I've always liked IHOP. The service is good, the ambiance is nice and causal, and the food is pretty good. However this one in particular only gets 3 stars for 3 reasons.
One is they're inconsistent with their food. What I mean is some days the food is awesome, but other days the food is disgusting. One time my mom order hashbrowns and they tasted great, but the next day she ordered them again and they were gross. She tried again the day after and they were still gross. Restaurants usually try to make the food taste good every single time so customers will always enjoy it. Waffle House always has good tasting food no matter what day, so they're successful for being consistent.
The second reason is the waitstaff isn't always attentive when it comes to orders. One time my mom ordered an omelet and asked them to add spinach to it, but when she got her omelet there was no spinach. The next day she asked again with the same special request, still no spinach. This continued for a few weeks until they finally got it right. I don't know if the server was distracted or if the chef was having an attitude, but constantly messing up a simple order is unacceptable.
The third reason is there was an incident involving me ordering my usual french toast. Yesterday my mom and I ordered our usual food. When I was about to eat my french toast I noticed something stringlike like hanging off of it. It was a red hair! I knew it wasn't mine because my hair is brown, plus I was wearing braids. I was disgusted, and when I told my server what happened she took my food back but it took almost 30 minutes for the chef to make a new batch for me. Luckily my mom reported the incident to the manager and she gave us the french toast for free. Now I have to double check to make sure there's nothing in my food the next time I eat there. They're lucky I'm nice or else I would have done what most people do and caused a scene and forced them to give me a free meal.
My overall opinion is this is a great restaurant, just double check your food the next time you take a...
Read moreChaos & Confusion!!😲 I truly don't understand how this place has been around for so long and operate so poorly. Unfortunately this is not the only IHOP with this problem. I went to get some breakfast that I ordered over the telephone. I expected to be able to go in, walk up and pay for my order and take it with me especially since I didn't arrive until 20 minutes after I placed the order on the phone. Instead I walk-in and the mob scene in the attached photo is what I saw. Nothing but a mass of people. To back up, when I arrived there wasn't a single parking spot available. The only thing I could do was park next to the sidewalk along the building where there was no official parking spot. I had to wait about 20 minutes in this massive mob all the while my food has been sitting on the counter for at least 10 minutes before I got there. The people that I had to wait in line with were people who were waiting to be seated, people waiting to pay for their meals, people who were picking up food and people who were waiting to place orders to-go. True inefficiency at its finest! 😲
One big thing that all of the IHOPs could do to remedy this problem is to do like other restaurants such as Chili's and Outback. They need to have at least two parking spots dedicated solely for To-Go orders and a separate location were people can go pick up or order their to-go orders. If you can get the people serviced who have already placed their orders (on the phone or online) and are simply paying for and picking up their food it would speed up the line for everyone else and move cars faster in and out of the parking lot since there would be a dedicated set of parking spots for To-Go orders.
I think I'm done with IHOP until they can get their act straight!
Pros: Good breakfast
Cons: Long waits just for To-Go orders Not enough parking available Cold food 😝. Called in To-Go orders can sit at the register for 20-30 min while you wait in line just to pay for it Poor...
Read moreWe ordered a curbside order with a pickup time of 6pm. We got there at 6:02pm and called the number letting them know we were there. The woman who answered said "it will be a minute," and hung-up. 40 minutes went by. I called at 6:42pm and told them we had waiting in the parking lot for 40 minutes and she said "gimmie a second" and hung up. Five minutes later a guy came out and handed us our food after sitting in the parking lot for 45 minutes and asked that we check everything in the bag. We tore the whole order apart to verify everything was in there (it was) while he stared at us. No apology for having us sitting there for almost an hour was offered, or even any acknowledgement about it at all from the woman on the phone or the guy that gave us our food. We were starving by this point, so we immediately pulled over across the street to eat to find that everything was cold, soggy, and wet. The fries were dripping with condensation as were the buns on the hamburgers so this food had clearly been sitting there for some time. We did curbside pickup so that we could get a quick bite and head home on a busy day and it ended up taking longer to do curbside than it would have to go inside, sit down, eat, and checkout. If you're in a hurry or thinking that curbside or to go at iHop are good options to grab a quick bite, I'd think again. We won't be doing it again. In the end, we sat in the parking lot for 45 minutes after our scheduled pickup time to get cold, wet, soggy food that we had to microwave at home, making it very rubbery. Was not an enjoyable meal or use...
