noodles (undercooked), bean sprouts in at about a 50/50 ratio to your hard noodles, half of a mushroom tossed in your nothing of a broth, just a simple store bought bone broth (if even that) from the carton, a thin slice of pork, dry and tough, tastes exactly like the little pork chunks from your anywhere Chinese strip plaza joint. And a fish cake, tasted cheap and store bought. No seasoning or creativity or anything, just nothing. Last was fried ice cream, completely melted and over battered. Here’s the best part, they only offer two options of still or sparkling water, then they bring a check out for that as well just to get that much more out of you. They need to completely get rid of this entire experience or replace “Chef Gassan”. They cannot be allowed to scam any more people with such a dinner that someone who just started cooking could make. If you gave me a week to redesign that menu it would easily be outdone twice over. End of story, whoever the owner is that reads this, all I ask is to actually give an effort on this and try, or take away this option all together. Lord knows the place needs the extra space anyways. $750 on a dinner that shouldn’t cost half of that. Alcohol is the only thing keeping it from a $50-$60 meal. If your trying to present yourself at a certain level of quality and...
Read moreWent for the experience that was heavily advertised on my social media, saw it as a great place to celebrate a special occasion. Sadly, most of the negative reviews are true about this place. the experience itself looks very nice, the graphics are beautiful and the plates are very creatively decorated. The overall food lacks a lot of flavor and at the end we were requested a review from a server I did not recall seeing during the whole experience. So I'd be wary of the raving reviews. With a price tag of over $300 this is a hard pass.
Spoilers ahead for the experience
Decoration was about the last good thing I can say, the plates lack flavor some more than others, Due to some of the sound being somewhat muffled it was hard to make up some ingredients. The initial rice balls served though they were crunchy and had a good size they lacked flavor. The seaweed salad was the tastiest of the bunch it could be a bit punchier in flavor. The sushi was good but the use of cream cheese threw the balance off, it was overpowering. The Bao Bum had fried pork and a sauce that resembled a bulgogi sauce, this one I believe was hit or miss because some parts were rather crunchy. The ramen plate was definitely the most disappointing, the soup was very bland, so was the pork, the mushrooms could've been sauted or cooked differently instead of just placed in the soup as they did not soak any flavor, the egg on this dish was not runny. The dessert was overly sweet it was a fried ice cream, however...not a lot of ice cream on it. As far as the drinks served these were truly hit or miss like the other reviews say. The initial shot was extremely sweet and had a weird slime at the bottom. The purple fish drink was very bland and that is that. The mushroom drink was very good, it was fresh and sweet, I'd have added some mint but that just my personal opinion. The dragon drink had passion fruit and grapefruit but it was very sweet and bitter. The disco ball was the last drink very good it was either a bubbly wine or champagne with apple flavor.
In conclusion, this experience was not one to remember but one to forget. The hefty price of over $300 which has a tip they include is a rather steep one. The visuals are great but the sound at times made it hard to hear the ingredients of the plates. There is an overall feeling of being rushed for the next plate. Hence, I do not recommend going here for...
