I wanted donut holes for our church's 'coffee table', and a couple of dozen assorted donuts for our choir for Easter Sunday morning. I called early in the week to ask about getting 10 doz donut holes on Sunday morning at 9 a.m. I told the lady that I would call and confirm this prior to Sunday morning. By the time I remembered on Sat, they had closed for the day. So, Sunday morning, I watched the clock and called at 7:30 a.m.--and they were so gracious, and said they'd have them ready at 9! We picked them up (this was our 1st visit there) and wow! What a beautiful variety is offered! But let me say this: their 'beauty' is FAR surpassed by their TASTE!. Oh. My. Word. They are FANTASTIC! My husband loves Krispy Kreme, which I detest, and when he said he believed that THESE were even better, I knew it wasn't just my imagination--these are superb. Hands down the best donuts I've eaten since we left StL 14 yrs ago. Kudos to the wonderful staff and simply amazing donuts!!!! Just writing this makes me want to grab my keys, drive right over there and get a couple of those bavarian cream filled, chocolate iced confections....they were decadent. I rarely think that D'Ville has any sort of eatery that is clearly superior to other places, but I would rank Douglas Donuts as 2nd to...
Read moreI’m not one to knock a small business hustle, but they should just stick to donuts. I stopped here out of curiosity for breakfast on Sunday. The service was fast. My family and I had a variety of breakfast sandwich’s some with bacon and sausage and others as burritos and croissants. Something tasted off with the bacon, egg, & cheese croissant , but it seemed edible at glance. My husband felt that his burrito sausage was a little bland and added his own stuff to it at home.
PLEASE DO NOT try the smoothies!!!! They are not made with real fruit. The strawberry taste like a Nesquik mix and the mango smelled bad. I had a strawberry jelly filled donut, but the strawberry was super tart. I guess I was expecting some sweetness. The glaze was definitely interesting and different then what I’ve tasted before. Most of the good reviews I’ve seen have been about their donuts. So, stick with donuts. But unfortunately I won’t be...
Read moreGreat place and really good donuts. However, they’ve changed their Apple Fritter recipe lately; making them flatter than before. This change came about a month or two ago in relation to this post.
Before, the fritter was perfect: not over glazed; contained a balanced combination of a fried, crusty exterior and a tender, yeast-doughnut interior. And, it was mounded like how I think a fritter should be.
Now, it’s been flattened and over-glazed to the point where the interior is a gloppy mixture of sugary-glaze, rendered apple and soggy and saturated yeast doughnut that became unpalatable the more I ate it.
Please do quality control on this doughnut because I believe it’s one of your flagship products and has the potential to be excellent; especially not that Dunkin no longer has its conventional fritter.
On the positive side, the cinnamon roll and the chocolate covered vanilla pudding filled donuts...
