Wow, what an experience! Had some trees cut down last week and needed to rent a grinder to get rid of 3 of the 7 stumps left from the work. Wanted to rent one from Mason Tractor in Villa Rica but their machine was down due to a cracked muffler. Checked around for several days and finally found the Douglasville Store “had just gotten our unit back from a full service” or so said the rental agent who signed it over to me. He started the Baretto 30 SG before I got to check the oil and fluids so I didn’t do this before taking it out. Because this model grinder DOES NOT HAVE A FUEL GAUGE (capitalized for emphasis), the rep logged it out as 1/4 full; this plays a role later upon returning the grinder. At home, I checked it before starting the unit again and found that they probably need to either get a better service shop or check everything themselves bc the oil was beyond black from use. Further inspection noted that the cutting wheels’ teeth were not sharp, both air cleaners were caked with debris and the safety switch for the head was missing making it hard to engage. Being the resourceful Army retiree that I am, I was able to rig a fix with a pebble and electrical tape. I added about 3 gallons of premium gas I had already and got to work. About 3 hrs and 2 of the 3 stumps later, the engine sputtered a few times indicating that more fuel was required. I stopped work and went to get more in the 2 five gallon cans I have (see receipt for 9.48 gals). I refilled the grinder to capacity and ATTEMPTED to finish the last stump before washing/loading it up for return. Wouldn’t you know it, THE DANGED THING WOULD NOT START!! Having owned a small yard svc after retirement and not wanting to pay “shop hours” to maintain my equipment, I set about troubleshooting the issue. I removed the spark plug, checking for carbon buildup blocking the spark or wetness indicating flooding. It wasn’t wet so I cleaned off the thick soot. No luck. I then removed the air cleaner assembly and found more debris. I tapped it off and blew air through it from my compressor. Again, no joy. I then sprayed a rag with carb cleaner and wiped out the housing as far as my hand could reach removing a TON of dirty sludge. I then sprayed engine starting fluid into the assy before trying to start it again. After a little over 2 hours of tinkering and cussing, I was finally able to get it running again only to be forced to quit for the day bc of HOA Covenants prohibiting work after 7 pm. I got up early this morning to try to finish the last stump (which wouldn’t have taken so long had the head had properly maintained cutting teeth) before having to take the unit back. Upon return, I tell the rep (different guy from sign out) about my experience. I offer to show him pix but he says “I believe you” and credits me 10% for the inconvenience then proceeds to charge me $17 for a fuel charge. Mind you I only got about an hour’s run time out of the 5 gallons I put in just last night and THE BARRETO 30 SG DOES NOT COME WITH A FUEL GAUGE. Did he use a stick to mark the gas level? NO! Did he tap the tank to see where the deepest thud sound was? NO! He opened the cap, made an assumption and marked it down as though I’d taken the unit out fully filled. I guess the 10% for my troubles was to get a good review; HOW’D THAT WORK FOR YA?!! I have more videos but they are too large to post as the app only allows for 30 second long clips.

I am a Home Depot shopper and have been my whole life. The treatment that I just got I’m considering changing to Lowe’s altogether. I did an online order and when I got to the store to pick it up, I stood there for 30 minutes waiting. Finally, after going to customer service three times asking what can be done to speed up the process a young man stopped by and asked me if he could help. He quickly located my order and I pushed it out myself. I spoke with the manager and was told that he is sorry, but that does me very little. I work hard for my money, so I want to spend it smart. The customer service I just got is not too smart in my book. I shop at a Douglasville branch quite often. I think I will be done with the store from now on. Completely unacceptable. Hunter is the only employee that I asked to help me and without him I’m sure I would still be standing there waiting. I found the guy that was told to get my order in the first place and ask him if he got lost. He kept walking and said no he was with somebody else. I am over this place! Go to Lowe’s, or another Home Depot, where you will be treated like a guest.

Today I had to replace my disposal unit. I have done this before however I was 30 years younger. When I purchased the unit I asked a Plumber how much would he charge to install. I was shocked that he said 300 dollars. I quickly walked away from him and prayed I could do this in my elderly state. By the grace of God I removed the old unit and installed the new unit in 40 minutes. Thank you Home Depot for having the Deposal, Handie persons, I know the cost of living is high however simple fixes within your skill set will bring you the big jobs based on simple pricing and fairness. All of us are suffering why can't you contractors be a light during these dark times.

BEWARE - Douglasville store HORRORS. I Ordered 2 doors for $3,800.00 (sale price). The front door had a 12” gouge out of the inside edge above the latch. AND, the lower inside FRAME was CRACKED beneath the lower hinge. Since it was concealed until the installers had the old one out already, they had to install it. So 3 months after ordering my doors - I still have NO DOOR. The Douglasville store was unhelpful, offered me $180 to KEEP the busted door????? The lady was so rude to me just asking “what do you want” but not offering any options. Only after a dozen times of asking her what our options were did she offer me the $180.....laughable. After 11 days they finally ordered a new one. Still waiting.....7 weeks later. Worst part is that we pulled the floors from the landing to tile them after the install and can’t finish it - so the new tile floor is popping up now because they have been installed and walked on for two months because they couldn’t be grouted until this door was installed. Cant have the painter come to paint the doors because one still isn’t reinstalled and not going to pay him for two trips. I have never received a single call from them about this to update me or offer any concession for the horrible service. I have had to call them and go to the store to find out anything. They have given me updates from the wrong order and even when I specifically asked that THE store manager Jennifer call me - she had the lady from the door department call me instead. I was very clear that I wanted the store manager to take over on this - neither assistant store manager did anything even after I came in 5 times asking for managers. They said they’d look into it and call me....phone hasn’t rung yet. And then Jennifer has the lady call me that I specifically said was rude and that I didn’t want to call me. But she didn’t have anything to tell me that I didn’t already know. We heard to stay away from the door department at the D’Ville Lowes - but I bet they couldn’t do worse than this. We spend thousands at HD- but I think I’m done giving them my business period. Do not trust them with an install project unless you want it to be half done and take forever!!!! We planned this to be done months prior to a huge party being hosted at our house. We hosted the party last weekend with our gutted floors, I painted doors and busted front door. I severely regret buying the $1200 wood splitter from them two months ago....should have given that money to Lowe’s. I believe the retail before the sale price was $2700+ on the door plus over $500 to install....three months later......I have a busted $3000+ FRONT door. WORST retail...

If I could give a ZERO rating I would!!! I spoke with Phil Morris about purchasing cabinets/countertops for my kitchen.. I told him that I had previously been coming into the store but he's never there or at lunch.. So I stop going.. Several weeks ago I went back to the store and Phil was there.. I told him that I still haven't had my kitchen done.. So I picked out the cabinet & Phil emailed me the design.. So I responded back saying I like the design.. I went into Douglasville Home Depot for almost a week.. Either Phil was off or at lunch.. Tried calling the store.. No 1 answers the phone.. on thursday I asked for a mgr.. Manger Ms. Tonesha, came ..she did acknowledge me & introduce herself & gave me her ext..address my concerns..But wasn't able to assess Phil computer to assist me with what I needed done.. She was very professional! She took my phone number & called me on Saturday stating Phil was there in the store that I could come in . I told her that I couldn't come I had made other plans.. She said he would be in the store on Monday, June 17,2024 to come in at 2. Now it's Monday, instead of going home after work I go to the store and wait in my car til right at 2.. I go to the department.. I don't see any1 there.. so I ask a young man to page Phil he said he didn't know how to page that he would get me some help . No one came.. I'm still sitting there.. I ask some1 else to page Phil...No Phil still.. Next person, I ask to have a mgr. to come to the cabinet department... A African American ( I'm assuming) mgr. came.. I'm sitting there.. he goes straight to the phone.. I guess to page Phil... He didn't acknowledge me..nor himself.. I had to ask him was he the mgr.. he said yes! 😳 I stated to him I've been sitting here waiting on Phil..That I was told to come at 2pm. It's 2:30..and still no Phil.. He started talking loud at me.. saying Phil is probably at lunch he came to work at 9am.. I told him how do I know he's at lunch that he came to work at 9am...I was told to come in at 2.. I felt sooo embarrassed & offended, I walked out & went to Lowe's where I received excellent customer service as a paying customer! I'm done with Douglasville Home Depot in GA...I would appreciate it they would reimburse me for the 100+ I had to pay to have measurements done that was supposed to go to the purchase of the cabinets! Tell me how a big corporation like Home Depot, only has 1 employee that knows how to work a demanding department as kitchen...
