3.27.24 Don't know what happened since the last time we were here (last weekend). Service was great yesterday, but we ordered a protein add-on - chili tofu - and received 2 very thin slices. Last week, we received one thin slice & one thick slice. Tofu is cheap! Why not be generous & consistent each time? Hope this changes soon, feeling disappointed. Thanks
01.28.24 Update: Great meals, prepared pretty quickly, and served hot. We don't like our bread grilled and ordered it plain, but one plate had grilled bread and the other two did not. We told the staff member when food was dropped off at our table and they politely and quickly brought us two slices of plain bread. We appreciated that. Not a lot of people there, perhaps because of the 49ers/Lions game, but we never feel rushed at UP. Soft background music is relaxing, ambiance is welcoming, most of the staff is friendly & efficient. A few employees have a hard time smiling & being friendly - we've concluded that it's just their nature & they are likely very harried. Np! We'll keep coming back!
01.08.24 Update: Paper towel dispenser still has tape on it, but is working again. Kudos to the employee who moved the waste basket next to the door after noticing that the waste basket was placed directly under the towel dispenser such that clean, automatically dispensed towels were hanging into the waste basket with used towels & other trash!
Food was promptly brought out to our table with a smile, fries were hot. We love the seasoning, not overpowering, adds just the right touch. Salads were cool, crispy, with nice selection of fresh greens. Everything was tasty, hot water for tea was actually hot!
We rarely write-off a favorite place without giving them another chance or two, as we all have busy, challenging days. Glad UP Dublin made necessary changes, and we appreciate it. Thank you. Five stars!
12.29.23 Discontinued several vegan entrees we liked, but added a couple new ones that are ok. See menu I've attached. Paper towel dispenser in women's bathroom has been broken for a while & everything was quite messy. Typically they're cleaner, so hopefully this week be resolved soon. They've been very busy last several times our family has visited. Cashiers are friendly & knowledgeable about the menu.
9.26.23 Food was good, but lots of oil used on veggies. Pooled onto the dishes. Cashier was friendly, attentive - nice change from some past experiences. Outdoor seating is great, attached to restaurant or where parking used to be more "outdoors." Parking in general still very challenging, esp...
Read moreDelicious! I like the fact that it SEEMS like it's wholesome, healthy food. The people were easy going and customer service oriented, the interior had an interesting cool vibe and most importantly, the food was delicious!
I had never been so I didn't know what to expect but I'm glad I went. I approached the building and noticed a sizable menu out front. The selections were really delicious sounding with a couple international dishes that I immediately started to think about (I love international foods). They also had a nice outdoor patio which would be perfect for 9 months out of the year here in the greater bay area. That day was sunny but indoor was more my jam that day.
When I stepped in I felt the warm atmosphere with really nice details from a design perspective (Always stuck on the design). They had big screens with the menu on it, some wines displayed (Some that I recognized from my wine industry days too (Not the really corporates ones either)) as well as a decent sized dessert cold case.
I got up to bat and ordered their beef and mushroom stew with rice (Always eating rice). I wanted to explore more but it was a very cool day and a warm hearty stew was right up my alley. I often eat my stew with rice so that sounded like comfort to me at the moment.
My meal was REALLY GOOD! It wasn't too salty but had the rich flavor that one would want with a mushroom based stew. The rice was a brown rice and was a nice compliment of texture to the stew. I also ordered this cranberry apple ginger juice thing which was AMAZING!!!
I'm definitely going to go back and when I do, I'll explore a little more. I went there on my lunch break and with tip it came out to $24 which is a little much for what I usually spend on a lunch but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.
Update: 09/10/23 I went back a couple times, one time I ordered the Spicy Chicken sandwich and a Chx tortilla soup. The sando was actually spicy! I love it! The soup was...
Read moreIt's like going to a souped-up, upscale cafeteria. Lots of fresh, healthy choices plus a beer and wine bar. They serve you what you order, you walk down with your tray and pay at the end before finding a table to sit.
Prices and tastes are comparative to the Whole Foods food bars in the same Persimmons Place shopping center. So it can get pricey by the time you pay at the register when you add everything up (entree, soup or salad, dessert and beverage). You can get the same quality food at full table service restaurants for less or the same prices. Hence one less star.
Quality and quantity of food are great. Urban Plates serves sashimi grade wild Albacore tuna in their seared raw tuna entrees and salads. Melted in our mouths.
Staff was friendly and will provide free samples to try to help you decide. I would call Urban Plates cuisine - California farm-to-table cuisine (salads, soups, stews, entrees, pizzettes, sides, desserts). There is a lot of multicultural cuisines mixed in their food and meal options.
The entrees come with two sides and a slice of grilled rustic bread (mine wasn't really. Only disappointing part of my meal).
I ordered the Miso Ginger Grilled Wild Tuna (grilled raw) with glass noodle salad (Korean-style japchae) and roasted Brussels Sprouts (told they were a fan favorite and they were REALLY GREAT). My friend ordered the Grilled Albacore Tuna Nicoise Salad and asked to replace the slice of bread with potato chips and to get a sample of beets. Urban Plates makes and hand tosses the salad in front of you while you wait in line.
Finding a table can be a challenge since it's self-serve, first come cafeteria style. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. There is a diaper changing table in the women's restroom.
I can see parking can be tough in the lot during busy times and weekends because Urban Plates is in the busy Persimmons Place...
