Lickee's & Chewy's Candies & Creamery — Restaurant in Dover

We had stopped at Calef's Country Store in Barrington, NH for lunch, but we were craving ice cream to top off our delicious meal. We decided to investigate the area a bit, and eventually a GOOGLE search came to the rescue. The name of the place alone had us in stitches! How could we pass up having ice cream at a place called Lickees & Chewies??? Located in an old mill building, and decorated in full-on Halloween happiness, our Lickees (ice cream) was delicious...and the assortment of Chewies (candy of all kinds) seemed endless. What impressed me the most was the ingenious purchasing process. The entrance was crowded with adults and kids, including us, who were first taking time to enjoy the decorations as we all made our way to the ice cream ordering station. We placed our order, got our number, and were directed to the pick-up location at a different part of a very long counter. As we were given our ice cream, we were told that the napkins were located even farther down the counter. What this did was keep everyone moving so as not to create a mob standing around in one place waiting for their orders and clogging the flow of customers coming in. Genius! We grabbed some napkins and out we went as the exit was right there. We ate at an outside table, thoroughly enjoying the gorgeous afternoon. Employees were so pleasant and helpful...a huge...

WOW 😳! The colors! The decorations! The choices of 🍦🍨 ice-cream! The candy 🍬🍭!OMG! If you have a sweet tooth, come here! If you are on a diet, stay away! The inside and outside were set up for Halloween 🎃. Animatronics greeted you at the door 🚪. A throne, with no games, with a dragon 🐉 next to it was available for photos. The friendly staff were dressed up for Halloween 🎃. Indoor and outdoor 🪑 seating with swivel stools for chairs. I had a caramel cookie swirl 🍥, my friend, she had a Dirty Water 💦, coffee ☕ 🍦 ice-cream with cookies and chocolate chips, with with hot fudge added. My son, chocolate 🍫 with a sugar cone. All of us enjoyed our 🍦 ice-cream! A large assortment of PEZ dispensers, which facinated my son. I browsed the candy 🍬 from England. I miss England! Parking 🅿️ is a challenge. If you cannot find a spot by the store, try the street. Update: Sunday evening 🌆, December 2021; We visited and were impressed 👍 by the Christmas ⛄ decorations. Our experience has ALWAYS been positive! Here are a couple of tips to the haters who are always gonna hate:

1. If you are going to Lickee’s & Chewy’s leave enough time for your children to enjoy the WHOLE experience…it’s not 7 Eleven.
2. The day you walk in and see staff (they have always been well staffed when we’ve gone) standing around doing nothing, which will never happen, point it out to the owners/managers so that they can correct it.
3. Don’t plan on going there if you are on a budget…this place is a luxury not a necessity, and treat it as such. ” Penny candy” is a distant reality that will never be returning in our lifetime.
4. Don’t ruin your kids’ experience by complaining and then try and sway others as well. If you take your children to Disneyworld do you sit around every night complaining about lines and prices of things and then try to convince others not to go? This place is an EXPERIENCE that deserves taking in the sites the sounds and the smells. THAT is why they have so many...
