Monterrey Mexican Restaurant Douglasville — Restaurant in Douglasville

i am not the person who rates restaurants because i am mostly satisfied with the service that i receive, but i felt compelled to say something about Monterrey. this is not the restaurant that you want for Mexican food. my first and only experience was not a good one. immediately upon entering i was notified that a 4% charge would be applied to use a credit card, but i know that a lot of businesses are passing on these charges to their customer. the restaurant was nice and clean comparatively and our server was very professional. upon receiving the salsa and chips, we began to question where we were. the salsa tasted as if it had been poured straight from the bottle. we then ordered guacamole and queso which are staples for us in a Mexican restaurant. both were very disappointing, still we’re trying. our granddaughter asked for the Monterrey platter with several options and she settled for a half of a chicken tender. my husband had to take a $15 platter home to doctor it up to make it work for a 10 yo. if this wasn’t enough, i ordered a half plate of PLAIN nachos that came with the butt end of a tomato and was told that i would have to pay $1 to get extra tomatoes. i began to think who are these people? i spoke with the so-called manager and tried to explain that diced tomatoes typically come with the nachos, but he insisted that i would have to pay for extras. his only response was an apology and that he would work with the kitchen staff but did nothing to satisfy my request.

i got through the bottled salsa, the bland guacamole and sampler platter that tasted as if it had come straight out of the freezer section in a BJs or Sams warehouse, but to insist that i had to pay extra for a few dice tomatoes was unacceptable. i have frequented several Mexican establishments within the surrounding counties and have never had this type of experience . i would not put this restaurant up against a Del Taco. if you are looking for good or decent Mexican food, look further...

Stopped in for lunch while out on a bike ride. The place was really busy for a Sunday afternoon but we were seated immediately and the server was nice and got our drinks super fast..chips were already on the table when we sat down..I go to the restroom and while washing my hands I took my sunglasses off my head and laid them on the sink and forgot them until after we were ready to leave and went back to see if they were there and someone stole them off the bathroom sink within 30 minutes of us having lunch I asked the staff if anyone had turned them in and nobody had turned them in 😢 they were my harley sunglasses and to think someone would actually steal something that quick really upset me...but guess that is what I get for leaving them behind but I only saw 3 women go towards the restroom while we were there but anyway the fajita quesadilla was a little dry (no cheese sauce) and looked lonely on my plate as nothing came with it not even sour cream or lettuce and pico de gallo no rice and beans nothing and originally came out from the kitchen with chicken and shrimp and I ordered steak and chicken and it seemed that we waited for a long time to get our order but probably not that long im just impatient..but it was still tasty.. server never brought me any more water and we waited a while to get our check..so it was just lunch and nothing spectacular but just really sad that I had my sunglasses taken from the restroom and not turned into the staff! Shame on the bit"h that took them you should be ashamed of yourself! Really sad that someone would...

This location has great food but the staff really does ruin it. I have visited this location twice and everything has been on point except the staff and their work. The location is in a great location despite fact it is extremely difficult to get in and out of but, this is not their fault. The location is clean and clean restrooms. Those greeting appear nice but it's another story when it comes to speed of the waiter coming and the attitude of one of the workers who took my to go order. On my last visit I had to deal with the to go order female who in the end ended up I was shorted an entire meal but did not in any way feel like dealing with her hate the world attitude so I just let it go. The food was good as always, what food I was given and overall I have decided that this location is like dating someone who looks amazing but has no heart or personality to compliment the good looks so I will not be returning to this location. Do I recommend this location, no but, I do if you want amazing food that is a little pricey, that takes a bit to get and that's after you deal with the staff who makes you feel like you shouldn't even have bothered then after you can wait 10 minutes for traffic to clear so you can get out. 3 months ago this location was decent so I'm unsure of why it has changed in such a short time for the worst but hopes that it...
