This was our second time dining at this restaurant. The first time, they were exceedingly busy and the kitchen was painfully slow, but the food was okay and the crème brûlée was to die for so we decided to give them a second chance. We came on a Thursday and it was packed again. My husband got us a seat in the bar lounge area. We had to ask if the bartender was our server. They weren't, but they alerted someone for us. Our server was friendly and fairly quick. The salad arrived via food runner without dressing, but the server noticed immediately and whisked it away to add dressing. The salad and vinaigrette were very nice. I had the veal parmigiana which had a lovely, crisp edge, generous amounts of melty cheese, and a hearty tomato sauce with a pile of generic spaghetti on the side. The meat was very sinewy through about 80% of the cut. The young woman who brought our food begrudgingly retrieved some parmigian cheese for us and told me she didn't know what a peppermill was. My husband had the veal Florentine, which had a nice tender cut of meat, lovely vegetables and the perfunctory spaghetti. The sauce was flavourful, but watery and did not stick to anything. When the man ager came to ask how things were, I complimented the flavour, but told him that the sauce was watery. He said "oh that's just the way that sauce is". I told him it is really more a broth than a sauce. My husband piped up that the flavour was good though, and the manager said, "well, that's all that matters" and walked away. We had the crème brûlée for dessert, sans whipped cream and it was lovely, however, when I was a few bites in, my appetite was quashed by a server leaning over the next table with their back end to me; to put it mildly, their hygiene was the issue. I was ready to go home at this point, but it took several minutes for an employee to reappear into the lounge. For a few moments, I thought we might have to dine and dally. All-in-all, I would say, the atmosphere is warm, welcoming and lovely, the staff is very hit and miss, and I don't appreciate being mansplained. Flavour is not all that matters, balance, texture, consistency, viscosity, presentation... The service is generally q u i t e slow. The food is also hit and miss, but generally decent. Unfortunately, it doesn't match the price point. One wine, one Prosecco, two entrees and one dessert and an 18 per cent tip took us to around 120. Not bad if it were to meet my expectations, but it fell quite short. The only reason I'd go back would be to order a crème brûlée to go, and I'd call...
Read moreMy neighbor has raved about this restaurant for years. On my husband's birthday, he gifted him with money for us to specifically dine there. Well, we finally made it on 09.29.23. The ambiance was very nice. We were the first patrons to enter, so we were asked to have a seat and give them a few moments. Finally we were seated. The waitress overhead this was our first time dining there, so she welcomed us and took our drink order and instructed us she would return with salad and bread. Another staff served our drinks and left. Uni
As time passed, I looked to my right and saw the waitress at another table waiting on them. Mind you, we never received the salad and bread she promised. She proceeds to serve them salad and bread and never looked our way. By now I'm getting upset! My husband walks over to another server to ask if he could take our order, and also let him know what happened. He took our appetizer order and apologized for the mix-up. We were told the waitress for our section was late. That was a lame excuse! The other waitress should've explained that to us as opposed to leaving us high and dry! After everyone was notified of our displeasure, the "supposedly" waitress stopped by to say it was her fault, then another stopped by to see if we were okay. Excuse me, where we're you when we were just sitting and the waitress was taking care of her regular guest who arrived after us???
Now, you have missed an opportunity to have another regular guest. Our server - Ryan, was EXCELLENT! He assured us when we returned he would definitely take care of us. Sorry Ryan, you were great, but we will not be returning. Perception is everything and we felt ignored! We were assured we would be taken care of but we were not. Besides, we did not want anything for free. SO...
Read moreI’ve actually never heard of this place before hand, but accepted an order through the Uber Eats app to deliver food from here. As I walked through the doors I realized how classy the restaurant was. Everyone greeted me with a smile and then had me go to the bar to pick up the food. I talked with a sweet lady (wish I would’ve gotten her name) who told me the food wasn’t quite ready yet and told me to have a seat and make myself at home. Looking around and seeing all the guests in the restaurant I definitely felt out of place with my shorts and t shirt on but nonetheless the hospitality was above average. I probably sat there in between 5-10 minutes, which didn’t seem long at all but the lady came out again and offered me something to drink while I sat and wait.
AND HERE IS WHY I’M WRITING THIS REVIEW. Delivering for Uber Eats, you go to A LOT of different restaurants, whether it be fine dine-in places or just fast food. Being just “the Uber driver” in a lot of cases you’re overlooked as also being a customer or potential customer. Out of my 3 months of delivering food, this high quality, extremely classy restaurant was the only place that I’ve delivered from that’s offered me something to drink and shown this type of hospitality. Being in the restaurant I did feel out of place with the way that I was dressed (shorts and t-shirt) compared to everyone else and the class within the restaurant but they didn’t overlook that aspect and still gave great service to just AN UBER EATS DRIVER and that was really appreciated.
Great Customer Service is just as important as the quality of the food so although I didn’t have food from here this restaurant still deserves 5 STARS for exceptional service! And because of the great service, I will be back to dine in...
