The motto of Angelo's is "The Best Thin Crust Pizza" and I have to agree 100% - It is the best thin crust pizza I have ever had. I call it a cracker crust but not sure if that's what it is really called. The sausage on it is extremely delicious as well. I am familiar that Angelo's has been in DG since 1959 as grew up in DG and it was a favorite date night after the Tivoli in the 60s when it was located near the tracks. Haven't been there in years so when I saw the nice location, and building thought I would stop. Still great taste! I would have given it 5 stars but was a little surprised that inside the restaurant you had to go up to the counter and order your own. With such a nice building and room with lots of tables, it would have been so much nicer to have regular servers to take your order, serve it, maybe have a little more ambiance such as background music or dimmer lighting. I heard it's been hard to get servers after Covid so maybe that's why (don't know). However I can't say more about the 5 star thin crust pizza and the lady working the counter who brought it to our table and made our visit really friendly and nice. We also ordered spaghetti and meatballs and the meatballs were very good as well. #AngelosPizza #AngelosPizzaDownersGrove #AngelosPizzaDG #DownersGroveItalianFood

Called in phone order last Friday night about 5pm. Was told 45 minutes. Arrived a couple minutes before 6pm to what I would call 'mayhem'. There was no rhyme or reason to the chaos. No line, just customers here and there and a frantic woman operating the register, taking orders, filling orders, waiting on tables, taking phone orders. Yet the entire time I had to wait (an additional 20 min at restaurant for my 1 cheese/sausage thin crust pizza) 2 teenage staff were taking phone orders only. I'd recommend an overhaul or delegation of responsibilities, maybe? Customers were coming up to register from dining room to ask for additional drinks, napkins, add on items etc. I'm not sure, but I think they misplaced my order ticket or delivery took wrong pizza and I was stuck waiting a total of 1hr 20 min total. The kicker was, a customer had lost her composure after her pizza order was also lost and she had been waiting in restaurant dining room for same she demanded a refund and ended up in a yelling match with the woman behind register. Doesn't matter if pizza was good or bad, life is too short to put yourself in this type of environment. Would never return and would not recommend.

I’ve heard about this place through FB and Reddit pizza discussion forums. Just FYI, they do charge you 4% if you use a debit or credit card. I know it’s weird especially since everything is digital these days. I placed a carry out order through the phone. I didn’t experience any rudeness and this was on a Thursday night. I think there is only one guy answering phones and also serving customers in person. The place can be found in downtown Downers Grove, it’s literally next to the free parking garage. The dining room is small but it has a good amount of seating (13-15 tables inside). When it’s warmer they do have outside seating. I ordered a medium meat special (cheese, sausage, pepperoni, hamburger, and bacon) and cheesy garlic bread. Food was hot when I picked it up. Medium is a good size if you’re sharing between 2 people. Pizza is tavern style and very crispy. So much flavor in each bite. The cheesy garlic bread was wonderfully done. They gave me two big pieces. Cheese doesn’t easily fall off. Unfortunately, I’ll have to take off a star due to the 4% charge for debit/credit use.

It's been over 20 years since I've been back home in Downers. We visited recently. For many years I've remembered a pizza. The most memorable, delicious pizza. I asked my mom a few times if she could remember that delicious pizza and all she could say was that it was in Downers Grove, but she could not remember. I could describe it as if it was yesterday. Over the course of 20 years living in Florida, I've tried many pizza places to try and bring back the memory I once had of this thin pizza that was cut into squares and (back then) came in a paper bag wrapped box. No one could or has yet to compare. While visiting recently, I ask my mom once again..."Come on, Mom!...What was that pizza place!?" After calling a old friend of hers, she finally remembered!.... Angelo's Pizza! We had dinner there that night! There was a festival in town that night, so it was very busy. I could hardly stand to wait! Couldn't help but wonder if it was going to be the same as I remembered. Once our 2 ex large pizzas were ready, let me tell you...It almost brought tears to my eyes! I felt like I was a little kid again. The sauce. The CHEESE. The crust. All as I remembered. It was truly MAGICAL! The ownership has changed since way back when, but this family has kept everything the SAME! And what a wonderfully proud couple. The gentleman who owns the establishment greeted each customer as if they were apart of his family. Walked us out and made sure we were pleased. And we were!.... Very, very happy! Soon they are going to be expanding their restaurant. All I can say is congratulations and please, please, please, PLEASE....stay humble and stay delicious! The next time I come back home I want nothing more than to experience that nostalgia again! It made our trip and we want to thank you for your hospitality. Truly thee most delicious thin crust...

Tonight Angelo’s lost me for life as a good and loyal customer. My last experience about 2 weeks ago was the take-out was 15 minutes late and the quality had gone downhill. Tonight I called in an order at 5:09 pm for 2 pizzas and mostaccioli ( the Wed. Special). The girl who took my order told me 20-25 minutes. I advised her that I needed it at 6 PM…50 minutes from now…..and told her of my previous experience with it not being ready so I needed it at 6 pm since I had people depending on me. I arrived at 6 pm and she rang up the order…incorrectly…not giving the special night price for the mostaccioli. I pointed that out to her and she corrected the bill. I do not believe this was intentional…but probably a lack of training. Then I was told it would be about a 10 minute wait…UNACCEPTABLE….and I told her so in no uncertain terms. A lady (wife of owner) came forward…but did not say much. Finally Lou? The owner? Came out and I told him as well this was UNACCEPTABLE..and that I had told him that same thing the last time. He said “sorry” and how Covid was affecting them and walked away. Then it heated up we me saying this is no way to run a business, no way to treat customers, 6 o’clock means 6 o’clock and maybe they needed to get a clock. When I told him I should get my order for free after experiencing this lack of delivery again, he told the girl to give me my f…king money back and to get out. Which I did and never shall return. Dining is about quality food (I think they are starting to scrimp on ingredients), value ( they always were higher priced but I was willing to pay for good food), and service/presentation. Service is where they have lost a family for good. This is the first negative review that I have ever written….and disappointed that I felt...

It was my first time visiting this place. It is really awesome spot for quality pizza! They made the best pizza I have ever had! It is really good, delicious, and phenomenal. The taste of it is so unique, delicious, and it has a good portion. The sauce they put on the pizza is fantastic, it is tasty, sized, and incredibly delicious. The whole pizza is amazing and the crust is crispy! I really love it. They also have fries that is so crispy, tasty, flavorful, and exceptional. It is a perfect side for their pizza. Many people really love it and keep ordering it when they visit. You can also order some of their awesome drinks. All of it is cool and refreshing. You must also try their salads, desserts, and other food on the menu. Everything was delicious. All of the food are made to perfection and fantastic. Such a big menu full of quality food. This place is so huge, clean, and decent. The interior is full of aesthetic designs, it has an awesome vibe, and very relaxing. You will absolutely enjoy the whole place because of its ambiance. The staff here is also nice, very welcoming, and attentive. They are really willing to assist all of their customers. Giving all the things that the customers need from their kitchen such as extra water, condiments, and others. They are fast workers and personable staff. Outstanding service. If you are here in this area you must visit this place and enjoy everything you can order from their menu. You will never regret it. This place is really worth visiting again and again. I really had an amazing experience here. Thank you guys for wonderful service! Your place is great! Please keep it up! Kudos to all of...
