Let me start by saying that I’m a regular at this KBBQ and I’ve always loved coming here with my partner and coworkers. Though it is expensive($44.99 per person), it is worth it for the quality of meat and food.
Last night however, was by far my worst KBBQ experience. My partner and I came in around 8pm so almost 2 hours before they closed and they were not too busy at all. We sat down and were greeted by this short-haired Korean lady. Don’t think she served us before.
She placed the brisket on the small grill, then another meat after another. I was surprised because I never had anybody cooked 3 meats at the same time on a SMALL grill from my previous visits here and any other KBBQ restaurants I have been to. She placed some visibly uncooked briskets on our plates, then took some of those back from our plates since we noticed there were still some pink on the meat. She put them back on the grill then put them back on our plates again. The second meat(still had blood on the meat) and some of the chicken were also uncooked.
The second batch of meat shown in the picture with pork belly were also cooked on the small grill all at the same time. You could see some of the meat falling on the steamed egg’s side. Not shown in the picture, but some of those uncooked pork belly were falling on the corn cheese and steamed eggs. It had not even passed 30 mins and all of our meat were being cooked.
We just felt so rushed and the lady was cooking the meat too quickly that we couldn’t enjoy our meal. We unfortunately decided to leave and asked for the check. I thought they would at least provide a discount on the bill to rectify the bad service but we still paid full price. It felt like a waste of $100 :(
I’m not sure if I’ll be coming here again and it’s just sad because this is one of my favorite KBBQs! Please train your staff to take their time cooking the meat(one at a time) and ensure that meat is cooked so your future guests can...
Read moreI just want to preface by saying that my family has been eating here for years, that their food is very good, and that while the waitstaff has been a bit terse at times, we understand they work very hard and never minded much.
That being said, we were very disappointed by our experience today. They close at 10 pm, and we arrived around 8:30-8:45 and had our orders in around 8:50. Everything was fine until 9:30, when they dropped off the check and suddenly became extremely anxious for us to pay up and leave ASAP.
At this point we weren’t quite done eating but they kept coming back to the table every couple of minutes to ask for payment. After my card was rung up, I was calculating how much the total was without the portion we ordered for takeout so I could determine how much to tip. It had only been a few minutes since they rang up my card, but the waitress came to check if I had filled out the check. She saw that I didn’t, and came to stand right behind me and watch as I did my calculations on my phone. She asked if the total was correct so I told her yes it was, I was just doing some calculations. She continued to stand right behind me and wait for me to fill out the tip. I felt uncomfortable but chalked it up to her trying to be helpful, if a bit pushy.
At this point I checked the time again. It was 9:42. I understand wanting to go home early if possible, but not to the point of making customers feel uncomfortable just for being in the restaurant during operating hours. Still, they seemed eager to close up so we got up to leave, and as I passed her I said thank you to our waitress. She looked at me, scoffed, and turned away.
I could have forgiven the rushed service at the end of the night, but that last bit was extremely rude. The food was good as always, but the service tonight definitely left a sour taste in our mouths and we won’t be returning...
Read moreThis was such a disappointing place. I went here to get Korean BBQ with my sister, we debated between here and Iron Age;(which she's been to and loved) we decided to give this place a chance. First thing, it wasn't an all you can eat BBQ, which I understand, but we expected big portions for the price. My sister got the ribeye which was pictured as an arranged plate of several steaks and was $31 and it came as one steak. I ordered the marinated short ribs which was $28 but at least matched the picture next to it. Still, much more expensive than average Korean BBQ. Second thing that drove us crazy was our server WOULD NOT LEAVE US ALONE. Personally I like Korean BBQ because I like to cook it myself, but every time we were flipping or cutting or REACHING for the tongs she came over to take total control, despite us making it clear that we were fine and did not want help. And she cut it in ways we were specifically trying to avoid. Which might sound picky, but that's part of the reason we chose Korean BBQ. Next they brought the check before we were close to being done, which I understand but is still a little rude. We both work at a restaurant, so normally we're pretty great tippers, but we honestly didn't like our service. Or the food. Or the price of a dissatisfying experience. So we decided to tip a little over 10%. The server came over, counted out the bills in front of us, laughed and shouted "10%" across the restaurant to the other worker. It was an empty restaurant, but still. I have never seen or heard of such rude behavior from staff before. Maybe you should think about why we tipped poorly. How about asking if the service was okay? I've never been so unhappy with a Korean...
